    Accounting Information and Financial Decision Making in Organizations in Kabale District.

    The study examined the role of accounting information in financial decision-making within organizations in Kabale District, guided by three objectives: to assess the impact of transaction processing systems on organizational decision-making, to evaluate the influence of decision support systems on decision-making, and to explore the relationship between information systems and decision-making in these organizations. A sample of 80 respondents participated in the research, which employed both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection methods included interviews and questionnaires. The findings revealed that information systems, particularly transaction processing systems, significantly enhance decision-making by efficiently managing a large number of operations simultaneously. The study recommended that organizations invest in improving the functionality of transaction processing systems through increased funding and better management, as this would enhance cost management and overall decision-making efficiency. The study concluded that all objectives were successfully addressed. The first objective demonstrated that transaction processing systems play a vital role in decision-making. Proper utilization of these systems is likely to improve cost management practices within financial institutions, thereby contributing to better financial decision-making processes

    Design and Prototype of an Automatic Device Which Can Detect a Distribution Transformer that has Gone Off.

    The increasing demand for reliable and uninterrupted power supply necessitates the development of advanced monitoring systems for distribution transformers. This project focuses on the design and prototyping of an automatic device capable of detecting when a distribution transformer has gone off the grid. The system is designed to promptly identify power outages by continuously monitoring transformer status and automatically alerting maintenance personnel through a GSM-based communication system. This innovative approach aims to reduce downtime, improve response times, and ensure a more stable power distribution network. The device's ability to swiftly detect and report transformer failures can significantly enhance the efficiency of maintenance operations and minimize the impact of power disruptions on end-users

    Assess the Effect of Cultural Resources on Tourism Development in and Around Lake Mburo National Park.

    This study examined the effect of cultural resources on tourism development in and around Lake Mburo. Recent national tourism policies have been aimed at promoting cultural resources tourism, signifying that cultural resources tourism could be potentially one of the most important areas in the growth of the country’s tourism industry. While tourism development has contributed to the country’s economic growth, for cultural resources, the thrust of the tourism industry is to make the most of the country’s non-renewable resources. Knowledge leading to improvements in the development of cultural resources tourism is important, as knowledge is a primary means of strengthening its positive aspects and simultaneously mitigating its negative aspects so that development can maintain long-term viability. This study also explores some of the key management issues relating to the development of cultural resources tourism at both Federal and State levels. A broad understanding is necessary for providing a firm basis for prescribing a thorough and realistic sustainable development framework. The study employed questionnaires, surveys, and interviews with a range of government officials, local communities, and tourists. The findings indicate that the government has played a major role in shaping the development of sustainable cultural resources tourism in Lake Mburo, but at present, there are many shortcomings that need to be addressed, such as definitions of the term Cultural Resources, as well as management issues, including conflicts and bureaucratic barriers. These problems, consequently, hinder the comprehensive management of cultural resources tourism. Finally, it suggests a Sustainable Cultural Resources Tourism Framework, incorporating social and cultural elements

    Mathematical Model for Transmission and Control of Covid-19 in Human Population of Kigezi Sub-region.

    In this research, an SEIR model is based on the fact that it describes the transmission dynamics of COVID-19 virus disease in humans, mainly from the Kigezi subregion. The model suggests that S stands for susceptible, E stands for exposed, I stands for infected, and finally, R stands for removed or recovered from the system. The parameters such as B indicates the entry of a new population into the system of the model, β indicates the rate at which the susceptible individuals are exposed to the disease, n shows the infection rate, μ natural death rate, t recovery rate, and α shows the death resulting from the disease. When analyzing the disease-free equilibrium, we equate the susceptible to zero such that, for the rest, we set them to be zero ie, E = 0, I = 0, and R = 0, and thereafter we obtain {So,Eo, Io,Ro} = { }. At disease equilibrium, and from there we analyze the equilibrium points of each stage. The basic reproductive number R0 is given by FV-1 where F and V are matrices obtained from f{x} and v{x} and where Fx is newly infected and Vx is the other term. The sensitivity index shows the effect of each parameter used in the equation and how it can affect the results of the model, therefore it's obtained from the given formula as R0 = where R0 is the basic reproductive number and P indicates any parameter used in the model formulatio

    Effects of Monetary Reward on Employee Performance: A Case Study of Kahondo Education SACCO.

    The study examined the factors contributing to the persistent poor performance of employees in microfinance institutions. It focused on the rewards and incentives utilized by Kahondo SACCO, the impact of salaries and wages on employee performance, and the role of bonuses in enhancing performance. The research employed a descriptive design to gather information after incidents had occurred, incorporating qualitative methods such as interviews. Data was collected through questionnaires and interview guides, using simple random and purposive sampling techniques. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used to analyze data from a sample size of 30 respondents. The findings revealed that Kahondo Education Sacco used various rewards, including monetary incentives, non-monetary opportunities, employee recognition, and benefits in kind. It was found that quality is a crucial long-term business strategy, and motivating employees leads to higher performance. The need for satisfaction and achievement through skilled and autonomous work was emphasized. Salaries and wages were identified as significant motivators for effective performance, with effective performance appraisal systems creating a motivated and committed workforce. The study also highlighted that discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing bonuses, year-end bonuses, and other forms of bonuses motivate employees, attract joint investments, and form part of employee recognition and rewards programs. The study recommended that SACCOs should consistently provide rewards such as monetary and financial rewards, employee recognition, non-monetary opportunities, and employee assistance programs to improve morale and motivation, ultimately enhancing performance

    Role of Pastoral Care on Church Growth: A Case Study of Muko Parish Rubanda District.

    The study assessed the contributions of pastoral care on church growth. A case study of Muko parish Rubanda district following the objectives of the study which were to find out the services offered by pastoral care to the church growth of Muko district, to explore the challenges faced by pastoral care in the transformation of the Christian community in Muko parish Rubanda district and to find out possible strategies that promote pastoral care in the transformation of the Christian community of Muko parish Rubanda district. A descriptive research design was used and data collection tools were both interviews and questionnaires. A sample of 80 respondents was used for the study. Results of the study revealed that Spiritual Counselling and Community outreach are needed as well. The study concluded that leadership development emerged as the most critical service, reflecting its pivotal role in enhancing church effectiveness and growth. The emphasis on training and mentoring aligns with literature that underscores the importance of strong leadership in driving church success. Marriage and Family Support and Home Visitation were also highly valued, highlighting the need for personal and relational support in fostering a cohesive and engaged congregation. These services are well-supported by literature, which emphasizes their role in member satisfaction and retention. Prayer and Healing Services, Community Outreach, and Youth and Children's Ministry were important but less emphasized. These services contribute to church vitality and align with best practices for engaging different segments of the community. The study recommended that the church leaders from the church council in Muko Parish like other leaders in development, and community leaders in Uganda should collaborate with political leaders to have a keen direction of rural development by facilitating rural communities with education services in the form of building schools and paying school fees for students at different levels within Muko Parish

    Design of a Sugar Cane Juice Extracting Machine.

    Basically, the essence of this report is to design and develop a machine from available resources capable of extracting juice from sugar canes, specifically for local farmers. The sugar cane juice extracting machine is constructed to assist these farmers and juice vendors in extracting juice after harvesting following challenges they face negatively impact sugarcane juice vendors, profitability, poor quality juice, increased labor costs, and slow production rates. Use of hands and manual machines to extract juice. The machine is designed to use electricity as a source of power to the AC motor which provides rotational speed to the roller shaft through the pulley and belt system. This system plays two important roles. One is to transmit torque from the motor to the shaft and the second one is to reduce speed. It acts as a speed-reducer mechanism instead of using a gearbox. This is achieved by connecting a pulley of a small diameter on the motor shaft and a bigger pulley to the roller shaft with the use of a belt. The machine consists of various components like the hopper, which receives the sugarcane, the crushing roller which crushes the sugarcane a motor that provides power, and the frame to provide support to the entire assembly. The general objective of the study was; to develop an easy, and effective sugar cane juice-extracting machine. The methods included library search, field surveys, internet search, and interviews. Reviewing design parameters of different scholars to come up with the conceptual design and developing the layout by use of SOLID WORKS. The design for different major components was carried out while others were just selected. Stress analysis and simulations were also performed to study the behavior of the shaft

    Investigating Soil Moisture Content and Ph Levels in Eucalyptus Forest: A Case Study of Kabale District South Western Uganda.

    Eucalyptus trees are known for their negative impact on the physio-chemical properties of soils, with particular concerns regarding soil water and pH levels. This study examined the relationship between soil pH and moisture content at varying distances from eucalyptus plantations in Kabale District, southwestern Uganda. Soil samples were collected at distances of 0 meters (within the plantation), 5 meters, 10 meters, 20 meters, and 30 meters from the plantation, with the sampling conducted at a selected site on Kihumuro Hill, east of Kabale Municipality. Soil moisture was determined using the gravimetric method, where fresh soil samples were dried in an oven at 105°C for 8 hours. The difference between the fresh and dry weights was calculated as the moisture content. Soil pH was measured using a pH meter by immersing it in a soil solution and recording the displayed pH value. The findings revealed that soil pH decreased closer to the eucalyptus trees, reaching a pH of 4.9 at 0 meters from the plantation. Similarly, soil moisture content declined as the distance to the eucalyptus trees decreased, dropping from 25% at 30 meters to 2.04% at 0 meters

    Utilization of Educational School Facilities Among Students in a Selected Tertiary Institution in South East Nigeria.

    Background: Educational school facilities are indispensable in the teaching and learning process because they enhance understanding, application, and retention of knowledge. Despite the importance of these educational facilities in increasing the performance of students, studies assessing their utilization are scarce. Objectives: The objective of the study was to assess the utilization of educational school facilities among students of a Nursing training institution in South East Nigeria. Methods: The study was a cross-sectional, descriptive, non-experimental, questionnaire-based study. A stratified sampling technique was used to select 130 students from the first, second, and third years who participated in the study. Results: There was poor utilization of the demonstration room partly due to the poor equipment of the laboratory and the school policy of insisting that the student replace any damaged item. There was poor utilization of the computer laboratory for learning mostly due to the non-availability of internet services. Conclusion: We recommend that government and non-governmental agencies join hands in re-equipping the educational facilities and provide the needed manpower to make the facilities suitable and conducive for students

    Evaluation of Organic Pesticides for Pest Control in Cabbages (Brassica Oleracea).

    A field experiment was carried out at the study and research farm Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Science Kable university between 2023 to 2024 to evaluate the effectiveness of local organic sources of organic pesticides in the control of pests, and weeds, and increasing the yield of cabbages(Brassicae olarecea). Five(5) treatments were used namely wood ash extracts, tobacco leaf extracts, a mixture of wood ash+tobacco leaf extracts, cypermethrin, and control(no pesticide used) were arranged in a randomized complete block design and replicated three(3) times. The results showed significant increases(P<0.05) in the growth and head yield parameters of cabbage crops under the different organic pesticides in pest control in cabbages. The plant height of cabbages under wood ash extracts increased by 51,27, 32, and 80% compared to cypermethrin, tobacco leaf extracts, tobacco+wood ash extracts, and control treatments respectively. The highest values of cabbage's head yield parameters were obtained under wood ash extracts followed by cypermethrin, tobacco leaf extracts, tobacco+wood ash extracts, and control treatment respectively, and control treatment (no pesticide used) with the lowest yield parameters. Tobacco+wood ash extracts had the best yield weight, Leaf biomass, root biomass, and benefit-cost ratio and this could be because of the combined effect of active ingredients (nicotine and calcium carbonate) that reduced the pests, and weeds and hence increased the yields
