Institutional neurosis – Its causes and remedy
The term ‘Institutional Neurosis” was coined by Russell Barton in 1959. The adjective ‘institutional’ does not imply that institutions are the only cause of the disorder, but Signifies only that institutions are the places where it was first generally recognised, By no means all people in institutions develop it, and probably hermits, some housewives, and old age pensioners are affected with similar symptoms although living alone. The term ‘neurosis’ is used rather than the ‘psychosis’ since the syndrome itself does not interfere with the Patient’s ability to distinguish between reality and phantasy. ‘Neurosis’ is used in a general descriptive sense. It describes symptoms and signs not psychodynamic hypotheses.

Psycho-Sexual Hazards of I. U. C. D. Insertion
The rapid growth of population is a major factor which is strongly retarding India's development as a self-sufficient nation. Today, from far East to West Asia, bold efforts are being made by the countries to tackle the problem in an effective manner, Despite the initial hesitation of some orthodox sections to give whole hearted support, there is a general upsurge for social change in our country and the powerful support of lower class intelligentsia is one of the most significant features that has put the orthodox theologia on the defensive. Realising this, the Government of India has undertaken crash programmes in family planning and has given national shape to this movement. Intrauterine contraceptive device being a comparatively recent innovation, is an extremely valuable addition to the other means available for family planning in India. Considering all its advantages being cheap, reversible and easy to use, it seems to meet the requirements of an ideal contraceptive for Indian masses. Recent researches in the field and public enthusiasm have also shown that I, U, C, D. is a more acceptable method of family planning.

Psychiatric rehabilitation and the social worker
oai:ojs2.pswjournal.org:article/1Rehabilitation has been defined as the restoration of the handicapped to the optimum level of functioning in the emotional, social and occupational spheres that the individual rehabilitee is capable of. The crux of the rehabilitation programmes is individualisation of the programme to suit the special needs taking into account the resources of the individual patient. No two patients of chronic schizophrenia have the same personality or the same home background or the same degree or type of residual defect or the same degree of motivation for resocialisation or occupational rehabilitation.
The psychiatric social worker has a crucial role to play at every stage of rehabilitation and in the different components constituting the total rehabilitative effort
