    Get PDF
This study aimed to establish the relationship between environmental awareness and eco-conscious consumer behaviour of Gen Z consumers. A descriptive design was employed in the study via a Google survey to collect information of 102 Generation Z consumers. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods were applied to identify the factors that might influence the eco conscious buying behaviour of the consumers to the highest extent. It was found that an eco‑conscious buying behaviour was highly correlated with environmental impact, where moderate correlation was shown to imply that environmental factors explained a significant proportion of the variance in the purchase intentions. Along with that, cost also proved to be a significant deterrent to purchase of eco-friendly products, highlighting its strong impact on the eco conscious buying behaviour. Eco-friendly products awareness also emerged as a determinant factor that made participants willing to buy such products. Gen Z’s purchasing behaviour is primarily driven by environmental concerns, cost considerations, and eco product awareness

Barriers to Central Bank Independence in Afghanistan: Policymakers\u27 Perspectives

    Get PDF
This qualitative investigation critically examined the multifaceted barriers undermining central bank independence in Afghanistan through comprehensive semi-structured interviews with fifteen pivotal policymakers, banking executives, and academic experts. Employing rigorous thematic analysis, six interrelated dimensions emerged: political and executive interference, deficient legal and institutional frameworks, financial and operational constraints, entrenched cultural and institutional challenges, legitimacy and transparency deficits, and the pervasive influence of external actors. The findings elucidate how persistent political encroachments, ambiguous statutory mandates, fiscal dependency on the government, scarcity of specialized human capital, insufficient societal comprehension, and conditionality’s imposed by international financial institutions collectively compromise the operational autonomy and policy efficacy of Afghanistan’s central bank. This study situates these findings within the broader corpus of central banking literature in developing economies, highlighting the fragility and largely symbolic nature of institutional independence under prevailing contextual complexities. The research underscores the imperative for comprehensive legal reforms, financial autonomy, institutional capacity building, cultural transformation, and strategic engagement with international bodies to actualize a resilient and credible monetary authority. These insights offer substantial theoretical and policy implications for advancing monetary governance and economic stabilization in fragile state contexts

    Get PDF
Foreign direct investment has been considered as one of the most important factors that influence the progress of economic growth and development, especially in the case of developing and emerging economies like south Asian countries. There are certain factors that influence the inflows of foreign capital to the host nations such as human capital, economic stability, infrastructure development and market size. Bilateral investment treaties is one among such factors which have found previously to have significant impact on the inward flows of foreign capital in many region across the world. This study examined the impact of bilateral investment treaties on foreign direct investment in the context of south Asian countries by using the data collected over the period of 23 years (1998-2020). The study has collected data for all the variables under the analysis of the study for the given time period. The Hussmann test validates the use of fixed effect model for the analysis of the data. The study found that bilateral investment treaties signed and enforced have a significantly positive relationship with foreign direct investment while BIT singed has negative relationship with FDI in the context of south Asian countries. The findings of the study also suggest that economic development, macro-economic stability, market size, trade openness, and human capital have significantly effects foreign direct investment inflows to these countries

The Influence of Traditional Management Practices on Employee Satisfaction, Turnover Intention, and Perceived Organizational Profitability

    Get PDF
This study explores the influence of traditional management practices on employee satisfaction, turnover intention, and perceived organizational profitability. While modern management approaches often emphasize flexibility and innovation, many organizations, particularly in developing contexts, continue to rely on classical principles such as clear hierarchies, standardized procedures, and centralized decision-making. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from 230 employees across various sectors in Kabul, Afghanistan. The findings reveal that traditional management practices have a strong positive effect on employee satisfaction and perceived profitability, and a significant negative effect on turnover intention. Regression results showed that these practices explained 71% of the variation in employee satisfaction, 53% in perceived profitability, and 61% in turnover intention. These results suggest that structured management systems still offer practical value, especially in work environments that benefit from predictability and clear direction. The study provides empirical support for the continued relevance of traditional management in modern organizational settings and encourages a balanced approach that blends classical structure with evolving workplace needs

This study examines the impact of capacity-building programs on employee performance in private universities within Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. Against the backdrop of a developing higher education sector facing resource constraints and institutional challenges, the research investigates how targeted training initiatives influence faculty and administrative staff competencies, job satisfaction, and overall institutional effectiveness. Utilizing a quantitative research design, the study collected data from 226 employees across seven private universities through a validated Likert-scale questionnaire, achieving a 91.1% response rate. Findings reveal a strong positive correlation between capacity-building participation and enhanced employee performance, with 93.3% of respondents reporting improved job-related skills and 92.5% observing measurable departmental performance gains. The study identifies knowledge-sharing culture (93.8% agreement) and skill application support (89.8% agreement) as critical success factors, while noting gaps in career pathway alignment (only 38.9% strongly agreeing on role suitability post-training). These results substantiate human capital theory while highlighting contextual implementation challenges unique to Afghanistan\u27s higher education environment. The research contributes to academic discourse by providing empirical evidence from an understudied conflict-affected region, demonstrating how strategic workforce development can mitigate institutional capacity gaps. Practical implications suggest the need for more structured post-training support systems and clearer career progression frameworks. Methodologically, the study adapts and validates a cross-cultural research instrument for fragile educational contexts. Limitations include geographical specificity and reliance on self-reported data, suggesting directions for future longitudinal and comparative studies

Organizational Conflict Revisited: A Conceptual Review through the Selected Chapters of M. Afzalur Rahim’s Managing Conflict in Organizations

    Get PDF
Organizational conflict is both inevitable and multifaceted, and have the potential for constructive or deleterious outcomes. This article provides a conceptual review of organizational conflict, drawing primarily on Managing Conflict in Organizations (3rd ed., 2001) by M. Afzalur Rahim, a foundational and seminal work in the field of conflict management. We synthesize key frameworks, typologies, and strategies from selected chapters (1–2, 4–9) of Rahim’s work to illuminate how conflict operates at intrapersonal, interpersonal, intragroup, and intergroup levels. We clarify the dual nature of conflict – how moderate, task-oriented conflict can spur creativity and performance, whereas unmanaged affective conflict impedes effectiveness. We review prominent conflict management frameworks, from classic two-dimensional style models to comprehensive five-style taxonomies, and examine strategies for conflict resolution and management, including the importance of organizational learning and structural interventions. Through an analytical synthesis, we demonstrate that effective conflict management transcends mere reduction of discord; it involves leveraging conflict for learning and innovation while mitigating its dysfunctional aspects. Contemporary relevance is discussed, affirming that the frameworks and strategies reviewed remain vital in today’s organizations. The partial scope of this review (limited to select chapters of Rahim’s book) is acknowledged as a constraint, suggesting avenues for further exploration. This conceptual review shows that with appropriate frameworks and proactive strategies, conflict can be transformed from a source of organizational disruption into a driver of growth and effectiveness.
