Cum ne guvernăm singuri: analiza instituțiilor implicate în procesul de construcție a subiecților neoliberali în România: How We Govern Ourselves: Analyzing the Institutions Involved in the Construction of Neoliberal Subjects in Romania
In this article I will present who the main actors involved in the process of construction of neoliberal subjects in Romania are. The process of restructuring the economic model of Romania, during the 90s, has brought about many social changes, such as the flexibility of labour relationships, the growth of the service sector or the commodification of education and health. Concomitantly with the global transformations – globalization and automation – by the end of 2000s, it determined the emergence of a new type of activity in the socio-economic environment that is personal development. This analysis aims to present a practical application of the concept of governmentality developed by Michel Foucault, drawing from the prerequisite that the practice of personal development becomes a tool for the construction of subjects, the direction of the construction being given by the type of social and economic context of the study period, which in the article I call neoliberalism. Thus, I will describe how this practice has come to be embraced by many neoliberal actors involved in citizens' forming process – education, the media, the church and the non-governmental sector. The article is the result of an ethnographic approach, in which I used interviews, discourse analysis and content analysis, conducted between 2011 and 2016, mostly in Bucharest

Tradiție și actualitate în sociologia academică ieșeană
The text aims at emphasizing the tradition and evolution of the academic sociology of Iaşi, tracking its origins. Thus, we tried to focus upon the emblematic personalities who contributed to the development of sociology in Iaşi (Constantin Dimitrescu-Iași, Constantin Leonardescu, Dimitrie Gusti, Petre Andrei, Vasile Miftode), dwelling on the ideas and themes outlined or developed by them at the Iaşi school of sociology. Our approach went even further, purporting to emphasize the professional competences and publications of the new generation of sociological thinkers in Iaşi, especially as authors of volumes. This approach, which is part of a history of sociology in Iaşi, shows that sociology at „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University has had an outstanding evolution and a unique tradition

Atitudinea și cunoștințele elevilor din cinci școli din Sibiu față de efectele pe termen scurt ale consumului de substanțe: Attitudes and Knowledge of Students from five Schools in Sibiu to the Short-term Effects of Substance Use
Romania ranks 5th in the top of countries with excessive alcohol consumption. Young people are a vulnerable group. 253 young people (151 girls and 102 boys) with an average age of 16.35 years from 5 schools in Sibiu answered a 30-items questionnaire. The results demonstrated the following: students consider that drinking as a problem among them, 95% think that they can easily get alcohol anywhere, parents are permissive to the alcohol consumption by minors (74% said they know parents who allow minors to drink alcohol). Young people begin to consume alcohol at the age of 14. In this group of adolescents, beer is the most consumed drink followed by wine and vodka. The main reasons for consumption are the influence of friends, personal problems, family issues, curiosity or getting a good state. There is misconception around marijuana use. Students have knowledge of the effects of alcohol intoxication, and most have said the first solution is to communicate with parents. Punishments are still present in Romanian culture and the specialized approach is not seen as a prime solution. However, the study confirms the lack of specialized community services to assist young drug users and the inadequacy of anti-alcohol programs in the school. Finally, students who are abstinent responded that also their friends do not drink alcohol. The results may be useful to carry out further in-depth studies and develop specialist interventions to prevent alcohol and drug use among young people
Convieţuire interetnică, identificare etno-religioasă şi segregare şcolară în Topliţa. Note de cercetare: Inter-ethnic Coexistence, Ethno-religious Identification and School Segregation in Topliţa. Research Notes
The aim of this report is to outline the community coherence issues of Toplita, Harghita county, having as starting points the ethnic and religious issues found. It is based on a qualitative and exploratory field research, conducted in August-September 2013. Regarding the methodological approach, the research is based on the neo-interpretative approach. During the study, the emphasis is focused upon identifying the springs of the community’s religious identity and the way they are customized according to the ethnic factor. The geographical location and historical past of Toplita underlines a complex identity, of ethnic and religious confluence. The study attempts to decipher the manner in which the social memory managed to keep (or not) the traditional elements connected to the ethnic-religious identification, the components of inter-ethnic representations, and communitary self-identification of this kind, the role of religious institutions in maintaining social harmony or in terms of potential conflict that the latest paradigms of sociology of religions assigns to religious phenomena. Another direction of research is given by the social and symbolic involvement of various religious institutions and by the manner in which they implement the social change through various assistance programs they develop, which can reveal the relevance of religious identity in the ethnic context of Toplita

Evoluția sistemului de protecție a copilului în România în ultimii 30 de ani: Development of the child protection system in Romania for the past 30 years
This study analyzes developments in the child protection system in Romania for the past 30 years. Based on the typologies created at international level, it identifies three key phases of development, mainly regarding deinstitutionalization process, started in 1997. The first phase of deinstitutionalization, up to 2001, caused by limited funds and the need to get quick results, the efforts concerning development of alternative type of care have mainly targeted a cost-efficient approach like placement in the extended family, foster care and adoption. Family type of services registered an extremely rapid and impressive development. Yet, monitoring capacity has not been adequately developed alongside this progressive development. The second phase of reforms (2002-2007) can be considered as an accelerated phase of deinstitutionalization. It has been very well supported by public awareness campaigns, with a consistent funding, that substantially supported the process. In 2004, a new legislative framework has been adopted, making a transition from a system centered around protecting children in difficult situation towards a system envisaging promotion and fullfiiling rights of all children. After 2007, deinstitutionalization process continued to be developed, but at a much slower pace, while only in 2014 a new more accelerated process of deinstitutionalization has been claimed and started since 2016. Based on the key characteristics of the system presented in evolution, the paper concludes with a series of development needs in the field of child protection system in Romania
