Get PDFIn order to carry out a school health program, it is necessary to have well-prepared public health nurses in the schools. The school nurse, whether she is part of a generalized or specialized program, is a public health nurse. They are the right hand of the administrators and physicians and spreading the gospel of public health to teachers, to children, and into the homes.

In a broader sense, prenatal care may include the entire development of a woman from her birth through the childbearing period. That is, the prevention of rickets in a child will give a woman with a normal rather than an obliquely contracted pelvis; and the early removal of foci of infection will provide a better chance of a healthy potential mother. No full textDr. Eddie Ramirez, born in Tala, Jalisco, Mexico, moved to the U.S. at age one. His interest in dentistry began at eight when he assisted his aunt in Mexico. He grew up speaking Spanish and learned English in kindergarten. In high school, he discovered his undocumented status, which complicated his college applications. He nearly dropped out of Portland State University due to funding issues, but received support from former teachers. While completing his degree, he applied to dental schools. He became the first undocumented/DACAmented student accepted into the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry, where he received a full scholarship through the Scholars for a Healthy Oregon Initiative. Dr. Ramirez is a national leader in the American Dental Association, advocating for undocumented and diverse candidates, and he shares his inspiring story nationwide.
