DE L’ÉCRITURE DE SOI À L’AUTOTHÉORIE : « LE FRIGIDAIRE EST VIDE. ON PEUT LE REMPLIR » DE CHANTAL AKERMAN
Get PDFFrom Self-Writing to Autotheory: “Le frigidaire est vide. On peut le remplir” by Chantal Akerman. Chantal Akerman’s work is characterised by her ability to merge different artistic forms such as cinema, writing and contemporary art installations. These allow her to question her own identity, her family heritage and her status as a filmmaker, in a creative freedom that reflects her opposition to generic conventions and affirms her openness to experimentation. “Le frigidaire est vide. On peut le remplir” is an autotheoretical work, as Lauren Fournier defines it, incorporating elements of feminism, intersectionality, and a reflection of concepts emerging from Barthes, Deleuze, Freud and Lacan. This transdisciplinary approach is doubled by an intermedial one, since this autobiographical narrative is revisited and modified as part of a contemporary art installation that also reiterates and questions the autotheoretical elements of her work.
REZUMAT. De la scriitura autobiografică la autoteorie: „Le frigidaire est vide. On peut le remplir” de Chantal Akerman. Opera cineastei Chantal Akerman se caracterizează printr-o extraordinară capacitate de a îmbina diferite forme de exprimare artistică, precum filmul, scriitura și arta contemporană, care îi permit să-și pună sub semnul întrebării propria identitate, moștenirea familială și statutul de cineast, în spiritul libertății creatoare și a refuzului convențiilor generice, afirmându-și totodată și disponibilitatea față de experiment. Textul autobiografic „Le frigidaire est vide. On peut le remplir” poate fi considerat ca o formă de autoteorie, așa cum o definește Lauren Fournier, încorporând elemente de feminism și intersecționalitate, dar și concepte desprinse din teoriile lui Barthes, Deleuze, Freud și Lacan. Această abordare transdisciplinară este dublată de una intermedială, întrucât scriitura autobiografică devine material în sine pentru o serie de instalații de artă contemporană care pun permanent în discuție rolul și pertinența elementelor (auto)teoretice ale propriei opere.

Get PDFLife Writing as Research Creation: the Project Drifting, Phuket Trilogy 21/22. This paper addresses the practice of “self-fiction”. It also discusses various stances about the process of “life writing” as an artistic and academic research. The research creation project Drifting/À la dérive (2012-2025) consists of “sensory-scapes” often described in detail. These combine literature, visual arts, and dance. This study focuses on self-fiction within a coherent series of dance videos based on poetics, traveling and performance studies. The study also implies a creative methodology developed in academic setting. The project Drifting, Phuket Trilogy 21/22 was conceived and developed by the author of this paper, Biliana Vassileva, a dancer who has been a university professor (MCF HDR) and researcher since 2009, inspired by “practice as research” approaches to academia.
REZUMAT. Scrierea vieții ca proiect de creație-cercetare: Drifting, Trilogia Phuket 21/22. Această lucrare abordează practica „ficționalizării sinelui”. De asemenea, ea discută o serie de perspective referitoare la procesul de „scriere a existenței” văzută ca o formă de cercetare artistică și academică. Proiectul de creație-cercetare Drifting/À la dérive constă într-o suită de „peisaje senzoriale” adesea descrise în detaliu. Acestea combină literatura, artele vizuale și dansul. Studiul de față se va concentra, așadar, asupra „ficționalizării sinelui” așa cum apare în cadrul unei serii de secvențe video de dans, bazate pe călătorie, poetică și studii de performance artistic. Cercetarea implică, de asemenea, o metodologie creativă, elaborată în mediul academic. Proiectul Drifting, Phuket Trilogy 21/22 a fost conceput și dezvoltat de autoarea acestei lucrări, Biliana Vassileva, dansatoare și conferențiar universitar abilitat, ale cărei cercetări privesc, încă din 2009, abordările de tipul „practice as research” în mediul academic.

Get PDFFrom “Cryptophoric” Subject to Self-Identity: Therapeutic Writing in Nancy Huston’s Instruments des ténèbres. The rupture that occurs in the mother-daughter relationship lies at the core of the novels written by Canadian writer Nancy Huston. In this sense, the present paper aims to analyse Nadia’s identity formation, the protagonist of the novel Instruments of Darkness, who develops a series of mental traumas as a result of maternal abandonment. Starting from the filial bond and from the maternal characteristics transmitted hereditarily, but also acquired through imitation behaviour, our analysis follows the deconstruction of identity self and the consequences over the psyche of the childhood memories repressed in the Unconscious. The mutations of the psychic structures thus lead to split personality and to the configuration of the cryptophore woman’s typology that repeatedly reconstructs the lived traumas: the loss of the mother, the child and the brother. The article follows the identity crisis of the protagonist until the moment of writing, a creative act that involves the externalisation and awareness of repressed feelings and self-acceptance. Having therefore a therapeutic role, literature is analysed as a possible catalyst in the reconstruction of self-identity.
REZUMAT. De la eul „criptofor” la eul identitar al Nadiei: scrierea terapeutică în romanul Instruments des ténèbres de Nancy Huston. Nucleul central al romanelor scriitoarei canadiene Nancy Huston este reprezentat de ruptura ce se produce în relația mamă-fiică. Lucrarea de față își propune în acest sens o analiză a parcursului identitar al Nadiei, protagonista romanului Instruments des ténèbres, ce dezvoltă o serie de traumatisme mentale din cauza abandonului matern. Pornind de la raportul filial și de la caracterele materne transmise în mod ereditar, dar și dobândite prin imitarea comportamentului, analiza noastră urmărește deconstrucția eului identitar și consecințele asupra psihicului a amintirilor infantile refulate în Inconștient. Mutațiile structurilor psihice duc spre scindarea personalității și spre configurarea tipologiei de femeie criptoforă ce reconstituie în mod repetat traumele trăite: pierderea mamei, a copilului și a fratelui. Articolul urmărește criza identitară a protagonistei până în momentul scrierii, act creator ce implică exteriorizarea și conștientizarea sentimentelor refulate și acceptarea de sine. Având așadar un rol terapeutic, scrierea este analizată ca un posibil catalizator în reconstrucția eului identitar.

Get PDFFrom the exposure of the Magdalene Laundries in 1993 to the publication of the Ryan Report in 2009, the Catholic Church’s authority in the Irish Republic has struggled to resurface amid the unrelenting waves of scandal and controversy. Its waning influence over public opinion marks a profound shift in the island’s institutional history and legislative politics. In the wake of the Church’s receding power, Ellen Scheible’s 2025 book, Body Politics in Contemporary Irish Women’s Fiction: The Literary Legacy of Mother Ireland, contributes to the ongoing collective “unveiling of Ireland’s historical traumas” (4), providing an in-depth examination of the multifarious ways literature has revisited and confronted the atrocities of the past.
Through six chapters extending across multiple generations of Irish writers—such as James Joyce and Sally Rooney—the study surveys a wide-ranging selection of prose writings that challenge the idealized Revivalist image foundational to postcolonial Ireland, traditionally modeled on the sanctified figure of the Virgin Mary. With an intersectional focus on the depictions of the Irish domestic interior and the female body, Scheible argues that modern definitions of Irishness were inextricably shaped by a female subjectivity entrenched in binary constructions of gender, the patriarchal “internal policing” within the confines of “the family cell” (15), and the regulation of sexuality and reproductive autonomy
Study on interval Volterra integral equations via parametric approach of intervals
Get PDFThis work investigates the interval Volterra integral equation (IVIE) and its solution techniques through the parametric representation of intervals. First, the general form of the second-kind IVIE is expressed in both lower-upper bound format and its equivalent parametric form. Next, the methods of successive approximations and resolvent kernel are developed to solve the IVIE, utilizing parametric approaches and interval arithmetic. The solutions are presented in both parametric and lower-upper bound representations. Lastly, a series of numerical examples are provided to illustrate the application of these methods.

BIG DATA ANALYTICS AND ITS INFLUENCE ON MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING: EVIDENCE FROM SOUTHERN AFRICA

This paper explores the influence of big data and big data analytics on management accounting practices and decision making in southern Africa. We collected qualitative data from 24 management accountants in three countries using an online questionnaire with open-ended questions. The results indicate that big data analytics have changed management accounting practices, leading to better decision making. There has been a shift away from manual processing of information to automation, ensuring heightened accuracy and timely decision making. It was found that big data supported organisational strategy through improved customer service, targeted marketing and cost management. The need for management accountants to gain expertise in data analytics was identified. The results offer unique insight from a southern African perspective of the change in management accounting practices and how big data influences decision making. The findings contribute by reporting how big data can impact corporate strategy and its use in decision making.

Ecoexistentialism in Caspar David Friedrich Works: An Analysis from the Perspective of Recent Cognitive Science Discoveries
Get PDFWith this paper, I propose an interpretation of Caspar David Friedrich’s works on the 250th anniversary of his birth. Known as a romantic painter, Friedrich explored and cultivated our deep relationship with nature through his art. From the perspective of recent discoveries in the cognitive sciences, I will analyse the ingenuity of the techniques by which, using the vast and open landscape, but also the characters represented with their backs, the artist creates the right context in which the viewer has the feeling of dissolving his self in nature, the experience of identification with the elements around and above all, the living of the present sensation, through the cleavage of the self and the activation of the experiential self. Empathy and Peer Defending: Half-longitudinal Mediation Role of Social and Emotional Competencies
Get PDFEmpathy has been studied systematically in relation to school bullying. It is also an important component of bullying prevention and intervention programs aimed at promoting bystander intervention. These interventions encourage peers to intervene and defend the victim or stop the aggressor by increasing empathy levels. Previous research has highlighted that social and emotional competencies (SEC) are essential in both cognitive and affective empathy and prosocial behaviors such as defending. However, few studies have addressed the mechanisms by which empathy facilitates defense. In this study, we tested whether SEC mediate the relationship between first cognitive, then affective empathy and defending in a cross-lagged panel model for a half-longitudinal design. Participants included 414 adolescents with answers at both time points, and 281 with answers only at T1. The mean age of participants at T1 was 12.72 (SD = 1.14), while for T2 it was 12.30 (SD = 0.89). Results confirm the indirect effect of empathy on defending through SEC only for cognitive empathy and not for affective empathy
Quality of Life, Risk Behavior, and Digital Engagement
Get PDFThis study examines the relationship between quality of life factors, risk-taking behaviors, and the perceived importance of mobile apps. Regression analysis revealed that quality of life factors explain 10.3% of the variance in risk-taking (R² = 0.103). Satisfaction with learning was negatively associated with risk-taking (β = −0.56, p < .01), while satisfaction with creativity (β = 0.44, p < .05) and friendships (β = 0.41, p < .05) showed positive associations. A second analysis found that quality of life factors explain 8.8% of the variance in app importance (R² = 0.088), with satisfaction with learning (β = 0.11, p = 0.022) and love (β = 0.07, p = 0.014) as significant predictors. These findings highlight how life satisfaction influences both risk-taking and digital engagement
