Risk Management Practices, Project Implementation and Performance of Jua-Kali Empowerment Programmes in Nairobi, Kenya
There is limited empirical literature supporting the interaction of risk management practices and the relationship between project implementation and performance of empowerment programmes. This theoretical limitation cannot just be ignored in the context of entrepreneurs` empowerment programmes due to their immense contribution to the National Gross Product (NGP) and national wellbeing. The purpose of this research was to examine the influence of risk management practices on the relationship between project implementation and performance of Jua-kali Empowerment Programmes (JEP) in Nairobi County, Kenya. The target population was 327 enterprises having benefitted from the JEP in Nairobi County Kenya. A sample of 181 entrepreneurs chosen using Krejcie and Morgan sample determination table. Both simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques were used to select samples. The reliability of the questionnaire was tested using Cronbach Alpha Coefficient of reliability at 0.7. Pearson`s Correlation Coefficient (r) was used in correlational analysis and regression analysis was used in predicting the research model. The results showed that at P=0.000<0.05, r= 0.575, R2= 0.331 for F (1,145) = 4.632 depicting 1.4% change in performance of the programmes after introduction of risk management practices. It demonstrates that strength of the relationship between project implementation and performance of JEP depends on risk management practices. It was concluded that there is significance interaction between project implementation and risk management practices that moderates the effect of the project implementation on the performance of JEP. Hence Governments, implementors and supporters of entrepreneurs` empowerment programmes should strive to implement need-based project interventions while ensuring adequate risk mitigation measures in order to thwart adverse uncertainties and events that may derail sustainable delivery of results.

Influence of Total Quality Management Principles on the Success of Construction Projects Performance in Mombasa County
The construction industry is one of the most important wheels for the development of infrastructure and economy of a Nation and in realization of the Agenda 4. Four Agenda: It is a four-point agenda by President Uhuru Kenyatta, outlining what he will be focusing on in his last presidential term to improve the living standards of Kenyans, grow the economy and leave a lasting legacy. It is therefore important that adequate measures are put in place to ensure quality in the sector. Total Quality Management (TQM) is considered as one of the most important approaches to achieve quality in construction Industry in not only Kenya but the world over. This study investigated the influence of total quality management principles in context of project performance in the construction industry in Mombasa County. The study was guided by four specific objectives: to establish influence of strategic planning on success of project performance in the construction industry; to examine influence of process approach to management on success of project performance in the construction industry; to determine influence of customer satisfaction on success of project performance in the construction industry; to assess influence of supplier relationship on success of project performance in the construction industry. The study was premised on Demings and Shewhart cycle theories on total quality management. The target population for the study is 60 active contractors firms as registered by the National Construction Association (NCA) in Mombasa County. The sample size was established at 5 contracting firms. The study adopted random sampling procedure. A structured and semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. Data analysis techniques used were central tendency (mean, standard deviations, percentages), correlation and chi-square analysis using SPSS. The data was presented in tables and researcher’s interpretation. The findings showed that supplier relationships significantly influence the success of project performance, Strategic planning management was the most practiced TQM principle and procedural barriers are an impediment to TQM practices in the construction industry in Mombasa County. The study concludes that supplier relationships have a positive impact on TQM practices in the Mombasa County construction industry. The study recommends that customer focus management should be the focus of suppliers in practicing total quality management in their work. Through collaborating and cooperating with the client during the construction process means that suppliers can be able to meet the client quality requirements thus achieving total quality management.

Moderating Effect of Gearing Ratio on the Relationship between Loyalty Programs and Financial Performance of Selected Firms in Service Industry in Kenya
The purpose of the study was to determine the moderating effect of gearing ratio on the relationship between loyalty programs and financial performance of selected firms in service industry in Kenya. The study employed explanatory research design which is non-experimental in nature. The target population was three (3) telecommunication firms (Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom Kenya), 49 supermarkets and 46 Five Star hotels. Since the population of telecommunication firms was small, the study used the census survey method. Purposive sampling was used to select 5 big Supermarkets and 16 Five Star hotels. Panel data analysis was used to link the relationship between the variables. Similarly, One-Way ANOVA was used to find out if the financial performance of the three service industries were different. Diagnostic tests which included normality tests, multicollinearity tests, panel unit root tests and fixed and random effect were carried out. The results further showed that gearing ratio have a negative and significant relationship with financial performance of service industry. The regression results revealed that gearing ratio improved the strength of the relationship between loyalty program and Financial Performance of the Selected Firms in Service Industry in Kenya. Since long term debt provides tax shield for the company, there is every tendency for the company to continue to grow debts, the effect of accumulating unnecessary debts should form regular policy discuss by the management and the directors, hence there should be high-powered committees of the managements and the board to review the debt portfolio from time to time. These committees should be firm on investment/divestment of any debt capital to ensure that the company stays afloat all the time without the fear of any litigation for not meeting up with all present and previous obligations.
