Political Uncertainty in the Behavior of Rental Housing Prices in Spain. Time Trends and Persistence Analysis
Over time, Spain has implemented various legislative measures to address the imbalance between homeownership and rental housing in a real estate market closely linked to the country's economic conditions. Changes in governance have introduced different regulatory approaches that may have influenced rental prices. This study examines the relationship between political uncertainty and rental housing prices in Spain from 1997 to 2024, using fractional integration, fractional cointegration, and wavelet analysis. The results indicate that exogenous shocks, such as uncertainty, temporarily affect rental prices. Additionally, a one-point increase in the Economic Policy Uncertainty index correlates with a 16.4-point rise in rental prices.Empres
Aurora kinase A drives non-canonical YAP1/TAZ crosstalk to sustain primary resistance to anti-EGFR therapies in colorectal cancer
Anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) therapies are the most recommended first-line treatment for RAS/RAF wild-type unresectable metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) according to the European Society for Medical Oncology guidelines. However, primary resistance renders this treatment ineffective for almost 40% of patients. Our previous work identified Aurora kinase A (AURKA) as a key resistance driver through non-canonical, Hippo-independent Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) activation. However, the role of the other main Hippo coactivator, transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ), in this resistance mechanism remains unexplored. By integrating preclinical in vitro and in vivo models, including cell lines and patient-derived xenografts, with RNA sequencing, we investigated the impact of TAZ overexpression in cetuximab resistance driven by the AURKA/YAP1 axis. Our findings reveal that TAZ overexpression sustains YAP1-mediated resistance and stemness. Even under YAP1 suppression, TAZ-overexpressing cells remain unresponsive to anti-EGFR therapies, whereas dual YAP1/TAZ silencing restores sensitivity. Treatment with alisertib, a phase III AURKA inhibitor, simultaneously destabilizes YAP1 and TAZ, restoring anti-EGFR efficacy by suppressing stemness. Transcriptomic analyses further show that AURKA inhibition and dual YAP1/TAZ suppression disrupt stem-like traits and reveal transcriptional deregulations affecting nucleotide metabolism. These findings demonstrate that AURKA orchestrates YAP1/TAZ crosstalk, which is crucial for driving stemness and resistance to anti-EGFR therapies, highlighting AURKA inhibitors as a promising strategy to enhance anti-EGFR therapies in metastatic CRC.Psicología y Ciencias de la Salu
Humanidade
The Metrics of the DMA’s Success
The Digital Markets Act (DMA) is a rare bird in competition policy. Indeed, it is a hybrid framework incorporating the institutional setting of a regulatory tool as well as the conduct already targeted by antitrust authorities in proceedings against digital platforms. From a policy perspective, the DMA seeks to prevent some anticompetitive practices. To this end, the EU legislator has construed an intricate set of provisions pursuing different policy goals. After setting out these goals in relation to the proclaimed legal interests protected by the DMA (ie, contestability and fairness), the paper uncovers the policy goals underlying each of the provisions. Relying on the first round of compliance reports issued by gatekeepers in March and October 2024, the analysis aims at providing adequate pathways to measure the DMA’s success, based on the explicit legal interests and implict policy goals fleshed out by the regulation. The paper maps out market scenarios where policymakers can assert that the DMA’s enforcement has been effective.Ciencias Jurídica
Key Competences That Allow Excellence in Teaching Practice
The Europe 2020 Education Principles emphasize the improvement of educational
processes at all levels, aiming to enhance educational standards through the integration of personal and professional competences with teaching skills. This study focuses on the validation of a new tool for assessing teaching competences, which aims to support excellence in teaching practice. Using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), the study provides evidence for the multidimensional nature of
teacher self-efficacy, supporting a four-factor model consisting of reciprocal leadership, creative potential with institutional support, didactic technical domain and active personality with metacognitive didactic capacity. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach´s Alpha, and the estimation method employed was Weighted Least Squares Means and Variance Adjusted (WLSMV), following
recommendations of Hu & Bentler (1999), such as a GFI and TLI value of at least .90 and RMSEA of .08 or less. The study demonstrated good psychometric properties, supporting the use of this tool to evaluate teaching competences in real world contexts. These findings contribute to the field by linking teaching
competences to the notion of complementarity and coexistence, fostering sustainable education and aligning with the principles of democratic teaching.
increased in comparison with the Republican period. Although only a small number
of them involved the direct adaptation of a historical drama, it is worth asking
whether for the remaining films there were dramatic sources of similar subject matter,
which had already portrayed the main historical character. Within the framework
of comparative literature studies, and paying special attention to textual analysis,
this research proposes a panoramic view of the relations between the biographical
cinema of the early Franco regime and theatrical genres (historical dramas, comedies
and zarzuelas). To this end, we establish a list of the dramatic sources likely to have
influenced each post-war biographical film. By means of a brief comparative study of
each case, we analyse whether any of these earlier theatrical sources from the baroque,
romantic or regenerationist period could have influenced each film. We conclude
that, in certain cases, there were scenes, dialogues and situations directly taken from
a previous play, as well as narrative similarities in plot and structure. We also observe
how, in the case of some direct adaptations, excessive adherence to the dramatic text
caused rigidity in the narrative and fell out of favour with audiences, while innovation
in filmmaking, while maintaining fidelity to the text, resulted in better box-office

Integrating Personal Growth in ADE Curriculum for Sustainable Impact
This conceptual study addresses the integration of intra-personal skills into Spanish business (ADE) curricula to meet sustainability challenges and impact investment demands. The research proposes a three-dimensional framework connecting (1) intra-personal competency development, (2) sustainability knowledge domains, and (3) pedagogical implementation strategies. Our analysis reveals implicit elements of introspection in current curricula but identifies a significant gap in structured approaches to intra-personal skill development. Successful integration requires comprehensive institutional support across multiple levels. This study reconceptualizes business education beyond technical competencies, offering educational practitioners a practical roadmap for curriculum redesign that develops the reflective capacities needed for responsible business leadership in sustainability contexts.Empres
There have been two major revolutionsin the history of philosophy.
The article analyzes the challenges faced by justice in contemporary democracies, highlighting its role as a guarantor of fundamental rights and a promoter of social cohesion. It points out the increase in litigation, the juridification of society, and citizen disenchantment as central issues affecting the efficiency and trust in the judicial system. Structural reforms are proposed, such as the simplification of procedures, strengthening alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and incorporating digital technologies in an ethical and efficient manner. The importance of proximity justice is also emphasized as a way to improve citizen access and reduce the perception of institutional remoteness. It is underscored that justice must address both material and symbolic inequalities, establishing itself as a continuous and participatory process that reinforces democratic values and ensures equity.Ciencias Jurídica
Does talking about advertising make me recognize it better? Incidence of parental and social mediation on the advertising literacy of the Alpha generation
Introduction:The research presented here addresses how children aged 7-10, belonging to Generation Alpha, perceive and manage the advertising content they are exposed to in digital environments. In addition, it focuses on analyzing how interactions with their parents/guardians and friends influence their ability to recognize persuasive formats and their perceived control over advertising. Methodology:This research uses a quantitative methodology with a sample of 1,304 children in Spain, applying a questionnaire that measures knowledge about advertising, the ability to recognize it and the degree of parental and social mediation. Results: The results show that children who discuss advertising with their parents have a better understanding of the advertising phenomenon and feel more able to identify advertisements. However, conversations with friends, although relevant, have less impact. In addition, children perceive greater control over digital advertising when they are more knowledgeable about it. In the end, conversations with parents about advertising not only increase children's perceived knowledge of advertising, but also reinforce their confidence in their ability to identify advertising content. Discussion: One of the main conclusions of this work indicates that parental mediation is key to children's advertising literacy, while social mediation complements this process. Conclusions: These findings underline the need to design educational programs that involve parents in advertising literacy, fostering an environment that promotes enriching conversations about advertisingComunicació
