This study investigates the effect of the use of teachers’ Lecture models combined with cooperative learning methods to improve students’ problem-solving skills in physics compare with the control group who were not exposed to the lecture model combined with cooperative learning methods from effect size value. The research method was a quasi-experimental research. The sample consisted of 33 students of 10th grade in middle schools (senior high school), SMAN 1 Sungai Penuh, Jambi Province where they ware learn at work and energy concept. Students' achievements, as well as their problem-solving skills of work and energy concept were assessed by pretest-posttest with an essay test. The results showed that the experimental group’s learning process has a high effect size value to problem-solving skills more than control group learning process. That shows the lecture model combined with cooperative learning method more effective than lecture model

ICT has transformed the conventional learning system into a modern learning system, demanding innovation in the delivery of learning. So that this study has the aim of developing, knowing the feasibility of online web-based learning and assessment tool in physics, as well as knowing students' learning results in the ICT media. This study research & development (R&D) method using Borg & Gall model. Which refers to the potential problem through data collection, product design, design validation, revision of product design, product testing, revision of usage. The feasibility testing of media and material was carried out by two material expert validators and two media expert validators with a small group trial conducted on students consisting of 13 respondents and large group trial conducted on students consisting of 40 respondents. We use online media for web-based learning and assessment tool in vocational high school for Physics subject, and the results of the study show that this application generates individual assignments, marks student responses, supplies students with the rapid feedback, and records student activities. The student activity log provides insight into student learning habits. Its a reference for assessment. This application meets the requirements as a learning media. The results of the validation by an expert material on online web-based learning and assessment tool gets a percentage of an average score of 82%, and the material gets a percentage of 81.33% criteria very feasible

The results of study Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2011 at the secondary school level showed that the achievement of learning outcomes of Indonesian students in the fields of mathematics and science had not shown satisfactory results. One way to implement effective and enjoyable learning can be supported by teaching materials used in learning. Teaching materials are one of the supporting factors for student learning success. This study aims to produce products and apply teaching materials based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to determine the profile of the cognitive process of understanding the concepts of vocational students. The method used in this study is research and development. Characteristics of STEM-based teaching materials that contain material about vibrations and waves associated with STEM aspects and equipped with problems and practical procedures. The results of the analysis of teaching materials can be categorized as feasible, with a percentage of 78.46%. The results of the analysis of student responses after the application of the teaching materials were obtained with a percentage of 83.74% so that it can be concluded that the teaching material included in the category is very practical to use. The results of the cognitive profile analysis of students' understanding of concepts obtained an interpretation percentage of 76.06%; exemplifying 84.44%; inference 67.78%; comparing 62.59%; explain 59.89%

Textbooks Equipped with Augmented Reality Technology for Physics Topic in High-School

    Get PDF
This article aims to publish research results on the development of physics textbooks equipped with 3D media based on Augmented Reality technology. AR Technology can provide solutions when students face difficulties illustrating physics material in physics learning textbooks. This research uses the research & development method of the Dick & Carey model. The resulting book displays physics material in multi representations with verbal forms, pictures, tables, graphs, mathematical equations, and 3D media. Augmented Reality technology-based multi representation is displayed with a marker that is scanned through a smartphone application with an Android system. The scanning process requires an average of two seconds from each marker. The time of this scan shows that the media produced is more effective and efficient when compared with the activities of searching and downloading animations or videos by students. The feasibility of the book was tested with a Likert scale questionnaire instrument. For material, the worthiness was 71.45% while 93.3% for the media. The trial results are limited to five materials giving N-Gain values ranging from 0.3 to 0.47. Based on these results it can be concluded that the book model enriched with 3D media with AR technology is already feasible as a textbook in learning physics

The Understanding of Pre-Service Physics Teachers on Electric Circuit Concept

    Get PDF
The purpose of this research was to find out the descriptive of pre-service physics teachers understanding of the concept of electrical circuits, especially in the characteristic of series circuits and parallel circuits. The method used in this research was a descriptive method. The sample of this research was the fourth-grade students who took Basic Electronics course. The primary data of this research collected from the students’ test consisted of 12 multiple choices. Data analysis concluded that the student’s understanding of the concept of the electric circuit was low, with an average percentage of total indicators of 84.4%

The Description of Student Understanding about Elasticity Concept

Different from the classical mechanic topic, student’s understanding related to matter elasticity has got less attention in research. This study aimed to expose student’s understanding related to conceptual problems in matter elasticity with descriptive quantitative research method. Subject consisted of 48 students of engineering with the computer and network competence in 2016/2017 academic year. The data was gathered using multiple choices test. The study concluded that student’s understanding related to elastic and plastic matter was good, but most students did not well understand about Hooke laws, the relationship in elasticity formula, and composition elastic matter. The study suggested further research to explore the causes of student’s difficulties

The Development of Web-based Instructional Media for Teaching Wave Physics on Android Mobile

    Get PDF
This study aims to develop an Android app to support learning activities consisting of mobile applications and web server applications. Mobile applications have two applications: teacher apps and student applications, while web server applications are used by teachers and administrators. Mobile apps run on Android smartphones, while web server applications are in Chrome web browsers. In mobile applications, students can view material with pictures and videos, do online tests, perform tasks, view simulations, view announcements in the form of updates made by teachers, and see recap test scores, assignments, exams, and final score in a chapter. In a mobile application, the teacher can see how many times students access the material, view the student's time notice in performing tests and tasks, view the test scores, duties, exams and the final grade of each student who is registered on the web server. Administrator applications on the web server focus more on managing the data that will changes. This application can run on Android operating system Jelly Bean and above. The development used refers to the ADDIE model with the following stages: 1) Analysis, 2) Design (design / design), 3) Development (development), and 4) Evaluation (evaluation / feedback). The developed media has been validated by subject experts, media experts and high school physics teachers with average percentage of all aspects of subject experts is 85.50%, media experts 85.20% and physics teachers 90%, based on these results show that mobile learning android platform based on web service proper to use as a media of physics learning
