    Contradictions between Pedagogy and Educational Practice: Considerations from Herbartian Pedagogy and Backward Design Theory

    Abstract  This paper examines the relationship between pedagogy (the theory of educational practice) and educational practice, focusing on these dynamics through the perspectives of Herbartian pedagogy and backward design theory. Pedagogical theory provides an effective framework for obtaining a holistic, bird’s-eye view of individual classroom practices, which are otherwise difficult to grasp in their entirety. Nevertheless, problems emerge in actual practice: for example, educators may become constrained by theoretically defined perspectives, limiting their ability to sufficiently develop the diverse activities envisioned by theory.  Within educational practice, it is essential to engage in self-directed systematization (restructuring) of experience, with theoretical learning serving as the foundation for this process. However, current approaches to theoretical education in teacher training do not necessarily fulfil their preparatory function of promoting “learning by doing and through reflection.” In light of this, theory should be studied in tandem with the accumulation of practical experience through mock lessons and similar activities, allowing future teachers to internalize the basic actions and sensations involved in lesson delivery. The key is not an overemphasis on providing systematic overviews of theory, but rather cultivating an understanding of the generative processes and purposes (aims) of theory. Teachers who undergo such preparation can restructure their experiences in real educational settings and use this as a critical resource for improving their theoretically informed practices.  Furthermore, issues concerning educational goals (classroom lessons) must not be overlooked. In contemporary educational contexts, numerous lesson objectives are often reduced to examination-focused targets. Moreover, educators themselves have typically been educated within examination-centered systems. Thus, insufficient attention is given to fundamental educational aims, such as Herbart’s multifaceted interests (Vielseitigkeit der Interesse) and strong character (Characterstärker), as well as Wiggins and McTighe’s “six facets of understanding.” Consequently, educational practice theory risks becoming a mere ideal, difficult to attain in reality, which hinders educators from continuously improving their theory-based practices.departmental bulletin pape

    Planning and Practice of Critical Care Nursing Skills Laboratory to Enhance Readiness for Onsite Practice

    要  旨  迅速な看護問題の同定と即時性のある看護実践を展開できる能力の育成を目指して,今年度,クリティカルケア看護学援助論演習で展開する看護過程および看護実践の授業内容の大幅な改変に取り組んだ.具体的には,クリティカルケアの特徴である対象の急激な変化を捉えるトレーニングや対象の機能変化に応じた看護ケアの検討などの課題を設定した.また,学生主体のアクティブラーニングで演習全体を進行できるように事前学習を工夫し,グループワーク中心の授業設計を試みた. これにより,学生達は積極的にグループワークに参加し課題に取り組むことができた.結果として,学生達は各授業回の到達目標を概ね達成できたと評価できる.Abstract  To develop the ability to quickly identify nursing problems and an immediate nursing practice, this year, we undertook a major modification of the course content of the nursing process and practice developed in the critical care nursing skills laboratory. Specifically, we set tasks such as training to grasp rapid changes in patients, which is a characteristic of critical care, and to think about nursing care in response to changes in the subjects’functions. In addition, we devised prior learning and attempted to design a class centered on group work so that the entire exercise could be conducted for a student-centered active learning experience.  This allowed the students to actively participate in group work and work on problems. Therefore, it can be evaluated that the students generally achieved the objectives of each class session.departmental bulletin pape

    要旨  わが国は1990 年のバブル崩壊以降長きにわたり経済不況を経験することになる。とくに2000 年以降は有効な経済対策を打つことができないまま、深刻な長期デフレに陥った。こうした中で2012 年以降日本銀行はリフレ派と称される人たちを中心に異次元とも言われる積極的な金融緩和政策に乗り出す。その政策の理論的根拠になったのが、ミルトン・フリードマンの流れを汲む、クリスティーナ・ローマであった。ローマは大恐慌に関する研究を通じて深刻なデフレに対する中央銀行の重要性を説く。これはフリードマン=シュウォーツの『米国貨幣史』と軌を一にするものであるが、そこでは十分実証できなかった問題をローマは新たに解決する。その意味でローマの研究は『貨幣史』を補完するものである。  ローマはフリードマン達と同様に安易な数理的統計的分析に満足することなく、現実の経済の実態を資料、経済情報誌を丹念に読み解くことによって、当時の人びとの心の中に立ち入る。そこで得られたものは、経済を動かすのは心理状況であり、それに働きかける政策の重要性を強調する。そして、その中で中央銀行はいかにあるべきかを問い、優れた中央銀行家には謙遜と大胆さ(humility and hubris)のバランスが求められると結論する。departmental bulletin pape

    要  約  本稿は,権威主義的な思考様式の構成要素は何であるのかについて考察し,次いで,その思考様式の要素間の因果関係を明らかにして,何が権威主義的思考様式のもっとも根本的な構成要素であるのかを探求する。この問題は,筆者にとってのより大きい問題,すなわち,日本政府また日本人は全体として,何故基本的人権に関する認識を十分に持っていないのかという問題について考えるための問題である。筆者は,日本政府や日本人において,権威主義的思考様式が強いことが基本的人権認識の弱さの原因であるとの仮説を立てている。  権威主義的思考様式の構成要素は次の3 つに集約される。1 .近代科学的な価値観を否定する。2 .過去から存在を続けてきたものが正しいと考え,それを信頼する。3 .人が生まれつき持っている特性が絶対で,それを後天的に変えることはできないと考える。そして,これら3 つに共通する権威主義的思考様式のさらに根底的な要素は,「自分個人が主体的に思考し判断することを否定する」ということである。Abstract  This article considers what elements constitute authoritarian thinking and what element of these is the basic one. This question is related to a more important problem: Why the Japanese government and people lack comprehension regarding fundamental human rights.  The elements of authoritarian thinking are as follows:  1. Denying modern scientific thinking;  2. Respecting past experiences and relying on them;  3.
