RAAV - Results of the PT-STA accessibility analysis

Dataset description

As part of the project "RAAV - Rural Accessibility and Automated Vehicles" between the TU Vienna (Austria) and the EURAC institute (Bolzano, Italy), this file serves to summarise the results of a test of the PT-STA method in a comprehensible manner and to make them publicly available.

Context and methodology

An adaption of a classical STA accessibility analysis was formulated and the new method tested on a sample of over 100 individuals in Mühlwald, South Tyrol and over 100 individuals in Sooß, Lower Austria. The test is based on travel diaries, which have been attained in cooperation with and by interviewing said individuals.

To be as transparent as possible the data is provided in the Microsoft Excel format with all cell references. By doing this, we ensure that the data can also be used and adapted for other research. The travel diaries on which this research is based on can be accessed here: https://researchdata.tuwien.ac.at/records/hq7b7-xsa12

Technical details

The dataset contains one Microsoft Excel file containing multiple data sheets. All data from both regions, Mühlwald and Sooß were cumulated. In order to ensure data protection and anonymisation all names, addresses and coordinates of interviewed people, origins and destinations have been deleted from the dataset.

Other than Microsoft Excel, there is no additional software needed to investigate the data. The first datasheet gives an overview of abbreviations and data stored in each data sheet.

Legal CaPER Benchmark

The Legal Case Passage Extraction and Retrieval benchmark is an information retrieval benchmark collection for court case passage retrieval. Specifically, it is a collection for evaluating Cited Case Passage Retrieval (CCPR) and contains case passages from the Austrian building regulations domain (Source: RIS). The following files are included in the dataset:

full_collection.tsv

A tab separated file containing the passage texts of court cases from the building regulations domain. Column 1 contains the ID of the passage, Column 2 contains the passage text and Column 3 contains the case ID (Geschäftszahl) of the origin case of the passage.

queries.tsv

A tab separated file containing the queries / topics for which relevance assessments exist in this collection. Column 1 contains the ID of the query, Column 2 contains the query passage text and Column 3 contains the case ID (Geschäftszahl) of the cited case. For the task of CCPR, it is intended that results are additionally filtered based on exact matches of the case ID. For each query, only relevance assessments exist for passages that match the case ID of column 3.

qrel.json

Contains relevance assessments for each query. In this dictionary, a passage from the full collection is relevant for a query if qrel[<query ID>][<passage ID>] == 1. If a passage ID is not in qrel[<query ID>], it is not relevant. Relevance assessments only exist for full collection passages that match the case ID of the query.

qrel.json.txt

A conversion of the qrel.json file to be compatible with trec eval.

SFG Spectroscopy of Pd/GR Model Catalysts

The Lise Meitner project (M 2787-N) examined CO adsorption on metal surfaces by combining laser spectroscopy with surface science methods. As a first major result, CO adsorbed on smooth/perfect Ir(111) was found to be tilted at high coverage but upright at low coverage, analyzed by combined sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. However, on rough/defective surfaces, the CO tilt angle had only weak coverage-dependence and CO preferred being upright. CO can adopt three different overlayer structures characterized by low energy electron spectroscopy (LEED): and diffuse at low exposure, and at high exposure/pressure. The former two overlayer structures have been often reported, while the latter one has been rarely observed.

Further studies, also including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and LEED indicated that CO dissociation does not occur at low pressure/high temperature or high pressure/low temperature. However, after heatup (room temperature to ~600 K) and cooldown (~600 K to room temperature) in a background of high pressure CO, the obtained irreversible SFG spectra implied that CO dissociated on both the smooth and defective Ir(111), yielding carbon deposits. SFG spectra upon carbon oxidation and XPS spectra of Ir(111) after annealing in CO at ~600 K indirectly and directly confirmed the formation of surface carbon species, respectively. DFT calculations suggested that at high CO partial pressure and thus high CO surface coverage, adsorbed surface CO can react with gas phase CO at increasing temperature via disproportionation (Boudouard reaction 2CO ↔ CO2 + C), forming CO2 and leaving a C atom behind on the Ir surface.

A graphene (GR) monolayer was successfully grown on Ir(111) by thermal decomposition of ethylene. Characterization by LEED evidenced a complete continuous GR-layer because no CO intercalation was observed in SFG spectra at several mbar pressure, further confirmed by LEED patterns of GR/Ir(111). After 10s Argon ion sputtering, the LEED patterns of GR became fuzzy, indicating damage. However, upon exposing several mbar CO on sputtered GR/Ir(111), no CO signal was observed in SFG. This demonstrates that even a damaged structure of graphene fully covers the Ir surface, preventing CO adsorption. The GR/Ir(111) surface is currently used as a substrate for the growth of Pd nanoparticles.
