The Holyrood Safer and Active Routes to School project is an example of a practical, evidence based health promotion intervention which has successfully integrated a variety of health promotion topics and resulted in collaboration between several health promoting agencies. The aim of the project was to develop and evaluate a model programme of health promotion for people who have a major mental health problem. The research project yielded information about the health and lifestyles of this client group and their health promotion needs, as well as assessing the benefits of providing a tailored programme of health promotion. The lessons learned from the delivery of this programme formed the basis of a rigorously evaluated programme of training in health promotion for professional staff in the MHRCs

Pictures of mens health; a men's health needs assessment for Drumchapel
To achieve this aim four main objectives were set for the pilot year of the project.
1. To establish a men's health project which will provide an 'open door' for men seeking help with physical, emotional and mental health problems.
2. To carry out a men's health needs assessment for Drumchapel.
3. To develop a 'survival pack' for men which would include health promotion leaflets geared specifically towards men as well as local information.

The Choices Clinic is part of a range of services which have been set up by the Health Promotion Department of Greater Glasgow Health Board as part of an initiative to address inequalities in health. Evaluation SouthWest SafeKids event

for a three week period in April and May of this year, in the grounds of Quarriers Village, Bridge of
Weir. The aim of experiential learning is for children to learn by doing and thinking, rather than
sitting passively at a lecture. Becoming involved in lifelike situations is proven to be an effective
way for them to gain experience they will remember and, hopefully, apply in real life situations
