No full textThe purpose of this paper is to present a summary of the current state of my proposals on the subject of health and disease, the discussion and the implications they have on the different aspects of medical practice.Necessarily, I will have to refer to the different texts written on the subject, so that only a summary of them will be presented here, as a basis for developing some concepts that constitute what we could call the latest contributions, recently published and others still unpublished.Two currents can be roughly differentiated in the field of social medicine; one implicitly accepts the concept of health and disease, in terms of basic definition and set of diagnoses and has been working on the side of expanding or modifying the explanation of the disease, relying on social factors and their determining influence in shaping the profiles of patients, and the other on the side of the social factors and their determining influence in shaping the profiles of patients.El propósito de este trabajo es presentar un resumen del estado actual de mis pro- puestas sobre el tema la salud y la enfermedad, la discusión y las implicaciones que éstas tienen en los diferentes aspectos de la práctica médica.Necesariamente habré de referirme a los diferentes textos escritos al respecto, por lo cual acá no se presentará sino un resumen de aquéllos, como base para desarrollar algunos conceptos que constituyen lo que podríamos llamar los últimos aportes, de reciente publicación y otros aún inéditos.Dos corrrientes podemos diferenciar a groso modo, en el campo de la medicina social; la una implícitamente acepta el concepto de salud y el de enfermedad, en cuanto a definición básica y conjunto de diagnósticos y que ha venido trabajando por el lado de ampliar o modificar la explicación de la enfermedad, apoyándose en los factores sociales y su influencia determinante en la conformación de los perfiles de Presentado en Taller Latinoamericano de Medicina Social, Medellín, julio 27-31, 198

No full textDue to a series of problems that were not overcome in a timely manner, our journal was not published between 1989 and the present date. The current administration, responsible for the direction of the faculty, would like to ask the subscribers, the institutions that exchange the journal and all the readers who have been receiving it, for their understanding of the decision that the journal's steering committee has adopted by adjusting this issue to the current date, and to inform them that this is the end of a stage of this organ of diffusion of our academic institution. Consequently, this year we will begin a new stage in the life of the journal, reorganizing its editorial committee, appointing a scientific director and modifying its format, as well as its cover.Debido a una serie de problemas que no fueron superados oportunamente, nuestra revista no fue editada durante el periodo comprendido entre 1989 y la fecha presente. La actual administración, responsable de la dirección de la facultad, quiere solicitar a los suscriptores, a las instituciones que intercambian la revista y a todos los lectores que venían recibiendo la misma, su comprensión ante la decisión que el comité directivo de la revista ha adoptado al acomodar este número a la fecha actual, y comunicarles que con él se cierra una etapa de este órgano de difusión de nuestra institución académica. No full textThe economic success of East Asian countries has been linked to their capacity to attract Foreign Direct Investment. In a globalized world in which FDI plays a decisive role in the development and modernization process of a country, as has been seen in the Asian case, it is worth wondering about the causes that explain the attraction of FDI to a country. This paper analyzes the impact of economic freedom and institutional quality on a country's ability to attract FDI. Based on the indexes provided by Heritage Foundation and the World Bank, new synthetic indexes are constructed for each variable and their impact on inward FDI is tested for a sample of 187 countries and territories using panel data estimation. The results show the importance of economic policy, and not merely institutional, in the economic success of countriesEl éxito económico de los países de Asia Oriental ha estado en buena parte ligado a su capacidad de atraer Inversión Extranjera Directa (IED). En un entorno globalizado en el que la IED juega un papel determinante en el proceso de desarrollo y modernización de una economía, como se ha visto en el caso asiático, cabe preguntarse por las causas que explican la atracción de IED a un país. En el presente trabajo se analiza el impacto que tienen la libertad económica y la calidad institucional en la IED. A partir de los índices proporcionados por Heritage Foundation y el Banco Mundial, se elaboran nuevos índices sintéticos para cada variable y se comprueba su impacto en la IED inward para una muestra de 187 países y territorios mediante la estimación con datos panel. Los resultados muestran la importancia de la política económica, y no meramente institucional, en el éxito económico de los países.La réussite économique des pays d'Asie de l'Est est largement liée à leur capacité à attirer les investissements directs étrangers (IDE). Dans un environnement mondialisé où les IDE jouent un rôle décisif dans le processus de développement et de modernisation d'une économie, comme cela a été le cas en Asie, il convient de s'interroger sur les causes qui expliquent l'attraction des IDE vers un pays. Ce document analyse l'impact de la liberté économique et de la qualité institutionnelle sur les IDE. Quinoa malt and blueberry functional beverage: effect of malting and consumer sensory evaluation
No full textBackground: Consumers are looking for functional, natural products, valuing minimally processed, additive-free foods that include ancestral crops such as quinoa for their sustainability, nutritional quality and cultural connection.
Objective: to evaluate the influence of processing on the antioxidant capacity and total phenolic compounds and consumer liking of a functional beverage based on quinoa malt (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) and blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) pulp.
Methods: Total phenolic compounds (TPC) were determined by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UV-Vis). The antioxidant capacity was determined by the 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) and 2,2-diphenyl1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) methods were applied. Consumer liking level was determined using a five-point verbal scale on 86 untrained evaluators.
Results: The mixture design was employed with minimum-maximum constraints to obtain the optimized beverage formulation based on the blend of three types of quinoa malt [black quinoa malt (BQM), red quinoa malt (RQM), and white quinoa malt (WQM)]. The response variables were antioxidant activity using the DPPH and ABTS methods. Each of the response variables was maximized and fitted to the quadratic regression model. The optimum formula had 70% black quinoa malt (BQM), 20% red quinoa malt (RQM) and 10% white quinoa malt (WQM). Antioxidant capacity increased from stage to stage from 45.11 ± 0.26 µg TE/g in sprouted quinoa (SQ) to 767.55 ± 4.94 µg TE/g in quinoa malt-based beverage with the inclusion of blueberry pulp (QMB) using the DPPH method and from 271.64 ± 1.23 µg TE/g in SQ to 834.32 ± 2.14 µg TE/g in QMB using the ABTS method. The sensory evaluators rated QMB between "good" and "super good" according to the attributes of odor, color, taste and appearance, evaluated.
Conclusions: Quinoa malting and fruit addition significantly influenced the antioxidant capacity and total phenolic compounds. Furthermore, the sensory characteristics of the beverage were described within the range of "good" to "super good" in the evaluated attributes

No full textThe daily life of the indigenous women of the Awá people has been marked by multiple obstacles to the effective enjoyment of their rights, due to the overlapping of factors associated with sexism, racism and impoverishment, in addition to the enormous structural inequalities and the consequences of a war conflagration that has raged in its territory for decades.For some decades now, Awá women, organized through the Counseling of Women and Family, have developed a series of proposals to process the various situations of abuse they experience. This article reflects on the impact that the political demands of women intend to have on the way in which conflicts associated with gender violence are processed, which allows us to account for the dual nature of the right, which although it has contributed to create subalternized roles and categories, it also embodies a tool that allows the rearrangement of relationships in a certain community, based on the claims and demands of social actors, in this case, indigenous women.La cotidianidad de las mujeres indígenas del pueblo Awá, ha estado signada por múltiples obstáculos para el goce efectivo de sus derechos, debido a la imbricación de factores asociados al sexismo, racismo y el empobrecimiento, además de las enormes desigualdades estructurales y las secuelas de una conflagración bélica que se ha ensañado en su territorio durante décadas.
Desde hace algunos lustros, las mujeres Awá, organizadas a través de la Consejería de Mujer y Familia, han desarrollado una serie de propuestas para tramitar las diversas situaciones de maltrato que experimentan. El presente artículo reflexiona en torno al impacto que las demandas políticas de las mujeres pretenden ejercer sobre la forma en la que se tramitan los conflictos asociados a la violencia de género, al interior de la justicia propia, lo que permite dar cuenta del carácter dual del derecho, que si bien ha contribuido a crear roles y categorías subalternizadas, también encarna una herramienta que permite la reacomodación de las relaciones en determinada comunidad, a partir de los reclamos y reivindicaciones de los actores sociales, en este caso, las mujeres indígenas.A cotidianidade das mulheres indígenas do povo Awá tem sido marcada por múltiplos obstáculos para o gozo efetivo de seus direitos, devido à imbricação de fatores associados ao sexismo, racismo e empobrecimento, além das enormes desigualdades estruturais e das sequelas de uma conflagração bélica que tem se alastrado em seu território por décadas.Há algumas décadas, as mulheres Awá, organizadas através da Assessoria de Mulher e Família, têm desenvolvido uma série de propostas para lidar com as diversas situações de maus-tratos que experimentam. O presente artigo reflete sobre o impacto que as demandas políticas das mulheres pretendem exercer sobre a forma como são tramitados os conflitos associados à violência de gênero, no âmbito da justiça própria. A Adaptação às Mudanças Climáticas: Noções e Abordagens a Partir da Perspectiva Jurídica e Institucional
No full textThe chronological tracing of the notion of climate change adaptation, as condensed in various international legal instruments and their technical annexes, reveals that it is a dynamic concept with an unfinished evolution, influenced by scientific perspectives as well as geopolitical tensions. To delineate this evolution of approaches surrounding the idea of adaptation, the methodology employed in this work was based on a review of transnational normative sources emerging from the UNFCCC; and, in a second stage, on scientific articles that aim to develop these normatively birthed concepts. This study aims to answer the following questions: How has the notion of climate change adaptation evolved in international legal instruments, and what are the main influences and tensions that have affected its development and definition according to existing literature? What is understood as the entity tasked with undertaking adaptation measures, and in response to which phenomena?
The findings indicate a lack of consensus regarding the definition of climate change adaptation, present since its very emergence on the international scene. Likewise, there are attempts to address these shortcomings through the structuring of legal tools that mitigate the ongoing uncertainty still present in the exact sciences, as well as the growing tendency to enrich the concept from the social sciencesEl rastreo cronológico en torno a la noción de adaptación al cambio climático condensada en los diversos instrumentos jurídicos internacionales y sus anexos técnicos, evidencia que se trata de un concepto dinámico con una evolución no acabada, en la cual influyen desde perspectivas científicas hasta tensiones geopolíticas. Para delimitar esa evolución de enfoques mantenidos en torno a la idea de adaptación, la metodología empleada en este trabajo se basó en una revisión de fuentes normativas trasnacionales surgidas desde la CMNUCC; y, en un segundo momento, en artículos científicos, que pretenden desarrollar esos conceptos de nacimiento normativo; pretendiendo así responder los siguientes interrogantes: ¿Cómo ha evolucionado la noción de adaptación al cambio climático en los instrumentos jurídicos internacionales y cuáles son las principales influencias y tensiones que han afectado su desarrollo y definición según la literatura existente? ¿Qué se entiende hoy día como sujeto llamado a emprender medidas de adaptación y ante qué fenómenos?
Los hallazgos señalan la ausencia de consenso en torno a la definición de la adaptación al cambio climático, presente desde su surgimiento mismo en la escena internacional; de igual manera, algunos intentos de suplir dichas carencias en torno a la estructuración de herramientas jurídicas que solventen la incertidumbre todavía presente en las ciencias exactas, así como la tendencia, cada vez más fuerte, a nutrir el concepto desde las ciencias sociales.O artigo propõe uma abordagem crítica do direito a partir da perspectiva dos Critical Legal Studies (CLS), com o objetivo de evidenciar a carga ideológica presente nas formas jurídicas técnicas e seus efeitos na realidade social. Parte-se das contribuições do realismo jurídico norte-americano e apresenta-se uma versão moderada dos CLS, que concebe o direito como uma prática discursiva em disputa, moldando a percepção e a reprodução do social. Analisa-se a categoria de consciência jurídica em sua relação com a ideologia e sob a tese da autonomia relativa do direito, destacando seus efeitos constitutivos, distributivos e legitimadores. Também são delineadas ferramentas da análise ideológica crítica, como a genealogia, a demolição e a desconstrução. Por fim, abordam-se as críticas mais relevantes aos CLS, apontando seus êxitos e limitações
