Zukunft. Für Beschäftigte bedeutet dies nicht nur einen erheblichen Vorteil
im eigentlichen Arbeitsprozess, sondern auch im Bereich der betrieblichen
Weiterbildung. Dieser Beitrag bietet eine Übersicht von KI-Tutoring-Systemen
im Bereich der Weiterbildung im Kontext von Industrie 4.0. Dabei wird eine
Kategorisierung vorgestellt, die verschiedene Ansätze von KI-Tutoring-Systemen
nach Lernmethoden, Anwendungsbereichen und deren jeweiligen Technologien
diskutiert. Darüber hinaus wird ein Ausblick auf die disruptive Wirkung von
generativer KI auf KI-Tutoring-Systeme in der Industrie 4.0 gegeben
Der russische Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine in den deutschen Medien: Kritik des Maßstabs „ausgewogene Bewertung“ in Inhaltsanalysen
Get PDFInhaltsanalysen über die Darstellung von Konflikten in den Medien werden häufig durchgeführt, um den Vorwurf der Einseitigkeit empirisch zu überprüfen. Dies wirft die normative Frage auf, wie die Forderung nach einer ausgewogenen Bewertung, d. h. einer Gleichverteilung positiver und negativer Bewertungen zwischen Kontrahenten, als Qualitätsmaßstab rechtfertigt werden kann und wie dies fallbezogen, d. h. kontextabhängig geschehen muss. Diese Frage wird am Beispiel von Inhaltsanalysen zum russischen Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine diskutiert. In einer qualitativen Metastudie von 22 Inhaltsanalysen wurden zunächst induktiv acht Annahmen zur Rechtfertigung der Anwendung des Maßstabs für diesen Fall ermittelt. Vier davon beziehen sich auf das Verhältnis der Medien zu ihrer Umwelt: zur journalistischen Profession, der Medien untereinander sowie zum Publikum und zur Politik. Vier weitere Begründungen sind vom Verhältnis der Medien zum Krieg als Thema abgeleitet: zum normativ „richtigen“ und „falschen“ Handeln der Kontrahenten, zur Antizipation negativer Folgen, zum Framing des Kriegs als Machtkonflikt (statt als Konflikt um Werte) und aus der Position des Werterelativismus. Die Forderung nach einer ausgewogenen Bewertung war in den Studien häufig mit der Kritik an einer angeblich zu negativen Sicht der russischen Seite verknüpft. Die Diskussion der Fundstellen zeigt, dass die Argumente zur Rechtfertigung einer ausgewogenen Bewertung für den vorliegenden Fall nur begrenzt oder gar nicht tauglich sind. Damit kann die Studie zeigen, dass das Problem der „False Balance“ nicht nur im Bereich des Wissens, sondern auch des Wertens zu finden ist. Fulfilling data access obligations: How could (and should) platforms facilitate data donation studies?
Get PDFResearch into digital platforms has become increasingly difficult. One way to overcome these difficulties is to build on data access rights in EU data protection law, which requires platforms to offer users a copy of their data. In data donation studies, researchers ask study participants to exercise this right and donate their data to science. However, there is increasing evidence that platforms do not comply with designated laws. We first discuss the obligations of data access from a legal perspective (with accessible, transparent, and complete data as key requirements). Next, we compile experiences from social scientists engaging in data donation projects as well as a study on data request/access. We identify 14 key challenges, most of which are a consequence of non-compliance by platforms. They include platforms’ insufficient adherence to (a) providing data in a concise and easily accessible form (e.g. the lack of information on when and how subjects can access their data); (b) being transparent about the content of their data (e.g. the lack of information on measures); and (c) providing complete data (e.g. the lack of all available information platforms process related to platform users). Personal Responsibility and Beyond: Developing a Comprehensive Conceptualization of Digital Citizenship Competences
Get PDFAs digital transformation reshapes society, it is crucial to understand the evolving demands on education to prepare individuals for this new reality. Although the conceptualizations and objectives vary, digital citizenship education (DCE) typically aims to equip individuals with the competencies necessary not just to thrive in digital and democratic societies but also to critically analyze and actively shape them. However, existing efforts often focus too narrowly on technical skills and online safety, overlooking the broader notion of citizenship in educational contexts. This article addresses this gap by examining the conceptualization of citizenship within the field of DCE, led primarily by the structure of Choi’s (2016) concept analysis, and proposing a more comprehensive framework based on the citizenship ideals by Westheimer and Kahne (2004). Drawing on existing frameworks and synthesizing various DCE approaches, the article presents the Integrated Framework of Abilities for Digital Citizenship (Infra-DC). We then examine existing measurement instruments to determine their alignment with the proposed framework. COVID-19 and Platform Work in Germany: Lessons for the New Normal
Get PDFDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, when public life was largely brought to a standstill by lockdowns and curfews, the vast presence of last-mile-delivery workers rushing to deliver parcels, grocery shopping or take- away-meals on the streets of German cities came to the fore. Platform-based service provision has become widespread in recent years. The platform economy more than quadrupled in recent years, reaching a size of 14bn EUR in 2020, compared to just 3bn EUR in 2016 (European Council 2023). COVID-19 has created an exceptional situation, both for platforms and platform workers: Platform companies faced unstable economic conditions and government restrictions. Meanwhile, many platform workers, especially in the delivery and mobility sector, were exposed to significant health risks as they ensured the upholding of social reproduction throughout the pandemic. However, public attention for the perils of platform workers has quickly died down again. Today, the platform economy continues to provide sought-after services and constitutes a source of income for a growing number of workers struggling with precarious employment conditions. MINODU: Fostering Local Sustainable Development Through Technology and Research
Get PDFRapid climate change is exposing subsistence farmers to enormous challenges, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. Several foreign aid programs have been set up to cope with these issues, many of which have focused on technical solutions. However, there seems to be a large gap between scientific research and the needs of local communities. Besides focusing on new ways to improve the resilience of local food production, there is also an urgent need to adapt available knowledge to the local context. Based on experiences from a project to co-create community networks in Togo in 2020, we aim to empower local stakeholders, including farmers and scientists, to adapt existing knowledge of sustainable crop farming to current practices. New modes of knowledge exchange can be established with the help of participatory design. Learning via assistance systems in industrial manufacturing. An experimental study in an Industry 4.0 environment
