    No full text
The main biochemical quality indices of seeds for the cultivated plants are influenced by a series of factors, such as: gentic, technological, abiotic or biotic factors. The storage period, the germination capacity and seed vigor are in direct correclation with the seeds’ biochemical indices, which vary depending on the cultivar. The present work presents a study regarding the influence of the cultivar and storage period on the main biochemical indices of the garden pea seeds. The ash content varied in the case of pea seeds between 1.4%for the Skinado cultivar and 2.4% for the Television cultivar. The crude protein varied in the case of the cultivar selection understudy between 20.20% forthe Television cultivar and 27.40% for the Skinado cultivar, and the total lipids varied between 5.10% (Ambrosia cultivar) and 6.50% (Ran 1 round-seedand Kelvedon Wonder cultivars). The reducing sugars varied between quite large limits, from 10.20% in the case of the Television cultivar, up to 18.30% in the case of the Ran 1 wrinkled-seed cultivar

Grafting, at watermelons, could be used to increase resistance to environmental stress, in order to increase resistance to soil pathogens and pests (nematodes, European mole cricket, wire, white or grey worms), also could reduce, during the vegetation period, the pests attack (aphids, thrips, two-spotted spider mite, seedcorn maggotand mining fly). It is presented the situation of the trade, made by Kileler Plants SRL with grafted seedlings of green melons, grafted vegetables from Greece. Plants obtained from grafted melon seedling have not been attacked bynematodes, and the percentage of plants attacked by European mole cricket, wireworms, white worms and gray worms was lower, less than 0.1% of grafted plants have been destroyed by pests, in respect with 4.8% from non-grafted plants. The pest control technology during the vegetation period, is presented, showing that in the case of grafted plants at least one control treatment may be reduced

Evaluation of soil water regime in the viable irrigation systems from Romania

    No full text
The aim of this study was to evaluate the active soil moisture range, soil water deficit, and water requirements for plant consumption at agricultural parcel level (NUTS5) where irrigation is applied. In order to evaluate the active soil moisture range, soil water deficit, and water requirements for plant consumption, the method used values of hydrophysical indices (field capacity, wilting point, and active soil moisture range), potential evapotranspiration according to Thornthwaite equation and climatic data for the time period 1961-2014. The evaluations of the different indicators were done at agricultural parcel level fitted within the viable irrigation systems. Irrigated agricultural parcels (NUTS5) are located mostly in the viable irrigation systems from Romanian Plain, south of Moldavia and Dobrogea. The obtained results showed a high variation of the active soil moisture range values. Low values are recorded especially in viable irrigation systems from south part of the country. High and very high values are recorded in eastern and south-eastern part of the country. There is a high water deficit in the most areas of the viable irrigation systems which require irrigation application. High values of water requirement were recorded in south and south-east. This means that there is a high water demand for crop consumption, especially during drought periods

Metabolic researches in Țurcana sheep breeding in different pastoral ecosystems

The health of Tsurcana sheep in different pastoral ecosystems is the result of a continuous adaptive metabolic process to macro and microclimate changes, depending on individual factors and breed characteristics (the rustic, indigenous breeds are better adapted). In this paper, the biological study material were two-year old Tsurcana sheep raised in Fagaraș, Rucar, Bacau (Comanești area); exclusively pasture fed; from each region and from each flock we collected blood samples from 5 sheep and we presented the average of the values obtained. We found: hypercholesterolemia in the Tsurcana sheep in all three regions (Fagaras and Rucar with similar values), hyperglobulinemia in Tsurcana sheep from Rucar; increased GOT activity in all the Tsurcana tested, most notably at Rucar; increased GPT activity, the highest value in those from Bacau; the increase in GGT activity, the highest value in Ţurcanele de Bacau. This increased plasma activity is due to hepatic lesions, hyperuraemia (the highest values being registered for the Rucar and Bacău Tsurcana); hypercreatinemia (the highest value in Bacau). A classification, depending on the affected organs: the liver is affected in sheep in Rucar and in Bacau; - the kidney and implicitly the nucleoproteic metabolism is more affected in Bacău and Rucăr sheep; the proteic metabolism in sheep in Rucar, where the highest globulin value were identified; on the other hand the increased globulins play a role in the host immunity and we must not forget that the research was carried out during lactation and the sheep from Rucar graze during summer at Lake Iezer at an altitude of over 1800 m; as for cholesterol, it is increased in sheep in all three regions; so lipid metabolism is disrupted, implicitly liver function. In conclusion: Fagaras Tsurcana have hypercholesterolemia, but excretion and epuration are less affected; correlating the obtained results, it can be argued that routine explorations can sometimes reveal unexpected and isolated transaminase elevations; these increases may be influenced by excess weight, adaptive liver reactions, cardio-circulatory failure etc.; many of these are not clinically investigated

    No full text
The tomatoes represent the most largely spread vegetable species, being valued across all continents and cultivated over the period of the entire year. The tomato nutritional quality largely depends on the genetic potential of the cultivar, the biotope, as well as the fertilization system that was used. The main aim of these studies represents the analysis of the effect of using different technological means (cultivar, fertilization, irrigation) in order to obtain the tomato fruits with a high nutritional content

Experimental determination of the wear resistance of devices used for cutting the stalks of agricultural plants

    No full text
The paper presents researches on the wear resistance of the blades integrated in the combine cutter for the harvesting of agricultural plants. The wear of the combine cutters causes production losses at harvesting both during operation and stopping machines to change the blades. Experimental determination of wear was made for blades on cutting attachment of three types of combines studied. The parameters determined in the wear study were the hardness, mass and roughness of both the new blades and the blades used for 100 hours of harvest operation. The analysis of the data on the degree of wear of the blades both quantitatively by determining the mass and qualitatively by studying the roughness of the used surfaces under identical conditions of operation, presents differential losses for the three combines that correlate with the blade hardness

    No full text
Apples and beverages are an important source of antioxidants, effective in fighting free radicals. The apple has high nutritional value and can be eaten fresh as a fruit throughout the year or it can be a raw material for juice, nectar, puree, compotes, apple cider, vinegar and dehydrated fruit. The objective of the paper is to present the nutritional and health benefits of apples and its derivatives from the scientific literature of food chemistry, horticulture, agriculture and medicine. Articles and online references have been consulted. Knowing that apples and derived products are a source of polyphenols, the source of B and C vitamins, calcium, potassium phosphorus, and fiber, with antioxidant properties that reduce the risk of developing tumors, hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and brain aging . The nutritional profile of the fruit, juice and apple cider are summarized as average values of polyphenols, antioxidant capacity and fiber, vitamins and minerals content. Therefore, it is recommended to include the apple in the daily diet, both the core and the peel without neglecting the offer of juices, smoothies, cider and apple vinegar from Romani
