Canine granulomatous meningoencephalitis: a case report and review of the literature
Canine granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis (GME) is a subtype of a large group of idiopathic central nervous system diseases with a relatively high incidence (up to 25%) among dogs with central nervous system affection (Tipold, 1995). Neurological presentation of GME can vary from focal to multifocal, or ocular form. Histologically, GME is characterized by focal, disseminated or perivascular mononuclear cells spreading in the white matter and meninges (Coates and Jeffery, 2014). The aim of the current case report is to describe the pathological findings and to discuss the diagnostic features of this disease. Therefore, we should further emphasize the importance of this disease in current veterinary practice
Assessment of antibiotics sensitivity of the most frequent potential pathogen bacteria isolated in the microbiology laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Iași, during 2017-2018
In the veterinary practice, establishing the etiological diagnosis represents the quintessence of the anti- infectious therapy. The final diagnosis based on the correctness of the laboratory results and the microbiological examination, together with the hematological, immunological, histopathological, etc., has a major role in getting the right therapeutic protocol. In the current context, characterized by a wide etiological variety of infections, it is necessary to identify and test the sensitivity to antibiotics of pathogens isolated from different biological samples. The present study of the Microbiology Laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Iași presents the results obtained on various strains isolated from dogs and cats with different diseases during 2017-2018. The tests performed on of 83 microbiological samples (otic, pharyngeal, cutaneous and conjunctival secretions, urine, feces, etc.) identified 107 aerobic and anaerobic bacterial strains, classified into 20 bacterial genera. The most commonly isolated aerobic bacterial species were: Staphylococcus pseudointermedius (27.10%), Streptococcus sp.gr.G (8.41), Enterococcus faecalis (4.67%), Streptococcus sp. gr.C (3.73%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (5.60%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (2.80%). The most commonly isolated anaerobic bacterial species were: Clostridium perfringens (9.35%), Campylobacter sp. (1.87%).The results of the antibiograms revealed a wide variability of sensitivity and resistance of the isolated strains to the antibiotics, most of them being multiple drug resistance
Fertilizarea culturilor de tomate –un beneficiu incontestabil al eficientizării producţiilor la nivel scontat
Because the plant is a symbiosis of two systems, one heterotroph with one autotroph, respectively the root with the aerial part, it is the projection of a somewhat differentiated and yet unitary metabolism, and at the same time, a "barometer" of the nutrition state. The nutritional disorders are thus, in close agreement with the vegetation but also nutrition factors, especially in relation to the fertilization practices. Along with the dosage of the movable elements in the soil, the foliar diagnosis represents the main and efficient method to complete the necessary elements. nutrition, in different developmental phenomena. The paper presents results of foliar diagnosis, at a crop of tomatoes in the field, at two critical moments of nutrition, before flowering and at the beginning of ripening. The obtained results, regarding the state of ensurance with macroelements, certify the need for additional fertilizer intervention andguarantee the obtaining of harvests at an expected level
Innovations and advanced technologies – sources to increase the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises from the horticultural sector of the Republic of Moldova
Achieving success in business depends indisputably by the notion of competitiveness, which is a very used term in the modern economy, characterizing the level of performance of an enterprise. We can speak about the notion competitiveness at different levels: product competitiveness, enterprise’s competitiveness, competitiveness of a branch
of economy and competitiveness of a country. Although competitiveness has many definitions al over the World, we can conclude that it doesn’t exist an unique opinion regarding this notion and we can afirm that the competitiveness of a country depends on the competitiveness of the enterprises from this country. It is crucially for any long-term
organizational development strategy to introduce innovations, advanced technologies in the adopted business models, in the processes of production, which will determine high level of productivity, thus contributing at the increasing of the competitiveness of the enterprises. The purpose of this scientific research is to: analyze the innovations and advanced technologies as a source of increasing the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises from the horticultural sector of the Republic of Moldova, to highlight the major problems faced by the agricultural enterprises in introducing innovations and new technologies in the production of horticultural production, to reveal the role of the state in application of innovations and advanced technologies to develop a high performance agriculture and to propose measures for enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises through innovations and new technologies
Stress induced by muzzle wearing in dogs
The study was conducted over a period of 6 months in collaboration with 2 private clinics in Iași on an initial number of 14 dogs of different breeds, sex and ages, clinically and paraclinically examined by hematological, biochemical, ultrasound and cortisol dosing, all being declared clinically healthy. The inclusion criterion in the study was the frequent wearing of the muzzle, all the individual being declared healthy prior to examination. The study aimed to establish the correlation between the increased level of sustained stress and the wearing of the muzzle in dogs with the possible development of adrenal gland neoplasia. The subjects were divided into 2 distinct groups, the first, consisting of 7 patients, represented by dogs that did wear muzzles, the second, 7 dogs who sis not wear it during testing. The test involved walking the dogs for about
60 minutes, four times in a week, under the same environmental and stimulation conditions for all participants, eventually being subjected to blood sampling to determine cortisol and to evaluate hematological changes at the beginning of the study, one and two weeks after. Compared with the initial values, group 1 showed significant increases of cortisol (from 3.76 ± 0.4 to 13.7±0.9 μg / dl), a marker of the stress level in the body. Also, the hematological picture revealed a decrease in eosinophil count. Subjects in group 2 had a slight increase in cortisol level (from 3,45±0,6 to 5.85±0.4 μg / dl), associated with no changes in total eosinophils. The study demonstrates the impact of muzzle wearing on dogs, which produces transitional changes in cortisol levels, but given the length of it, cannot be established any correlation with neoplasia development as the observed changes were only transitional
Epidemiology and clinical presentation of dogs infected with sarcoptic mange
Sarcoptic mange in dog is a common parasitic dermatitis, especially in non-controlled, stray dogs that develop evocative clinical signs. The present study includes 48 dogs, with different backgrounds, both privately owned and dogs from shelters. We searched for predisposing factors for contacting sarcoptic mange, such as: age, sex, breed, source of contamination. Their age ranged from 1.15 months to 12 years (with more than a half being under 1 year old), they were mostly common or cross-breed dogs, and the sex ratio was almost equal, with 25 females and 23 males. All dogs were naturally infected with Sarcoptes scabiei, as confirmed by identification on the microscope of skin scrapings from different body areas. Furthermore, we aimed to have a general idea concerning the severity of infection with Sarcoptes scabiei in the dogs we studied. The dogs received a clinical score based on the evaluation of typical signs that appear in sarcoptic mange such as alopecia, erythema, scales/crusts and the extent of mange on the cutaneous surface on different body parts (head, trunk, legs, tail). The most affected body part was the head, followed by the trunk and the most scored sign was the extent of affected skin and alopecia. The treatment consisted in the administration of either afoxolaner (Nexgard®), twice at a monthly interval (2.7-6.9 mg/kg), either sarolaner (Simparica®), twice at a monthly interval (2-4 mg/kg), or doramectin (Dectomax®) 0.2 mg/kg, twice at 14 days interval
Structural modeling and optimization of agrozootechnical building
Within this analysis the structural and behavioral differences will be highlighted for external actions in this paper, but also the adaptation of the structure to the technological conditions imposed by the architectural and functional design of the agrozootechnical building structure. The construction will be considered for Iasy County. Thus, the prefabricated
reinforced concrete frame structure with the corresponding roof panels from hot rolled profiles type IPE, will have the spatial cooperation between frames ensured by the stiffening beams that join the pillars in the longitudinal profile of the building. The pillar joints will be considered as articulated. The steel structure will have rigid-pole-beam joints, and the spatial co-operation will be ensured by the vertical contraventions present at the level of the pediments between the pillars, but also at the level of the marginal beams only between the marginal pillars. They will also be willing roof plane countervailing for increased rigidity of the wind and Earthquake. The wooden structure will have ensured the
spatial cooperation between the frames only through the panels roof, not including other elements of braking and stiffening. The joints will be rigid between the pillar and the beam, and the continuity of the roof panels will be ensured by mounting the multinail plates at their joints. The structural optimization will be done through a comparative study of
the three structural variants and the proposal of the one that meets all the beneficiary requirements
Influenta arealului de cultura asupra a doua cultivare de catina (Hippophae rhamnoides)
Attention to the significance of conventional medicine in the field of health and herbal research are valuable. Hippophae rhamnoides has been used in Chinese and Russian medicine for several decades. The research of medicinal plants has grown more and more, Hippophae rhamnoides being a very important plant, as it contains a biodiversity of both nutritional and medical constituents. Bioactive fruits are one of the most important sources of bioelements constituents, and are used as a nutritional and medicinal alternative. The chemical components give value to the products obtained from this miraculous plant. Sea buckthorn is a pure store of natural antioxidants, rich in flavonoids, glucosides, phenols, terpenes, vitamins E, A, C, B-carotene, and trace elements, including iron, zinc, manganese, very low molecular weight antioxidants, which neutralizes free radicals. The results regarding the soluble dry matter from fresh fruits are between 7.6-12.64%. Total sugar content between 5.57-10.61 mg/100g fresh substance
Influence of the sowing data concerning maize leaf weevil (Tanymecus Dilaticollis Gyll) attack in atypically climatic conditions from spring period, in South-East of Romania
Maize leaf weevil (Tanymecus dilaticollis Gyll) is main pest of the maize crop in south and south-east of the Romania. Every year, more then one million of hectares sowed with maize are attacked by this pest. Climatic conditions registered in April and May, between 2016 and 2018, at NARDI Fundulea, was atypically for this pest attack. In years 2017 and 2018, rainfalls amount was over multiyear averages, both in April and May, while average air temperature was lower then multiyear average, in May (years 2016 and 2017) and April, year 2017. Registered rainfalls amount in April and May, in year 2018 were lower while average air temperatures were higher then multiyear average. At NARDI Fundulea, it has studied maize sowing data influence, in period 2016-2018, concerning maize leaf weevil attack at maize plants in first vegetation stages (BBCH 10-BBCH 14). In the climatic conditions of the year 2016, the attack of the T. dilaticollis weevils was higher at untreated maize plants sowed on 27 April (I=6,01) comparative with untreated maize plants sowed on 19 May (I=5,85), but statistical differences weren’t significant (p<0.05). In the climatic
conditions of the year 2017, the attack of the T. dilaticollis weevils was higher at untreated maize plants sowed on 19 May (I=5,68) comparative with untreated maize plants sowed on 27 April (I=5,30), but statistical differences weren’t significant (p<0.05). In the climatic conditions of the year 2018, the attack of the T. dilaticollis weevils was higher at untreated maize plants sowed on 25 April (I=4,61) comparative with untreated maize plants sowed on 17 May (I=4,16), in this case statistical difference was significant (p<0.05). In case of variants with treated seeds with imidacloprid active ingredient, it hasn’t registered significant statistical differences concerning attack intensity between plots sowed in April
and plots sowed in May. In all studied years, differences between untreated variants and variants with seed treated with imidacloprid active ingredient, was significant from statistically point of view (p<0.05), regardless sowing data
