Spatial distribution of grassland and sparsely vegetated land in Central Asia from 2000 to 2014

    No full text
Spatial distribution of grassland and sparsely vegetated land in Central Asia from 2000 to 2014. Raster data was done for Exacerbated grassland degradation and desertification in Central Asia during 2000–2014 study. The data was generated by using standard deviation of Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) during thermal growing season (EVITGS). The resolution is 463 m, and the coordinate system is Sinusoidal, projected to WGS84. 0 and 1 mean grassland and sparsely vegetated land, respectively

Soil Moisture Daily Records for Different Water Harvesting Treatments, Jordan, 2017

    No full text
Soil moisture daily records for two months during the 2017 winter/spring rainy season, at the water benchmark site established in 2005 in Al-Majeddyeh. The soil moisture records were taken using the Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) device. The readings were taken at different depths and for different treatments, inside the Vallerani micro water harvesting, in between the Vallerani lines, and inside the continuous contour line. The measurement was executed by local farmers, who were trained and equipped to read out the soil moisture data at different depths. The data were collected through hard copy sheets - entered and analyzed in the office

2017 ICARDA Barley FIGS Set for Frost Tolerance

    No full text
The FIGSICBFrost2017 FIGS set was created using the Focused Identification of Germplasm Strategy FIGS (http://figs.icarda.org). Daily minimal temperature and precipitation combined with onset information were used for this process. An index was computed using mean and StDev of minimal temperature, the number of days and consecutive days with a minimum temperature below 0 degrees Celsius. We applied a filtering approach by using a threshold for the index to select environments that are likely to have imposed a selection pressure for low temperature tolerance on in situ populations over time. Furthermore, WorldClim data was used to maximize the climatic diversity within this set. FIGSICBFrost2017 is the name of the FIGS subset including the crop, trait name and the year of construction

List of dams, water tanks and ponds under the responsability of the Jordan Valley Authority - WAJ database, Jordan, 2017

    No full text
The dataset was provided by the Dam Department of the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ). The database was originally in Arab and was translated in english in order to be compared with other datasets. The database enlists 363 sites related to Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) interventions, divided in three categories: dams, tanks and ponds. The dataset includes also some notes form ICARDA-UNIFI, that tried to validate the data using satelite images during 2017

    FIGS_ICDW_Salinity_2017

    No full text
The salinity FIGS set contains 146 accessions including 126 durum wheat landraces (Triticum turgidum subsp. durum), 9 cultivated emmer (Triticum turgidum subsp. dicoccum) and 11 wild emmer (Triticum turgidum subsp. dicoccoides). This set was created using the Focused Identification of Germplasm Strategy FIGS (http://figs.icarda.org). Percentage sodicity (ESP) and salinity (Ece) in ds/m measured by electroconductivity at top and subsoil from the Harmonized World Soil Database v 1.2. (http://www.fao.org/soils-portal/soil-survey/soil-maps-and-databases/harmonized-world-soil-database-v12/en/) were used for this process. We applied a filtering approach by using a threshold for each of the variables to select environments that are likely to have imposed a selection pressure for salinity tolerance on in situ populations over time. Furthermore, WorldClim data was used to maximize the climatic diversity within this set. FIGSICDWSalinity2017 is the name of the FIGS subset including the crop, trait name and the year of construction

Agricultural water productivity for irrigated areas in 2006

    No full text
The dataset contains one of the layers produced for “Supporting Coordination and Cooperation in Water Management in the Euphrates and Tigris Area CPET” project. The project aims to assess the status of water use in agriculture in the Euphrates-Tigress basin, determine and map the agricultural water productivity and identify options for improving it in problem areas of the basin in Turkey, Syria and Iraq. Agricultural Water Productivity (WPM) (kg/m3) was determined for each pixel by dividing crop productivity (kg/ha) raster layer by seasonal crop water use in terms of actual evapotranspiration (m3/ha) raster layer. The WPM was for 2006, which was a normal year based on the annual mean precipitation data at the basin level estimated by SIWI. The irrigated areas were determined based on IWMI’s irrigated and rainfed area mapping procedures

2017 ICARDA Bread Wheat Crown Rot FIGS Subset

The FIGS_ICBW_CrownRot_2017 FIGS set was created using the Focused Identification of Germplasm Strategy FIGS (http://figs.icarda.org). We used the FAO's harmonized soil database to construct this set. Furthermore, WorldClim data was used to maximize the climatic diversity within this set. FIGS_ICBW_CrownRot_2017 is the name of the FIGS subset including the crop, trait name and the year of construction

The rainfed areas were determined based on IWMI’s irrigated and rainfed area mapping procedures

Statistics on Gender and Education in Tunisia

    No full text
In this dataset, the main education aspects are collected in order to monitor the situation and trend in Tunisia. It considers mainly the gender, age and education level aspects. The data are not collected in the field but downloaded from other web sources (WorldBank, UNDP, Statistique Tunisia, Unicef, UNSTATS, UIS Data Center). The period considered is from the year 1996 to 2014

Atriplex and Ratam Survival Rates in Watershed, Jordan, 2017

    No full text
Data contains the survival rates measured in the Al-Majeddyeh watershed in Jordan. The survival rate is taking for 500 planted shrubs for the year 2017. Shrubs are Atriplex and Ratam. Reading is being recorded on a monthly basis between the 1st-7th of each month. The measurement has been taken by local farmers, who were trained and equipped to read out plant monitoring data (plant height and diameter) and record the status of these. Then, the data collected on hard copy sheets entered and analyzed in the office
