THE EVOLUTION OF NATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART: MUSICAL INTERPRETATION IN THE CONTEXT OF TRADITION AND MODERNITY

    Get PDF
The subject of this research is the essence of performing interpretation, which is considered an integral part of the functioning of a musical work from its creation to its presentation to the audience. The research methodology is based on a comparative analysis of historical and music-theoretical sources, an analysis of approaches to the definition and classification of different types of interpretation. The research compares the performing interpretation with other types of interpretation of contemporary music – composer’s and sound director’s interpretation. Interpretation is considered in relation to the concept of performance – if performance implies the physical act of playing a musical instrument or singing, the concept of interpretation is the ideal image of a musical work formed by the performer in the process of studying it. A comparative analysis of various definitions of the concept of interpretation allows us to conclude that the basis of interpretation is a thought process, understanding of its intonational features, including the analysis of the musical text, studying the circumstances of the composition of the work, stylistic and genre features. The issue of the correlation between the individual and the traditional in the course of forming an interpretation is important: the performer must take into account all the features of the musical text, the traditions of performing music of the relevant era and the relevant genres, while within the framework of traditions, the performer always has the space to bring his or her own individual understanding and performance characteristics. The issue of objective analysis of interpretations based on sound recordings is raised. Given the complexity of objective auditory analysis, we believe that the development of software that will allow us to identify agogic and dynamic features of performance at the level of individual sounds in musical phrases is a promising direction

LUIGI NONO’S IL CANTO SOSPESO – A MODERN REPRESENTATION OF SACRIFICE

    Get PDF
In this article, we will explore Luigi Nono’s Il Canto Sospeso as a modern representation of sacrifice, structured within the framework of total serialism. The piece highlights its textual foundation, which plays a central role in conveying the ideological message of the composition. The text is taken from Lettere di condannati a morte della Resistenza europea (1954), a collection of letters written by those sentenced to death during the European Resistance. The work is divided into four literary sections, each representing a transformation of the concepts of death and sacrifice: literary, realist, transitional, and compassionate. Through its serialist technique, Nono adapts the thematic elements of the text to the rigid and fearful context of the 20th century. The music not only enhances the text’s meaning but also provides a modern and emotional interpretation of sacrifice, focusing on its psychological and personal impact rather than a historical narrative

DECONSTRUCTING BOUNDARIES BETWEEN ANIMALS AND HUMANS. THE SERPENT IN THE GREEK LIFE OF ADAM AND EVE

    Get PDF
Scholars have proposed various explanations to the puzzling conversation between the serpent and Eve, between an animal and a human in the narrative of the Fall and in the Greek Life of Adam and Eve. I argue here that a Derridean reading highlights the ways the narrative deconstructs the boundary between human and animal. I explore the similarity between the human and the serpent both in terms of appearance (an upright posture and limbs, being “furless”), and abilities (voice, speech, and reason, fear of God). I discuss the identity and specific features of the serpent, focusing on the similarities and differences between human and the serpent, implied in the rewritten narrative of the Fall, in the dialogue between Eve and the serpent, and the episode of the punishment. Relationality as a Theological Method. Relationality as a theological method examines the methodological framework that unites globalization, multiculturalism, postmodern thought, and contemporary science. The relational perspective is not only an increasingly recognized approach to understanding reality but also offers a new perspective in theology. It appears particularly significant in existentialist philosophy and theology, where it provides a fundamental framework for exploring the dynamic relationships between humanity, the world, and God. Drawing on the methodological approaches of Ebeling and Tillich, as well as Kenan Osborne’s relational method, this study seeks to connect contemporary challenges with traditional religious perspectives. Through the concept and methodology of relationality, new layers of meaning emerge. The aim is to demonstrate how this methodological approach is understood and applied in addressing the relevance and applicability of theology today

Lehet-e nagyobbat álmodni? Muzslay István SJ lehetetlennek tűnő küldetése

Can We Dream Bigger? The Seemingly Impossible Mission of István Muzslay SJ. Anyone who has lived abroad for years or has experienced a minority existence knows exactly how much of a struggle it is to preserve one’s identity. In this struggle, Jesuit priest István Muzslay created a lasting impact through his work among young Hungarian students in Belgium. In recent years, the Hungarian Province of the Society of Jesus has been increasingly striving to present the lives and works of their fellow members who were forced to emigrate abroad after World War II to a wider Hungarian and international audience. Due to the historical context, many Jesuits had to spend most of their lives abroad and could not return to Hungary until the collapse of communism. For this reason, the mentioned works that present their activities are not only filling a gap in the Catholic public consciousness but are also significant for all Hungarians, as several of the emigrant Jesuits led Hungarian communities in their new homeland for decades, helping the new generation born in emigration to maintain both their faith and their Hungarian identity. In my article, first of all, I seek to answer the question of what the significance was of the work carried out by István Muzslay, the leader of a Hungarian community in Belgium over the decades. What does the entire Hungarian society owe to this selfless work? At the same time, I aim to demonstrate that without leaders like Muzslay, who were committed to both Christian and national values, the fate of Hungarian emigrants would have been incomparably more difficult in their new homeland

The Theology of the Hutterite (Habanese) Community of Alwinz. The Hutterites of Alwinz came under the scrutiny of the Viennese court and the Jesuit order in the mid-18th century, especially the coercive proselytizing mission led by the Jesuit friar Delphini of Nitra. The primary intention was to dismantle the Anabaptist colony through forced conversion while simultaneously strengthening the Catholic community in Alwinz, which was funded by the Portuguese Fund of Alwinz and supported by the Bulgarian Franciscans. The community, already on the brink of economic collapse, was further pushed towards bankruptcy by the emergence of private property forms and the disappearance (or transformation) of traditional markets. In this difficult economic situation, two imperial investigations – one Catholic and one Lutheran – were imposed on the community. These aimed not only to prove heretical doctrines but also to examine the Alwinz community’s ties with the transmigrants of Klagenfurt, who were simultaneously suspected of Herrnhutism and Anabaptism. The theological investigations provide insight into the spirituality of the Alwinz community, including their social relations and their views on the doctrine of the Trinity. Our study summarizes the research findings, shedding light on the spirituality of the Anabaptists of Alwinz and their descendants, who later migrated to Saxon territories, Canada, and the United States

MOLYBDENUM FLAT COIL FILAMENT FOR SAMPLE INTRODUCTION AND MULTIELEMENTAL DETERMINATION BY SMALL-SIZED ELECTROTHERMAL VAPORIZATION CAPACITIVELY COUPLED MICROPLASMA OPTICAL EMISSION SPECTROMETRY

    Get PDF
A novel small-sized electrothermal vaporization device including a molybdenum flat coil filament was studied for sample introduction into a capacitively coupled microplasma (SSETV-µCCP-OES) for the simultaneous multielemental determination of Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Hg, Se, Te, Sb and Bi by optical emission spectrometry. The limits of detection, obtained by this experimental setup were 2–25 times lower than those previously obtained using a Rh coil filament, ranging from 0.16 µg L–1 for Cd to 10.7 µg L–¹ for Se. This improvement was primarily attributed to the more efficient heating of the Mo flat coil filament compared to the Rh coil filament, considering that Rh has a lower melting point and therefore must be heated more gradually. Consequently, in the transient spectra recorded using the Mo flat coil filament the maximum signal intensities were observed earlier, ranging from 1.5 s for Hg to 3.3 s for Zn, compared to those obtained with the Rh coil filament, which ranged from 2.4 s for Hg to 5.3 s for Cu. The results demonstrate the strong analytical potential of the SSETV device with the Mo flat coil filament, for the simultaneous multielemental trace metal analysis

The effects of bulk, biologic and nano-form fertilizers on Zea mays growth under irrigated circumstances

In practical plant biology, nanotechnology has involvements on every step of cropping, such as early growing, maintenance, harvesting and post harvesting and it has caused remarkable changes in findings solutions for facing problems. A trial was done to study the effects of different fertilizers on maize performance. The trial compared NPK bulk fertilizer, synthetic nano-sized fertilizers (boron, zinc, and complete), and biological fertilizers. Analyzing the data through principal component (PC) analysis indicated that the PC1 and PC2 explained for 56 and 27% of the variability in the dataset. Synthetic nano-zinc and nano-boron emerged as the most promising fertilizers, showcasing superior performance in terms of yield performance and yield components. A vector-tool biplot highlighted a robust positively correlation between chlorophyll content and straw yield, along with similar trends in grain yield and number of kernels per ear. Conventional bulk fertilizer (NPK) showed relatively lower efficiency across most evaluated traits. Based on ideal trait biplot, biological yield and stem diameter exhibited similar properties like to ideal trait, while oil percentage and hundred grain weight demonstrated unfavorable performance across treatments. This analysis underscores the efficacy of the treatment × trait biplot in elucidating relationships among traits and facilitating visual comparisons between different fertilizers. Overall, the findings underscore the significant enhancement of various maize cultivation traits through the application of synthetic nano-zinc and boron fertilizers, particularly in full irrigation condition.  Article history: Received 15 March 2024; Revised 16 December 2024; Accepted 5 May 2025; Available online 25 June 202

Influence of soil depth on seedling growth and development of Amaranthus viridis L. after amendment with organic fertilizer

    Get PDF
The implications of applying organic fertilizers made from dried cow dung and food waste on the seedling development and growth of Amaranthus viridis at different soil horizons was examined in the current study. The experiment was set up in a completely randomized design, with 6 profile depths x 3 fertilizer treatments x 3 replicates each, totaling 54 bowls. The set up was left for 5 weeks. The findings demonstrated that cow dung manure provided adequate plant nutrients for enhancing seedling growth A. viridis. Although 0.05 g seeds of A. viridis was sown in the bowls, emergence capacities under varying soil conditions differed. Amending the soils with food waste manure hampered emergence capacities of the test plant. There were only six (06) sprouts at the first week compared to 46 in the control. Despite the observation that soil horizon and organic fertilizer application had no discernible effect on the root length of 5 - week - old seedlings (which varied between 1.3 cm and 2.3 cm), the use of manure was associated with a decrease in foliar chlorosis incidence. Without manure, foliar chlorotic incidence was 58 % in the 61 – 75 cm soil profile depth, compared to 35.0 – 35.2 % when soils were amended with either cow - dung or dried food waste manure. Ultimately, while deeper soil horizons initially posed challenges for growth, soil amendment successfully alleviated these unfavorable conditions.
