No full textThe purpose of the study: to analyse Lithuanian residents attitude towards virtual social networks, behaviour and intensity of involvement in networks.
Major investigated questions: respondents were asked how often do they use the internet and when did they started using it. Respondents were asked if they belong to any like-minded group, organization or community that mainly interacts via internet. After a list of different means of internet use was presented, respondents were asked how often they use internet for those purposes. Respondents who visits electronic social networks were asked which social network they visit mostly. Further, it was analysed in what kink of activity they engage when visiting that electronic social network.
Socio-demographic characteristics: gender, age, duration of education, education, employment status of the respondent and his / her husband / wife / permanent partner, profession (occupation), respondent's trade union membership, religion, participation in religious rites, political views, political and social activism, voting in the last Seimas elections, nationality, household size, respondent's average and total average monthly household income, marital status, place of residence, satisfaction with quality of life, change in living conditions, received social benefits, received financial support from abroad living relatives

No full textThe purpose of the study: to ascertain Lithuanian residents opinion about main principles of social policy, to analyse residents specific experiences and provisions related with social policy in Lithuania and to assess effectiveness of social policy.
Major investigated questions: respondents were asked which three problems are the most relevant for Lithuania. Respondents were asked who should care for a person in case of retirement, illness, loss of work, longterm physical or mental disability and child birth. Respondents were asked how safe they personally feel in same life situation. Respondents were asked to assess how many state objectives in assuring society's well-being in Lithuanian are achieved or unachieved based on the list of objectives in social policy of Lithuania gathered form various political documents. First, respondents were asked how they evaluate state efforts in seeking objectives in labour market and employment areas. Next question block to reveal how state is doing in achieving objectives in social equity and social security areas was presented. Next, situation in health care area was assessed. Respondents were asked how in their opinion state is doing in achieving its objectives in family policy and child-rearing areas. Last, question block about state achievements in education and natural and living environment was presented. Respondents were asked how would they generally evaluate current changes in Lithuania's society. Further it was questioned about income taxation of people with different salaries. It was questioned if preventive vaccination should be mandatory to children in Lithuania. Respondents were asked if they agree with construction of new nuclear power plant in Lithuania and if modernization of apartment buildings in Lithuania should be mandatory. At the end respondents were asked if number of universities in the country should be lower and if Lithuania should let in all immigrants without huge restrictions.

This dataset contains data from the main and supplementary questionnaires of the European Social Survey Wave 8 in Lithuania. The dataset was compiled by the survey's conducting organisation, Baltijos tyrimai UAB, and organised by the EVS National Coordinator in Lithuania and the Lithuanian HSM Data Archive (LiDA).
The European Social Survey (ESS) is a multi-country survey initiated by researchers, which has already been conducted in more than 30 different European countries. There are three main objectives of the survey:
To capture and interpret the changing attitudes and values of European societies and to observe how they interact with the changing European institutions;
To develop and improve advanced methods for conducting cross-cultural surveys in Europe and around the globe;
To develop a collection of European social indicators, including attitudinal indicators.
The eighth wave of the survey was carried out in 23 countries using highly rigorous survey methodologies. The survey was funded by the national authorities in each individual country conducting the fieldwork. It was carried out using purely random probability sampling principles, aiming for 70% reversibility and using strictly defined protocols for the translation of surveys. In a one-hour face-to-face interview, respondents answered regular questions from the main survey, which are repeated in each wave, as well as questions prepared by different research teams for each wave. Wave 8 includes two alternating blocks of questions on "Attitudes towards climate change, energy security and energy priorities" and "Attitudes towards social well-being". In the end, respondents answered a supplementary survey covering the human values block.
This dataset was created using version 2.0 of the integrated data file of countries participating in the ESS Round 8 (Lithuanian data) published in the ESS Data Archive on 2018-05-30. </p
