Designing an Interactive Database for Preserving the Heritage of Mosul City

    No full text
This study details "Mosul Heritage," an online platform developed to protect the extensive cultural legacy of Mosul, Iraq, encompassing periods from ancient Nineveh through Islamic and Ottoman times to the modern day. The city's heritage, including its distinctive architecture, artifacts, narratives, and crafts, faced significant threats, notably the destruction caused by ISIS between 2014 and 2017 [Un18]. "Mosul Heritage" facilitates contributions from the public and institutions, accepting diverse content like personal stories, images of clothing, photographs, and virtual reality (VR) materials, all categorized by historical context and function. A panel of academic experts verifies the accuracy and educational value of each submission, enriching them with scholarly annotations. Incorporating features such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), planned cloud hosting, and interactive capabilities like user likes and comments, the platform functions as a dynamic digital repository, safeguarding Mosul's visual, sonic, and informational heritage

UX-Prozessmodelle: Der große Fit-Check für deine Praxis!

    No full text

VRsim_EU – AI Act: Exploring Educational Simulation Gaming in Virtual Reality

    No full text
Simulation games can make complex situations with various stakeholders tangible for learners, e. g. in parliamentary simulations. By looking at the concept of game immersion as an integral part of the didactic method of simulation gaming as well as presence as a defining characteristic of the medium Virtual Reality (VR), the paper explores the potential benefits of combining the two in educational contexts. To investigate the potentials and challenges of VR- supported simulation gaming, a prototype of a simulation game set in the European Parliament Hemicycle is developed and will be tested with different target groups

Perspectives on Contexts and Adaptations for Cross-Reality

    No full text
Recent technological advances in head-mounted displays enable seamless transitional between different degrees of reality and virtuality using consumer hardware. This so-called transitional cross-reality brings new chances, but also challenges regarding mental load through transitions and keeping mental images of currently invisible scenes. We propose to include personalisation through context-awareness to solve these issues. In this work, we discuss different perspectives on context features, such as spatial situation, experience business logic, and user’s personal preferences. We also discuss dimensions for cross-reality adaptations, including visual, audio, and haptic output

Evaluierung einer gamifizierten Lern-App: Usability, User Experience und Lerneffekt in der Hochschulbildung

    No full text

    No full text
