Territoriality versus kinship in early Europe. The Romanian case and the theses of Henri H. Stahl
The paper proposes a critical approach of Henri H. Stahl's main theses about the evolution of Romanian rural communities. The author considers Stahl's explanation within the broader debate about early property forms in Europe, focusing mainly on the particularities of ownership and social organization in Balkans
Capitalul social informal şi formal; modalităţi şi procese de întrepătrundere: Formal and informal social capital - interrelationship modalities and processes
Research in connection with social capital is very much connected with forms and specific indices (analyses are concerned or with the social capital understood as a form of participation and trust in institutions and organizations; or-on the contrary, analyses accentuate the role of non-institutional networks). In our research, we tried to investigate the conjunction between these two forms of social capital, by studying the dynamics of flux between them. The pilot research of the paper starts from the intuitive hypothesis that in our country - in the context of erosion of trust in public institutions, especially political institutions, doubled by the individualization, the informal social capital has turned inside, towards the enlarged family, respectively first grade relatives. In general terms, the hypothesis of turning inside can constitute both a vicious (the number of contacts diminishes and so does the network) and a virtuous (the intensity of relatives and trust are more accentuated) event. Preliminary research has confirmed both the hypothesis of vicious and virtuous turning. In the final part we employ an analytical view concerning the role of intergenerational exchanges in the enlarged family, especially from Transylvanian, and through some schematic figures we illustrate the findings. Finally, based on our quantitative and qualitative data, we formulated some conclusions and openings
Aspecte particulare ale îmbătrânirii populaţiei din România post-comunistă – consecinţe socio-economice: Peculiar Aspects of Population Ageing in Post-Communist Romania - Socio-Economic Consequences
This paper has an interdisciplinary character and highlights certain aspects of the demographic and economic evolution in the post-communist Romania, with their peculiarities. Population ageing, foreseen by specialists, is highlighted here also on country regions, and at national level, it is debated in relation with development economic indicators. In a comparative approach at European level, we show that the share of old people, as well as the dependency rate of old people, have, for the moment, lower values in Romania, realities that do not allow a break, a lack of initiative for specific policies. The reason, which we underline, is that in our country, in comparison with the western countries which became rich before ageing, the rhythm of demographic ageing has outrun the rhythm of economic development. Moreover, the data available for the last 18 years have allowed us to show the economic and social consequences of this ageing on several major directions such as: economic dependency, impact on the employment of work resources, impact on the economic growth and on the public expenditure. The worrying evolutions in these social-economic segments are the result of the calculated indicators and their correlations, and these are: the economic dependency rates; the employment rate of the work resources; the correlations between the GDP/capita evolution and the share of the ageing population out of the total of population, between GDP/capita and the economic dependency rate of the ageing people, between the share of the savings in GDP and the share of the ageing people out of the total of population; the cost of the demographic ageing. In conclusion, acknowledging these realities, only to the extent to which the country will involve the ageing population in the process of goods and services creation, the economic development is possible. Without such a strategy, the macroeconomics disequilibrium will deepen and the demographic ageing will be a permanent obstacle to the growth of the standard of living

Agresivitatea în mediul penitenciar ca efect al deculturaţiei: Agresivity in the penitentiary as effect of deculturation
This study highlights the negative effects that imprisonment has on prisoners, required to bear the rigors and restrictions of the institution and to try to adapt to an environment they consider as hostile and unwelcoming. These negative effects include "learning" aggressiveness in the process of interaction and informal communication between detainees, which, in order to survive the imprisonment, resort to aggressive forms of the most serious violence, both against other prison mates and against prison staff. Learning and adopting aggressive behavior in prison environment significantly reduces the chances for the prisoner to reintegrate into normal society after imprisonment
