Get PDFThis study adds to the research area by examining well known concepts among a population—family members of service members—that is not at the forefront of military relationship research, but that plays an important role in the social, emotional, and psychological experiences of military service members, and whose own social, emotional, and psychological experiences may be affected by their loved ones’ service. Extensions and replications of this study could further illuminate the relationships found in this study between moral injury, depression, and suicidal ideations, as well as aid in the understanding of the pathological impact military service has on those closest to the service members. If one can understand clinically how military mental health care can be expanded to not only the military personnel but to their families as well, one could potentially bring higher quality mental health care to all.Psychology Departmen
