Investigation of Mental Fatigue in Individuals With Tinnitus
Objective: Mental fatigue is a common but understudied symptom in individuals with tinnitus. This study aimed to examine the relationship between tinnitus-related distress, anxiety symptoms, and mental fatigue. Methods: A total of 119 participants (52 with tinnitus, 67 healthy controls) were included. All participants completed the Mental Fatigue Scale (MFS) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7). The tinnitus group also completed the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), Visual Analog Scales (VAS), and psychoacoustic assessments (pitch matching, loudness level, minimum masking level). Group comparisons and correlation analyses were conducted. Results: MFS scores were significantly higher in the tinnitus group than in controls (11.74 +/- 5.51 vs. 8.13 +/- 4.34, p = 0.015, d = 0.45). A moderate positive correlation was found between mental fatigue and anxiety symptoms (r = 0.44, p = 0.001). Within the tinnitus group, mental fatigue was weakly associated with THI and VAS attention deficit scores (r = 0.31, p = 0.022 and r = 0.30, p = 0.033, respectively), though these did not survive correction for multiple comparisons, nor with tinnitus loudness, masking levels, sleep disturbance, or hearing loss. Conclusion: Mental fatigue in tinnitus appears more closely related to psychological and attentional factors than to auditory variables. Routine screening for fatigue and cognitive complaints may support more comprehensive tinnitus management and improve patient outcomes

In this study, it was aimed to determine the modes of representation in a 4th grade primary school science textbook and to analyze them in terms of various criteria. In this study, in which document analysis was used, the 4th grade science textbook was used as source of data. As a result of the content analysis of the modes of representation in the science textbook, it was determined that there were mostly photographs among the mode types, the modes used were mostly clearly expressed, the relationship between the mode and the text was sufficient, but the links that lead students to the mode were weak, and the caption features of the modes were mostly appropriate. The book also contained inaccurate, incomplete and ambiguous modes that may cause students to mislearn the content. In line with these results, it is suggested that different types of modes should be used in science textbooks in line with the content of all units. Improving the quality of existing modes in science textbooks is also among the recommendations of the stud
Development of molnupiravir and peramivir loaded liposome formulations for combined antiviral therapy
The pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has led scientists to intensify research on antiviral drugs and vaccines. As a result of these studies, it was observed that molnupiravir (MLP) and peramivir (PRV) could be used against pandemic. MLP affects SARS-CoV-2 replication, but it necessitates high doses, which can cause adverse effects in patients. PRV is a neuraminidase inhibitor, but the bioavailability of the drug after oral administration is very low. In this study, MLP-, PRV-loaded and combined liposome (COMB-Lipo) formulations were prepared via the thin film hydration method. Phospholipon 90 G-based formulations exhibited the most favorable characteristics, with a particle size of 111-145 nm, a polydispersity index (PDI) of less than 0.4, and a zeta potential (ZP) of 6-12 mV). Cell culture studies demonstrated that developed stable formulations are nontoxic to L929 and Vero E6 cells. Antiviral activity assessments against SARS-CoV-2 suggested the effectiveness of liposomes in inhibiting viral activity. These findings demonstrate that a possible synergistic effect of the newly developed sustained-release COMB-Lipo formulation is suggested with the complementary antiviral mechanisms of the combined agents. As a result, the therapeutic potential of co-delivery of anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs for pulmonary application is considered a promising approach for long-acting treatment of COVID-19
Local Authority Experiences in Disaster Response: A Case Study of Mukhtars in Hatay, Türkiye after the February 6, 2023 Earthquakes
This study examines the experiences of mukhtars in Hatay, T & uuml;rkiye, following the February 6 earthquakes. Framed by the "institutional voids" concept, this qualitative study finds that mukhtars became critical first responders but were systemically overburdened by the collapse of formal governance. Validated through analytical triangulation, the findings detail severe challenges in communication, resource management, and damage assessments. The study concludes that enhancing community resilience requires moving beyond theoretical recognition to the formal integration of hyper-local actors, such as mukhtars, into centralized disaster governance, supported by clear legal and institutional frameworks

Although it is considered important to teach the concept of rights at an early age, it is difficult to comprehend abstract concepts during this period. One of the effective tools for teaching abstract concepts to children is illustrated children's books. The existing literature in Turkey was found to include a limited number of studies examining children's rights in illustrated children's books and it was determined that these studies dated from previous years. In this context, it is considered important to investigate how children's rights are included in changing conditions and current books in terms of providing up-to-date information and content. The research was designed using qualitative method. The books consist of 100 illustrated children's books selected through the criterion sampling method. The data were collected through document analysis and analysed using content analysis. As a result, while children's developmental rights are included, there is limited content on how these rights should be supported. In the context of vital rights, it can be said that the emphasis on equality and living with the family in peace is parallel to the child's development. In addition, content on the right to protection was presented the least in the illustrated children's books

Optimal Detection for a Prospect Theoretic Variant of the Neyman-Pearson Problem
A prospect theoretic variant of the Neyman-Pearson (NP) detection problem is proposed for a behavioral (human) decision maker, who perceives distorted versions of the detection and false alarm probabilities. The perceived probabilities are obtained as strictly monotonic transformations of the true probabilities via a probability weighting function employed in prospect theory. It is assumed that the the decision maker can employ time-sharing among a number of detectors in order to maximize the average perceived detection probability subject to a constraint on the average perceived false alarm probability. It is shown that time-sharing between at most two distinct NP decision rules is optimal. A sufficient condition for improvability of the detection performance via time-sharing is presented based on the convexity properties of the transformed version of the receiver operating characteristic curve corresponding to the likelihood ratio detector. Numerical examples are provided to corroborate the theoretical results
Effects of Turkish fathers' gender role attitudes, marital adjustment, and maternal attachment on prenatal paternal attachment in third trimester
The paternal attachment that fathers establish with their infants during pregnancy forms the basis of postnatal relationships and strongly affects the dynamics within the family. The present study was conducted to determine the effects of fathers' gender role attitudes, marital adjustment, and maternal attachment on prenatal paternal attachment in the third trimester in Turkiye. This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted between January and November 2023 and included 255 fathers whose partner was between 28 and 40 weeks old and who had a healthy pregnancy and their partners in the obstetric outpatient clinic of one of the most advanced university hospitals. The relevant data for the study were collected via the "Descriptive Characteristics Form," "Gender Role Attitudes Scale," "Marital Adjustment Scale," "Prenatal Attachment Inventory," and "Paternal Antenatal Attachment Scale." The descriptive characteristics data form was completed by the fathers, the gender role attitudes scale, the marital adjustment scale, and the prenatal attachment scale were completed by the fathers, and the prenatal attachment inventory was completed by their partners. Descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, the Bonferroni correction, post hoc tests, and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data. Among the descriptive characteristics evaluated, paternal age (p = .075) and perceived economic status (p = .216) were not revealed to have any effect on prenatal paternal attachment. Gender role attitudes (p = .238) and maternal attachment (p = .178) also had no effect on paternal attachment. Marital adjustment affected prenatal paternal attachment (p = .000). Since marital adjustment was found to be effective on paternal attachment in this study, it is recommended that this variable be integrated into prenatal care practices
