Client feedback process to inform FIT implementation: a quality improvement project
Get PDFFeedback Informed Treatment (FIT) is a model for integrating client feedback into care and has been shown to improve cost-effectiveness of mental health treatment. Fidelity to the FIT model requires organizational responsiveness to client and staff needs in a ‘culture of feedback’. This quality improvement project engaged staff at an outpatient mental health organization in a needs assessment (NA), using principles from emerging client engagement models and models of system utility. It resulted in development of a recommended process to elicit client feedback about the organization's systems of care
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit delirium guideline
No full textIn an urban community hospital pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in the Pacific Northwest a multidisciplinary team developed an evidence-based delirium guideline. This project is a step forward in taking a more proactive approach to pediatric delirium prevention and management. A PICU delirium guideline can aid in the prevention of delirium as shown in the decreased use of known risk factors (i.e. restraints and benzodiazepines) and subsequent decrease in overall delirium rates
Interview with Nancy Haigwood, Ph.D.
Get PDFIn this interview, Dr. Haigwood speaks of her scientific background and work with vaccines and animal research. As a child in a military family, Dr. Haigwood grew up in Thailand and saw the impact a lack of vaccines had on the health of the community. Later, after studying microbiology, she pursued virology and a career in the pharmaceutical industry. This eventually led to her professorship in pathobiology and immunology as well as the role of director of the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC). There, a particular focus has been working with antibodies to prevent the spread of HIV from mother to child. Though she no longer serves as the director of ONPRC, this important work continues there
