This article offers a critical survey of the history of the formation of central banks in Latin America and its reactions to the Great Depression, including a section on important antecedents. It is argued that central banks arose in Latin America from 1923 onwards as a result of particular political, economic and financial conjunctures in each nation in the hemisphere, but the text also proposes a comparative analysis to establish parallels and contrasts. The essay begins with a review of the historical background regarding the monetary policies of the early twentieth century in the region and the role of the largest banks before the formation of central banks. The essay then reviews the forces that led to the formation of central banks in the 1920s and compares them with those in place in the aftermath of the crisis. We emphasize the role of the so-called "money doctors" and that of the great depression as factors that shaped the functions of Latin American central banks during their early existence.
Undervalued tuna meat (Thunus obesus and Katsuwonus pelamis lineaus) to develop sausages
Background: The tuna industry is one of the most essential sectors in global food production. Nevertheless, commercial meat known as "tuna loin" holds the utmost significance in producing and marketing its various products. Regrettably, fractions like tail and head meat have been overlooked and wasted due to their comparatively lower commercial value. Despite possessing notable technological value, this meat is typically reutilized into animal feed through flour production, missing the chance to create alternative high-value food products. Objective: This study aimed to develop and evaluate the sausages produced with the underutilized cuts of tuna (tail and head meat). Methods: The tuna utilized were Big-eye (Thunus obesus) and Skip-jack (Katsuwonus pelamis lineaus). Three (3) different types of sausages were formulated using 100% of Big-eye (BE), 100% of Skip-jack (SJ) tuna meat, and 100% of beef/pork meat (Control). The sausage pH changes during storage at 4 ± 1oC were analyzed and compared with the control. Proximal, microbiological, and sensory characteristics were evaluated. Results: The pH of sausages showed that the values tended to decrease in control, while this value increased in two types of tuna. The formulated tuna sausages yielded 72% moisture, 18% protein, 4.1% lipid, 0.4% ash, 0.4 % fiber, and 4.5% carbohydrates. Sensory attributes showed excellent acceptance regarding color, smell, flavor, and texture. Overall acceptability was qualified as "liked," and the acceptability index ranged from 76% to 86%. During the refrigeration storage, the microbiological analyses indicated that the total coliform count was < 3 CFU/g. Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and mesophilic aerobic bacteria in tuna sausage showed absence during 24 days of storage. Conclusion: Using tuna tail and head meat enabled the development of gel-type emulsified products (sausages) that exhibited good nutritional, sensory, and microbiological quality
Currently, the global context has a set of theories and schools of law from different contexts. Some of these contexts are considered as theoretical production sites and others as reception sites, for which reason there are those who propose JUS theories and others who accept them as a consequence of a transnational process. This process of interaction between different sites is known as the JUS theoric transplant, which raises the possibility of facing textual, extratextual and metatextual elements from the different sites involved in the process. As a consequence of this interaction, the reception sites generate mutations of the theories built in the production sites and this is called misreading. Although for the producers the mutation has a negative scope, for the receivers it may be in itself a new theory.
The three prophecies that tell the story of Hikaru Genji’s destiny in The Tale of Genji come true thanks to his relationship with Fujitsubo and the Akashi clan, but the realization of these prophecies is inseparably connected to the consciousness of the sukuse (destiny). This article examines how the word sukuse participates in the history of Fujitsubo and the Akashi clans, and how it carries over to the history of Hikaru Genji, deciphering the context. This article is an attempt to decipher the structure of the grand story of Hikaru Genji’s rise to fame realized through his relationship with the princess, using the word sukuse as a clue
La poesía de viaje: Wounded Water/Agua Herida (2004), de Anabel Torres
In this article, we analyze the bilingual poetry collection Wounded Water / Agua herida (2004), by the Colombian Anabel Torres (1948), from the perspective of travel poetry. Being a category non frequently studied, we began by establishing the bases of the genre «travel books» (to which belongs this type of poems). Later, we studied poems marked by the emotions of the subject. At the other end, we found poems focused on the place of travel. We conclude with the evaluation of the book of poems as an original sample of travel diary that shows the possibilities of our approach to reading.
