A report on the criminal responsibility of offenders with intellectual developmental disorders
Intellectual Developmental Disorder (IDD) encompasses deficits in intellectual and adaptive functioning across various domains with heterogeneous clinical manifestations and different behavioral impacts. Functional impairments are now more important in the diagnostic criteria for DSM than IQ scores, which indicates a greater understanding of IDD. Forensic psychiatry faces challenges when it comes to assessing the criminal responsibility of a defendant with IDD, especially in cases where the alterations may be mild and heterogeneous but have a strong impact on criminal behavior. We present two notable cases of individuals with mild intellectual disability who committed various crimes, which emphasizes the complexities of forensic evaluations in this context. A 22yearold man is charged with computer fraud in Case 1. The man's behavior, characterized by organized fraud driven by frustration and social isolation, shows significant deficits in adaptive functioning and social interactions. Case 2 is about a man who was charged with stalking and displayed impulsive and disorganized behavior, which was related to deficits in social cognition and persecutory delusional ideas. We used the Defendant Insanity Assessment Support Scale to retrospectively analyze the cases and assess key dimensions of criminal responsibility, such as knowledge of the crime, appreciation of its nature, reasoning, and control over behavior. The evidence suggests that even minor intellectual impairments can significantly impact overall functioning and criminal behavior, requiring thorough evaluations incorporating medical, criminological, and functional perspectives
Survey data of damaged residential buildings and business premises from the 2022 record-breaking flood in the Marche region, Italy
Accurate flood damage data are essential for developing reliable flood risk assessments and designing effective risk management strategies. However, empirical flood damage data remain limited, particularly at the object level, hindering the calibration and validation of predictive models. Existing datasets are often highly aggregated and lack the granularity required for detailed analysis. This paper presents two comprehensive, micro-scale datasets documenting flood damage to 256 buildings, comprising both residential buildings and business premises, surveyed in the aftermath of the 2022 flood event in the Marche region of Italy. The georeferenced datasets include information on hazard characteristics, buildings’ vulnerability features, physical damage description across structural and non-structural components, indirect damage, and implemented mitigation measures. In addition, original survey forms are provided to support future data collections in different contexts. The quality and richness of these datasets make them a valuable resource for improving flood risk modelling and supporting local stakeholders in identifying intervention priorities
Fuzzy clustering with robust learning models for soccer player profiling and resilience analysis
This study proposes an integrated analytical framework to enhance football performance analytics by combining feature engineering, fuzzy clustering, interpretable machine learning, and topological network analysis. The framework is designed to extract latent offensive profiles and predict high-efficiency scoring profiles across domestic and international competitions. The approach begins by constructing three composite indicators – Index of Offensive Efficiency, Competitive Resilience Index, and Versatility Score – designed to capture multidimensional aspects of a player’s offensive productivity, adaptability across competitions, and contribution breadth. These engineered metrics inform a fuzzy clustering algorithm that reveals two core performance profiles: “Seasoned Finishing Specialists” and “Emerging Versatile Contributors”. Building on this segmentation, a supervised learning model based on XGBoost is employed to predict the likelihood of surpassing a goals-per-shot efficiency threshold. Model interpretability is ensured via SHAP plot, which highlight the pivotal role of salary, finishing metrics, and competition-specific resilience. Partial dependence plots further expose nonlinear and interactive effects between key predictors. A network-based analysis complements the model by mapping performance similarities and identifying both archetypal and transitional performers via centrality measures. Robustness checks, including alternative winsorization, fuzziness levels, and subgroup-specific clustering, confirm the stability of the results. Overall, the proposed framework bridges segmentation and prediction with transparency and domain-relevance, offering a comprehensive toolkit for decision-makers in sports analytics, recruiters, and talent management
Dermatologic Comorbidities Associated with Atopic Dermatitis Towards a Shared Therapeutical Approach: A Narrative Review
Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition commonly associated with other dermatologic comorbidities, which can complicate management and affect treatment outcomes. This review aims to analyse the dermatologic comorbidities of AD, their underlying mechanisms, and therapeutic implications, with a focus on their management in clinical practice. Methods: A narrative review was conducted by searching PubMed, Embase, Cochrane and ClinicalTrials.gov, using terms related to AD and its comorbidities, including allergic contact dermatitis, alopecia areata, prurigo nodularis, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa and chronic spontaneous urticaria. Results: The literature highlights a strong association between AD and several dermatologic comorbidities, including allergic contact dermatitis, alopecia areata, chronic spontaneous urticaria, hidradenitis suppurativa, psoriasis, prurigo nodularis and vitiligo. Promising therapeutic effects were observed with JAK inhibitors, dupilumab and other biologics across multiple comorbid condition. Conclusion: Recognizing comorbidities in AD is critical for effective management. Tailored therapies targeting both AD and its comorbidities, based on shared immunological mechanisms, may improve outcomes. Further research is needed to optimize treatment strategies and explore combination therapies for patients with both AD and comorbid dermatological conditions
Global Exponential Stability Preservation Under Sampling and Approximated Delay-Dependent Feedbacks for Nonlinear Systems With Time-Varying Delays
This manuscript shows the global exponential stability preservation for the class of fully nonlinear retarded globally Lipschitz systems with time-varying delays under suitably fast sampling while considering at the same time the problem of the nonavailability in the buffer device of the system variables at some past (delayed) times. To this aim, a spline interpolation scheme is exploited to derive the digital control law, which has the benefit of ease of implementation. Main theoretical results are achieved by means of Halanay's inequality. The knowledge of a Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is not required as long as the system at hand is globally exponentially stabilizable by a globally Lipschitz feedback in continuous time. Its knowledge is needed to quantify a maximum sampling period

Telemedicine in the preoperative setting: turning potential into practice
The integration of telemedicine (TM) into the preoperative evaluation pathway is an idea whose time has come. Its potential to improve accessibility, efficiency, and clinical outcomes is supported by a growing body of evidence [1–3]. However, in many healthcare systems,mplementation remains inconsistent or absent. The slow and fragmented adoption of telemedicine in the perioperative period is not a result of limited technology but rather of complex barriers—organizational, clinical, regulatory, and infrastructural—that have yet to be adequately addressed. Table 1 lists, for each area, the issues that need to be addressed to introduce telemedicine in a solid and structured way into the perioperative pathway
EFFECTS OF AN ONLINE CIRCUIT TRAINING PROGRAM ON PHYSICAL FITNESS IN WOMEN WITH FIBROMYALGIA.
Purpose: Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition associated with reduced physical function and quality of life. Numerous studies have strongly recommended physical activity (PA) as a means to alleviate symptoms associated with fibromyalgia. This study aimed to assess the effects of an online 12-week circuit training program on physical fitness in individuals with fibromyalgia.
Methods: Participants (n=21 age=45.9±10.2) diagnosed with
fibromyalgia were divided into two groups. The intervention group (IG) (n=12) completed a structured 12-week online circuit training (CT) protocol conducted twice weekly on non-consecutive days. Each
session, delivered via Microsoft Teams, lasted approximately 60
minutes and included: 10 minutes of warm up, 3 sets of 8 training stations that alternated between resistance, endurance, and mobility activities with a work-recovery ratio of 1:1 (30 sec of work followed by 30 sec of rest) and 10 minutes of cool down. The control group (CG)
(n=9) maintained their usual daily activities throughout the study period. Outcome measures included health-related physical fitness assessed through the Senior Fitness Test battery, comprising the 30-second chair stand, arm curl, 2-minute step test, sit-and-reach, back scratch, and 8-foot up-and-go assessments. Participants underwent testing before (T0) and after (T1) 12 weeks.
Results: None of the subjects suffered injury from exercise training. Preliminary findings suggest improvements in the IG for the arm curl test (P=0.002) and 8-foot up-and-go test (P<0.001) from T0 to T1. No significant differences were observed in the CG during the same period.
After the 12-week training period, significant differences were observed between the IG and CG in both the arm curl test (P=0.003) and 8-foot up-and-go test (P<0.001).
Conclusions: The findings of this study highlight the potential benefits of a targeted online 12-week circuit training program for individuals with fibromyalgia in improving specific aspects of physical fitness. It is important to note that these results are preliminary, as the complete protocol spans 24 weeks. Further research is needed to explore the longterm effects of such interventions also on quality of life and symptoms management in this population
