An analysis of the functions and meanings of have a big mouth
英語のhave a big mouth という表現は, 多くの辞書が「しゃべりすぎる」と「秘密を守れない」という二つの意味を記述している. 本研究では, これらの意味記述では不十分であり, この表現が文脈に応じて様々な意味に解釈されうるということをコーパスの実例を用いて実証する. そしてこの表現の根本的な意味である「誰かの発言に対する不快感の表明」ということを理解することがこの表現を訳す際にいかに重要であるかを示す.Many dictionaries observe that the English phrase have a big mouth has mainly two meanings: “to talk too much” and “to be bad at keeping secrets”. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that those descriptions are not accurate and that the phrase can be open to interpretation depending on the context, using corpora. This study also shows how important it is to understand the fundamental meaning of the phrase, which is “to express displeasure with what someone said”, when learners translate it into Japanese.departmental bulletin pape
Validity of Isometric Muscle Strength Measurements of the Shoulder External Rotation Using a Hand-held Dynamometer with Belt Stabilization
「目的」肩関節外旋筋力の定量的測定値を得るために,ベルト固定をしたハンドヘルドダイナモメーター測定方法の妥当性を検討した.「対象」若年健常者25名とした.「方法」ベルト固定をしたハンドヘルドダイナモメーターによる肩関節外旋筋力測定は1名の検者が測定した.ハンドヘルドダイナモメーターによる測定の妥当性は,BIODEX による測定値を外的基準とした基準関連妥当性を検討した.「結果」ピアソンの相関係数は有意な相関が認められた(r =0.89).Bland-Altman 分析では固定誤差が認められた.「結論」ベルト固定をしたハンドヘルドダイナモメーターによる肩関節外旋筋力測定方法は,固定誤差を考慮した上で測定値の比較をすることにより,臨床応用に値する妥当性が得られると考えられた.[Purpose] To investigate the validity of a measurement method using a hand-held dynamometer (HHD) fixed with a belt. The HHD tested the strength of the shoulder external rotation (SER). [Subject] The participants were 25 young healthy adults. [Methods] The strength of the SER was measured by one tester for consistency. The value of the BIODEX was utilized to establish as an objective standard for this study. [Result] Pearson correlation coefficients showed significant correlations between the measurements and the BIODEX standard. Bland-Altman analysis showed a fixed bias. [Conclusion]By considering the fixed bias, comparing the measured values, we thought that muscle strength measurements of the SER using a HHD fixed with a belt would obtain relevance worthy of clinical application.departmental bulletin pape
Effectiveness of the Audience Response System as an Interactive Teaching Tool
本研究は,クリッカーと呼ばれる聴衆応答システムを通常授業及び試験対策授業に用い,その効果検証を実施した.昨年実施した第1報では,クリッカーを使用した授業のメリットやデメリット,そして使用するにあたって担当教員が配慮すべき事をあきらかにする目的で実施し,クリッカーを使用した授業が学生の興味や積極参加を促す可能性があるという示唆を得た.本研究は第1報に続き更に被験者を増やして信頼性を高めること,試験対策授業と通常授業でのクリッカー使用効果を比較すること,また妥当な問題数を明らかにすることで,クリッカーを有効に使うための授業設計や必要な配慮について検討する事を目的とした.クリッカーを使用した授業後のアンケート結果を,問題数の違いにより比較した結果,15問クラスは30問クラスに比べ「興味」「積極的参加」「理解度」「要点の印象化」「集中力の持続」のすべての項目で高い値を示した.また,通常授業と資格試験対策授業では,通常授業の学生は妥当な問題数の希望として21問以上を希望したものが多かったが,資格試験対策授業の学生は20問以下を希望する学生が多く,その授業の目的によっても求められる配分の違いがあることが示唆された.The purpose of this research was to verify the effectiveness of the audience response system called, “clicker” for the regular and test preparation classroom activities. The first report conducted last year, the trial was to identify advantages and disadvantages of the clicker use in the classes; in addition, the report was to reveal what the professors ought to accommodate when utilizing the clicker. The classes employed the clicker showed an indication of interests as well as positive participation toward learning activities. The classes employed the clicker were surveyed. The 15-question class showed higher value in all “interest,” “active participation,” “understanding,” “summarizing impression” and “concentration” categories than the 30-question class. Moreover, the students in regular classes often requested more than 21 questions as reasonable. However, many students in the test preparation classes requested less than 20 questions. Hence, the proper numbers of questions were depended upon the types of the classes. Further trial would be required to determine whether or not the clicker utilization provided significant learning benefits.departmental bulletin pape
Consideration of Developing Practical Yogo Ability in Nursing-based Yogo Teacher Training : Using Active Learning to Encourage Students to Think About the Meaning of “Yogo”
本研究は,看護系大学における養護教諭養成課程の「養護概論」の科目において,アクティブラーニングを活用した授業の成果を検討することを目的とした.2018年度前期「養護概論」を履修した17名を対象に,15回目に行った授業内容を分析した.評価は,ワークシートの記述,授業終了3か月後に実施した質問紙調査より行った.その結果,多くの学生は,養護教諭の行う養護とは,ただ単に疾病や傷病者への対応だけではなく,子どもの発育・発達の支援を促す教育活動を意味すると理解していた.さらに,授業終了3カ月後には,児童生徒の健康を守り気持ちに寄り添える養護教諭になりたいと回答するものが多くみられた.これらのことより,アクティブラーニングを用いた授業は,学生の養護教諭が行う養護の意味についての理解を深め,養護教諭を目指す意欲を高めることが示された.This study aims to consider the results of classes that utilize active learning in teaching the subject “Introduction to Yogo,” which is part of the Yogo teacher training course in Nursing universities. The study analyzed the contents of the 15th class taught to the 17 students that enrolled for“ Introduction to Yogo” for the first semester of 2018. Evaluation was based on worksheets and the questionnaire survey conducted 3 months after the course ended. As the result, many of the students understood that “Yogo” practiced by the Yogo teachers covered not only dealing with individuals with diseases or injuries, but educational activities that promotes growth and development of children. Furthermore, 3 months after the course ended, many answered that they wished to become a Yogo teacher that protects the students’ health and has the ability to empathize with their feelings. These findings showed that classes that utilize active learning depend the students’ understanding of the meaning of Yogo practiced by the teacher, and heighten their desire to become a Yogo teacher.departmental bulletin pape
A Relationship between SF-8 and Brief-BESTest in Elderly Female Community-dwellers ― An Investigation Requested by Nursing Care Prevention Industry ―
本研究の目的は,高齢女性のSF-8とBrief-BESTest との関連について検討することである.65歳以上の女性39名(74.6±5.9歳)を対象に,基本情報収集,SF-8,Brief-BESTest を実施した.基本属性,SF-8の各項目,PCS,MCS とBrief-BESTest の各セクション,合計点との関連性を検討するためSpearmanの順位相関係数を算出した.またBrief-BESTest の各セクションにおける天井効果を満点者の割合から検討した.SF-8のPCS は47.7±6.5点で,70-75歳の年代別標準値に比較して高値,MCS は49.9±6.2点で,年代別標準値に比較しやや低値であった.Brief-BESTest の合計点は18.9±3.4点,満点者は5.1%であり天井効果は認めなかった. SF-8とBrief-BESTest との検討では,SF-8の身体機能とBrief-BESTest の合計点(p<0.05,rho =0.36),MCS とBrief-BESTest の生体力学的制約(右)(p <0.01,rho = -0.41),生体力学的制約(左)(p <0.01,rho = -0.42)において相関を認めた.地域在住の高齢者においても転倒リスクのスクリーニング検査としてBrief-BESTest は有用であると考えられた.The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the SF-8 and Brief-BESTest. The participants were 39 elderly-female community-dwellers (age 74.6±5.9 years). The SF-8 and Brief-BESTest were measured by asking the participants to answer the questioner. The ceiling effect in each section of the Brief-BESTest from the percentage of fullers was examined. Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient was calculated to examine the relationship between each item of the SF-8 and each item of the PCS, MCS, Brief-BESTest and total points. The maximum score of Brief-BESTest was 5.1% and no ceiling effect was recognized. The total score was 18.9 ± 3.4 correlating with the physical functions of the SF-8 (p < 0.05,rho = 0.36). The PCS of the SF-8 was 47.7 ± 6.5, which was higher than the age - specific standard value of 70 to 75 years old. The MCS was 49.9 ± 6.2 slightly lower than the standard value, which was correlated with ability to stand on one leg for a certain period of time(Rt:p<0.01,rho = -0.41, Lt:p < 0.01,rho = -0.42).departmental bulletin pape
Tendencies about the Surgery Questions in the National Examination of Judo Therapy Practitioners
「背景」柔道整復師国家試験は現在まで26回実施されている.第26回合格率は58.4%であった.合格率は過去最低であり,養成施設において国家試験対策は失敗,また国家試験対策を見直す必要があると考えられる.国家試験出題傾向については数多く報告がなされているが,国家試験科目の1つである外科学概論については,まだ分類報告はなされていない.今回,我々は第1回~第26回の国家試験科目である外科学概論の出題傾向を分類した.
「目的」柔道整復師国家試験対策における教育効果を向上し,合格率を向上させるために,これまでの外科学概論における国家試験出題傾向を調査,分析した.
「方法」全国柔道整復学校協会監修の外科学概論の目次に従い詳細に分類した.
「結果・考察」一般問題では出題頻度の高い項目は脳神経外科疾患,損傷,ショックであり,必修問題では,ショック,損傷,炎症と外科的感染症であった.このことから,外科学概論を学習するにあたって脳神経外科疾患,ショックの範囲を確実に理解することで学習効率の向上が期待できると考えられた.“Background”:The national examination for judo therapy practitioners(NEJTP) was carried out 26 times in the past. The passing rate for the latest examination was 58.4% which was the lowest in the history of the NEJTP. The low passing result was considered as a failure in facilitating an adequate preparation by the Judo Therapy schools. In addition, re-examining the preparation for the NEJTP was necessary. Although many questions were well reported, the surgical science which was a part of the NEJTP content was not known as information. Therefore, this research was to classify the questions about the surgical science which were chosen from all 26 NEJTP.
“Objective”:The frequent questions on the surgical science were researched and analyzed in order to improve the educational effects and passing rate in the NEJTP.
“Method”:The questions were classified in detail according to the table of contents of the overview of the surgical science edited by the National Association of Judo Therapy.
“Results/Discussion”:In general questions, items with a high frequency of questions were neurosurgical diseases, injuries, shocks. In the required questions, shock, injury, inflammation and surgical infections were most frequently asked. Hence, the preparation could be effectively carried out
in the areas of neurosurgical diseases and shocks in studying the general theory of surgery.departmental bulletin pape
Benefits and problems of courses for independent learning of nursing techniques - With an introduction of both the pre-test and technology assessment sheet –
本研究の目的は, 学生の主体的な看護技術の修得を目指し,「看護技術Ⅱ」の授業に導入したプレテスト,及び技術評価表を使用した演習方法の効果や課題を明らかにすることである.2年次生114名の学生を対象に,最終講義時,「プレテストと技術評価表に対する看護技術の修得効果について」の無記名自記式質問紙調査を実施した.その結果,86%の学生がプレテストは技術の修得に役に立ったと回答し,プレテストが予習の動機づけになった,予習した内容の自己評価ができた,知識が身についたと評価した.また,技術評価表を使用した演習方法についても,84.2%の学生が技術の修得に役に立ったと回答し,自己の技術修得上の課題が明確になった,技術の手順や要点が理解できた,技術練習に意欲的に取り組めたと評価した.今後はプレテストの難易度や実施時期の検討,技術評価表の改善を行い,より効果的な教育実践を目指すことが求められる.This study aimed to clarify the benefits and problems of both the pre-test, which was introduced in a course, “Nursing Technique II,” and an independent learning method using a technology assessment sheet for nursing techniques. We performed an anonymous self-recorded questionnaire survey with 114 second-year students on the “effects of both the pre-test and technology assessment for learning nursing techniques.” As a result, 86% of the students answered that the pre-test was useful for learning nursing techniques. They were motivated by the pre-test to prepare for the next lesson and they could make a self-assessment about the details of their preparation and learn new things. In addition, 84.2% answered that the learning method with use of the technology assessment sheet was also useful for learning new techniques. Furthermore, their problems in acquiring techniques became clear, and they could understand the procedures and important points of the techniques and enthusiastically obtain the technical training.
In the future, more effective education can be achieved by examining the difficulty level, timing of the pre-test, and improving the technology assessment sheet.departmental bulletin pape
Phonetic realization of the sequence of “and” and a word beginning with a vowel: Comparison between a speech and a debate by Donald Trump
and の後に母音で始まる単語が続くとき,and の/d/ と後続母音をつなげて発音することが一般的であるとされ,学習者にはそのように指導してきた.しかしながら,and の/d/ が発音されずに,その前の/n/ が後ろの母音とつながる例が映画Hairspray においてかなり多く見られた.そこでand の/n/ と後続母音の連続がフォーマルな発話においても現れるのかを,トランプ氏の就任受諾演説と,トランプ氏とクリントン氏の討論会を比較して調査した.その結果,/d/ と母音の連続よりも,/d/ が脱落して/n/ と後続母音が連続する例のほうが演説,討論会の両方において多く見られ,フォーマルな発話である演説のほうではこの数がやや少なかった.しかし,この差はさほど大きくはなく,今回の調査からはフォーマルな発話においてもand の/d/ が脱落し,/n/ と後続母音が連続する発音が一般的であると考えられる.It is considered common to link the /d/ in “and” with a subsequent vowel, and this pronunciation has been taught to many English as a foreign language (EFL) learners. However, in the movie Hairspray, more sequences of “and” plus a word beginning with a vowel were pronounced as [n] plus a vowel than [nd] plus a vowel, evidencing a different
prevailing pronunciation in informal speech. Therefore, we aimed to examine how this sequence is pronounced in formal speech. Comparing Donald Trump’s nomination acceptance speech with the first Trump-Clinton presidential debate, we found that more than half of the target sequences were realized with the /d/ dropping and the /n/ being linked to the following vowel both in the speech and in the debate, and the difference between the two was not large. Therefore, we concluded that the sequence tends to be pronounced with the /d/ dropping and the /n/ linking to the following vowel even in formal speech.departmental bulletin pape
The recognition of menstruation and the influence on practical training in the medical university students
本研究の目的は,本学理学療法学科学生を対象にウィメンズヘルス分野の授業を実施し,授業による学生へのウィメンズヘルス分野に対する理解度,及び興味関心を調査することであった.
対象は,有効回答の得られた90名(男性61名,女性29名)とした.授業前後にて同内容の授業の内容に関する確認テストを実施し,理解度を求めた.授業終了後に選択的解答式質問票を配布した.調査項目は,①ウィメンズヘルスへの興味度②今後の授業で学びたいウィメンズヘルスの内容③月経に対するイメージ④ウィメンズヘルス分野の理学療法を実施したいか否か,について聴取した.結果,確認テストは7.8±2.3点から14.5±3.1点となった.授業により9割以上の学生がウィメンズヘルス分野への興味を示し,男女共に半数以上が「骨粗鬆症」について学びたいと解答した.卒前教育の一環としてウィメンズヘルス分野を学習させ,女性の健康に関する理解・興味を持たせ卒後教育へと繋げることは重要であり,学生がより深く理解するためにも授業の内容や方法の検討が必要であることが示唆された.The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not physical therapy students were interested in “Women's Health (WH)” and identify the effect on the students. Totally, 61 males and 29 females were participated in the study. The participants were given pre and post-tests to identify the level of understanding about WH. The tests were conducted by using an unsigned self-administered questionnaire. The contents of the questions were1) the level of Interest in WH,2) contents that the students want to learn in the future lecture,3) image about the menstruation,4) whether or not the students want to practice WH after graduation. Consequently, more than 90% of the students showed the interest in WH. In addition, more than 50 % of the students responded to learn about “osteoporosis” in depth. The test for confirming the understanding of the content of the lecture improved from 7.8±2.3 to 14.5±3.15 points. It would be essential that the WH needed to be in the physical therapy curriculum. A Case: Locking of the Left Middle Finger
手指のロッキングは中手指節関節(MP 関節)での発生が一般的である.しかし近位指節関節(PIP 関節)でのロッキングの報告は少ない.今回PIP 関節ロッキングに対し非観血的治療を施した1例を経験したので報告する.40歳代女性,重い荷物を持ち,手を放そうとしたら左中指が曲がったまま伸びなくなったため来院した.PIP 関節屈曲位で固定され,単純X 線写真では骨折や脱臼等は見受けられなかった.患部に徒手整復術を施し,PIP 関節の屈曲・伸展ともに可能になった.患者が動かすことに対して不安感を抱いていたため,脱着可能な掌側シーネで固定を施し,経過観察となった.今回我々はPIP 関節のロッキングに対して徒手整復術を行い良好な結果を得ることができた.PIP 関節ロッキングの症例報告は少なく原因もさまざまであるが,多くは何らかの外傷がきっかけでロッキングが起きている例が多い.本症例は非外傷性であり,X 線写真でも骨棘などは観察されなかったため,他の報告と比べても稀な症例であった.Locking of fingers was common in the MP joints. This case report was about a 40s female(ST)with a non-invasive treatment for a PIP joint. When ST tried to release ST’s hand after carrying a heavy piece of luggage, ST’s left middle finger stayed bent and ST was unable to straighten the finger. Consequently, ST visited a hospital to be examined. The PIP joint was stabilized at a flexed position in order to take radiographs. The radiographs revealed that there was no fracture or
dislocation. Therefore, a manual reduction therapy was performed on the affected area. Then, the PIP joint became allowing in flexion and extension movements.
Since ST was anxious about moving the finger actively, the PIP joint was stabilized with detachable palm side cine. After that, the condition was observed through the course of recovery period. The Judo therapy produced an acceptable result for the PIP joint locking. In general, the information about the PIP joint locking was little available and the causes were various. However, the locking was often caused by some types of trauma. The ST’s case was atraumatic and osteophyte was not observed in the radiographs.
