データサイエンス教育のための学習環境構築

概要 
データサイエンスでは、コンピュータ、ネットワーク、その上位に当たるメディア、サービス
それぞれにより生み出されるデータに対する生成・伝送・格納・検索・統合・分析・可視化とい
った一連の処理が施される。この一連の処理のためには、データサイエンスの基盤技術に相当
するコンピュータ・ネットワークの理解が欠かせない。 
本研究では、本学データサイエンス学科の学生を対象として、現代のコンピュータ・ネット
ワークの特徴である分散化・仮想化・知的化を踏まえてコンピュータ・ネットワークを習得さ
せ、Web-DB-AI システムの開発（Development）から社会実装（Deployment）まで行うデータサ
イエンス教育のための学習環境構築を行う。本稿では、現在の取り組み状況について述べる。

 はじめに 
データサイエンスでは、コンピュータ、ネットワーク、その上位に当たるメディア、サービス
それぞれにより生み出されるデータに対する生成・伝送・格納・検索・統合・分析・可視化とい
った一連の処理が施される。この一連の処理のためには、データサイエンスの基盤技術に相当
するコンピュータ・ネットワークの理解が欠かせない。しかし、コンピュータ・ネットワークは
複数の情報通信技術が相互に関係して構成されており、一般的にその習得には時間を要する。 
現代のコンピュータ・ネットワークを大局的に捉えるためには、「分散化」・「仮想化」・「知
的化」という 3軸により分類すると良い。「分散化」とは、ハードウェア、ソフトウェア、デー
タが 1 つ存在ではなく複数存在する状態を指す。例えば、中央計算機が 1 台存在するのではな
くパーソナルコンピュータが複数存在する状態、データが 1 箇所に存在するのではなくさまざ
まな場所に存在する状態に相当する。「仮想化」とは、物理的なハードウェア、ソフトウェア、
データが存在しないのにあたかも存在するかのように振る舞う状態を指す。例えば、ある OS上
で異なる OS を実行する Virtual Machine や物理的な接続形態とは別に仮想的な LANセグメント
を構築する VLAN などが相当する。「知的化」とは、ハードウェア、ソフトウェアがデータによ
り人間のように知的に振る舞う状態を指す。例えば、古典的人工知能プログラム、機械学習プ
ログラム、Google や Amazon などが提供するクラウドコンピューティングサービスにおける人

工知能プログラムなどがデータとともに呼び出され、その計算結果によりハードウェア、ソフ
トウェアが制御されることに相当する。 
コンピュータ、ネットワーク、その上位に当たるメディア、サービスにより生み出されるさ
まざまなデータに対する一連の処理（生成・伝送・格納・検索・統合・分析・可視化）、仕組み
を理解した総合力の高いデータサイエンティストの育成に向けて、本学データサイエンス学科
の学生を対象として、現代のコンピュータ・ネットワークやデータベースの特徴である分散化・
仮想化・知的化を踏まえてコンピュータ・ネットワークを習得させ、Web-DB-AI システムの開発
（Development）から社会実装（Deployment）まで行うデータサイエンス教育のための学習環境
構築に関する研究をおこなっている。ここでの Web-DB-AI システムは、Web サーバとデータベー
ス、そのデータベースに蓄積されるデータを用いてデータ分析を行う人工知能プログラムの総
称である。本稿では、現在の取り組み状況について述べる。 
 
 データサイエンス教育のための学習環境構築 
本学データサイエンス学科におけるデータサイエンス教育の中核としてゼミ形式で実践研究
を行う未来創造プロジェクトという科目が設定されている。すべての学科科目はこの未来創造
プロジェクトにおける実践研究を推進するように構成されている。これらの学科科目において
共通して利用されるデータ格納・分析のためのデータベース、可視化のための Web サーバなど
を学生が利用して実践研究を発展できるように学習環境として 3つの取り組みを行なった。 
 
2.1. Docker-based Web-DB-AI システム開発環境 
学生が現代のコンピュータ・ネットワークの仕組みを理解し、Web-DB-AI システムを開発・社
会実装できることを目的として Docker-based Web-DB-AI システム開発環境を構築した。これに
より、学生は科目ごとに Web-DB-AI システムに関するサンプルプログラムとサンプルデータが
含まれる Docker イメージを自分のノートパソコンにダウンロードして、Docker コンテナを生
成できる。例えば、以下の通りコマンドが入力されると学生は Dockerコンテナ内で開発を行え
る。コンテナ内に存在する開発中のプログラムやデータのファイルにはボリュームマウントに
よりアクセス可能である。

Docker イメージ内に収録されているサンプロプログラムの例として、オンラインショッピン
グプログラムがある。このプログラムは Python Flaskと PostgreSQL により開発されている Web
アプリケーションプログラムである（図 1）。コンテナ内でサンプルプログラムとサンプルデー

タを改良することにより、学生一人ひとりが自分の Web-DB-AI システムを開発できる。例えば、
オンラインショッピングプログラムでは、購買履歴がデータベースに格納される。この購買履
歴をユーザ・アイテムマトリクスとして活用して協調フィルタリングアルゴリズムを適用する
ことにより、学生が人工知能を理解することを可能としている。

さらに開発したシステムを含むコンテナをインターネット上に公開することを目的として、
テスト環境（On Premise サーバ）、本番環境（Google Cloud Platform や Amazon Web Service）
に容易に配置できるように Docker イメージ生成の改良を施した（図 2）。

2.2. On-Premise サーバ構築 
学生一人ひとりが開発した Web-DB-AI システムをインターネットに公開し、実験を行えるこ
とを目的として、本学内に On-Premise サーバを構築・設置した。学生ごとに使用する Python の
バージョンやライブラリが異なるため、Dockerコンテナを On-Premise サーバに移動し、HTTPS
により On-Premise サーバにアクセスされる際の URL に基づき、通信するコンテナを振り分ける
ためのポートフォワーディングが Web サーバ（nginx）にて行われる（図 3）。それぞれの Docker
コンテナには Virtual IP（固定）とポートが割り当てられており、コンテナ外部からコンテナ
内の Flask接続ポートにHTTP通信できる。現在、On-Premiseサーバはds-pj.musashino-u.ac.jp
として運用されている。

2.3. e ラーニングシステムおよび教材整備 
学生自らが 2.1, 2.2 の内容および Web-DB-AI システムの開発を進められることを目的とし
て、eラーニングシステムと教材を整備した。eラーニングシステムにはオープンソース LMSで
ある Irohaboard を使用した。教材整備にはソースコードやコマンドなどの実行結果、数式、表、
画像などを掲載しやすくするために Markdown（Marp）によるコンテンツ作成を行なった。

 Google Cloud 勉強会および成果報告会 
 本学データサイエンス学科の学生が用意したデータサイエンス教育のための学習環境を理
解し、自ら利活用できるのか確認することを目的として、2023 年 2 月〜3 月半ばまでの間に勉
強会を開催した。勉強会に参加した学生は 1〜2 年生 11 名であった。いずれの学生も当初、
Python プログラミング経験はあるものの、Docker やクラウドコンピュータについての理解、使
用経験はなかった。週一度の勉強会と eラーニング教材等により学習を進め、最終的に Google 
Cloud Platform上で Dockerコンテナを実行させるための Cloud Run プロダクトにコンテナを
移植し、自分達の Web-DB-AI システムをインターネット上に公開することができた。 
 3月 14日（火）Google日本法人本社（渋谷ストリーム）にて勉強会に参加した学生による
成果報告会を開催した。成果報告会に出席した学生はスケジュールの都合上６名である。Google
の２名のエンジニアから総評を頂き、コンピュータ・ネットワークの理解と Cloud Run プロダ
クトにおける Docker コンテナの利用、Docker コンテナとデータサイエンスツールとの連携方
法について参加学生がよく理解できているとのコメントを得ることができた。

 まとめと今後の課題 
  本学データサイエンス学科の学生を対象として、現代のコンピュータ・ネットワークの特
徴である分散化・仮想化・知的化を踏まえてコンピュータ・ネットワークを習得させ、Web-DB-
AI システムの開発（Development）から社会実装（Deployment）まで行うデータサイエンス教育
のための学習環境構築に関する取り組み状況について述べた。必要とされる学習環境ならびに
教材を用意したことにより学生が利用できることを確認した。今後、データサイエンス学科の
授業において実利用しながら、定量的にシステムおよび学習効果について評価を行う。それら
の結果に基づき構築した学習環境の改善を図る予定である。

Overview 
Asia AI Institute, Faculty of Data Science, Musashino University together with  
their alliance, realize the importance and the necessity of AI manpower and advanced  
research development, we therefore held the 4th International Symposium on Asia AI:  
AI for better living and environment hybrid at the College of Computing, Prince of 
Songkla University, Phuket Campus, and on ZOOM meeting.

 Introduction 
AI in the promising deep learning aspect has been groomed to the level of industrial 
and business acceptance. Many applied areas have been found in using AI to gain 
potential for improvement. While the significant advancement of AI, many industries 
and businesses are looking for the potential workforce and collaboration to fulfill 
their needs.  
 
Asia AI Institute, Faculty of Data Science, Musashino University, together with 
their alliance, realize the importance and the necessity of AI human resources and 
advanced research development. We, therefore, held the 4th International Symposium on 
Asia AI: AI for Better Living and Environment on December 14, 2022, hybrid at the 
College of Computing, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, and on ZOOM meeting.  
 
 Objectives 
The main objectives of the symposium and its related activities are as follows. 
1. To transfer AI-related knowledge from advanced Japanese organizations to Thai 
academic society.  
2. To transfer AI-related knowledge, skills, and attitudes to increase the economic 
competitiveness of Thai society.  
3. To establish close cooperation between Japanese industries and academia. 
4. To initiate the cooperation between Japanese AI leading organization and Thai 
academia.  
5. To increase the motivation of students to learn advanced knowledge. 
6. To encourage students to have AI technical skills aligned to the need of real 
business and industry. 
 
 Symposium Programs 
We were honored by the expert speakers to present exciting and valuable topics for 
the participants, including students and representatives from both governmental and 
private sectors. 
 
The whole day symposium consisted of an opening session and four invited talk 
sessions. 
The opening session starts with the welcome address of Asst. Prof. Dr. Aziz 
Nanthaamornphong, Dean of the College of Computing Prince of Songkla University, 
followed by two keynote talks, including “The Asia AI Research Collaboration,” by  
Prof. Dr. Yasushi Kiyoki, the Dean of Faculty of Data Science AAII, Musashino

University, and “The Thammasat AI Ready City,” by Prof. Dr. Virach Sornlertlamvanich 
AAII, Musashino University, and Thammasat University.  
 
The first invited talk is the session on Blockchain, AI, and Environment, which 
consists of 3 talks, including   
 
“The Blockchain and its application,” by  Asst. Prof. Dr. Warodom Werapun 
of the College of Computing, Prince of Songkla University, 
  
“The AI-IoT research collaboration,” by Dr. Korawit Prutsachainimmit 
of the College of Computing, Prince of Songkla University, and   
 
“The Environment Science and AI,” by  Prof. Dr. Kiyota Hashimoto of the  
Graduate School, Prince of Songkla University  
 
The second invited talk session is about Art, Community, and Location, which consists 
of talks, including   
 
“The Art Sensorium Project: A System Architecture of Unified Art Collections for 
Virtual Art Experience,” by  Prof. Dr. Naoki Ishibashi of AAII, Faculty of Data 
Science, Musashino University.  
 
“The Applying A Spatial Information Approach and Community-based Sourcing for Smart 
Container Allocation in the Post-Pandemic Era,” by Dr. Athita On-uean of the Faculty 
of Informatics, Burapha University and Prof. Dr. Thatsanee Charoenporn from AAII, 
Faculty of Data Science, Musashino University.  
 
“The Phuket landmarks recognition,” by  Dr.Thitinan Kliangsuwan, of the  
College of Computing, Prince of Songkla University.  
 
“Toward Suitable Area Coverage for Finding Battery Swapping Stations Locations Using 
GIS and Distance Function,” by Dr. Nuttaporn Phakdee and Dr. Athita On-uean from the 
Faculty of Informatics, Burapha University. And   
 
“The Implementation Method of a New Global Communication Platform for Diversity and 
Its Application to Sign Language Communication,” by Prof. Dr. Takafumi Nakanishi of 
AAII, Faculty of Data Science, Musashino University.

The third invited talk session is Culture, Communication, and Tourism, including 
talks that are 
 
“The Material Culture in Media Design,” by Dr. Jakraphan Chaopreecha of the  
College of Computing, Prince of Songkla University.  
 
“The Railway Cyber Space Creation with Idea Creation Workshop,” an online talk by 
Dr. Motoki Yokoyama from the East Japan Railways Company, Japan  
 
“The AI for Tourism,” by  Dr. Kanjana Laosen of the College of Computing, Prince of 
Songkla University. 
 
There are three main topics provided for the talks and discussion on the Summer 
School’s  activities of the AI & 5D World Map System, including 
 
“The AI System for Natural and Social Environmental Analysis,” by Prof. Dr. Yasushi 
Kiyoki, from AAII, Faculty of Data Science, Musashino University. 
 
“The Visualization on the Collaborative Natural and Social Environmental Content,” 
by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shiori Sasaki, from AAII, Faculty of Data Science, Musashino 
University. 
 
“The Collaborative R&D on Smart Bin and the Experiment,” talked by Assoc. Prof. Dr. 
Ryota Nakamura, AAII, MU, Dr. Korawit Prutsachainimmit, and Dr. Ponlawat Chophuk, 
from the Inform FabLab, Faculty of Informatics, Burapha University.  
 
In addition to the discussion during the invited talk session, there is also fruitful 
discussion on further collaborative research among PSU, BUU and, AAII, MU.  
 
Since the 4th AAII symposium is the first hybrid symposium after two years of online 
events, there is 67 registrations from private and academic sectors to participate 
onsite or online, as shown in the figures below.

 Conclusion 
The 4th International Symposium on Asia AI: AI for better living and environment 
was hosted by Asia AI Institute, Faculty of Data Science, Musashino University, with 
the strong support of the College of Computing, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket 
Campus, and our alliances, including Thammasat School of Engineering, Sirindhorn 
International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Research University Network of Thailand 
and Keio University of Japan. It was a hybrid symposium hosted at the College of

Computing, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, and on a ZOOM meeting. Ongoing 
research projects and implementation of AAII and their alliances were presented. 
Collaboration among the audience and AAII are our main objectives and  
the symposium was closed with a very great fruitful discussion and success. We eagerly 
anticipate the presentations, participants, and support that will be part of the 
upcoming AAII Symposium aimed at promoting happiness to the world.
