In university teaching of human figure drawing nowadays, some learning methodologies and study works inherited from classical training are used. However, these do not always connect with today's students, who are subject to a complex reality resulting from the overstimulation produced by social media, which in turn affects their ability to concentrate, manage frustration and continuity in learning. Therefore, students may find this frustration through the repetition of exercises without knowing the specific objectives of each one of them. Given this reality, we believe that it is necessary to reconsider the teaching methodology in the teaching of human figure drawing. For this reason, we are going to propose a teaching of the human figure drawing approach consisting of three phases: deepening in the basics of human figure drawing, study of human anatomy, and drawing of the human figure from memory. For this we will use real examples obtained at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).En la enseñanza universitaria del dibujo de figura humana actual se utilizan metodologías de aprendizaje y trabajos de estudios heredados de la formación clásica.

Use of dehydrated sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia) in rabbit feeding. 2 - Effects of a high dietary incorporation on performance and health of does and growing rabbits, under a sub-optimal breeding commercial environment

    Get PDF
The effects of a high dietary (26%) incorporation of dehydrated sainfoin (DS) (Perly cultivar) on the performance and health of reproductive does and growing rabbits were analysed in a sub-optimal professional breeding environment (presenting previous coccidiosis), and over two non-consecutive reproductive cycles (2 replicates). Performance and health of does and growing rabbits were compared for 2 groups of 194 does and associated litters, when fed isonutritive feeds containing either 0 or 26% DS (DS0 and DS26 groups). Dietary DS incorporation had no effect on doe live weight, fertility rate, mortality, culling rate and doe coccidia excretion levels (P>0.05). In replicate 1, kit growth before weaning was similar among the two groups, but was 12% lower for the DS26 group in the 2nd replicate (significant interaction). Similarly, a significant interaction was detected between the effect of the diet and the replicate for the mortality rate of kits before weaning, i.e. a higher mortality was detected for DS26 (3.3 vs. 1.8%) in replicate 1, while in replicate 2 it was lower (2.1 vs. 4.4%). After weaning, the post-weaning growth rate was improved by 4% (P=0.02) for the DS26 group, while the mortality rate decreased (7.1 vs. 4.5%, P<0.001). Coccidia excretions of growing rabbits were not affected by dietary sainfoin or by replicates. A high incorporation of DS (26%) should be recommended after weaning to improve the performance of growing rabbits without impact on reproducing does

Pastured rabbit systems and organic certification: European union regulations and technical and economic performance in France

    Get PDF
In the European Union (EU), organic rabbit farming (ORF) remains uncommon (≈50 farms), found mainly in France, and to a much lesser extent in Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Italy. As rabbits are herbivorous, ORF is based mainly on grazing. This review summarises information on the functioning and performance of rabbit farming systems in France, with organic certification and/or access to pasture. Recent studies have quantified the grass intake (30 to 80 g dry matter/d/rabbit) and growth rate of rabbits on pasture (15 to 30 g/d). ORF has an extensive production cycle with a mean of 2.7 parturitions per doe and per year. The main concerns for the farmers developing ORF include available land and managing health and feeding. However, in France, a herd with 40 does on 4 ha (of pastures and complementary crops), can provide a halftime minimum salary. Since January 2022, a new regulation on ORF is applied for all EU member countries that recommends a maximum use of pasture but nevertheless allows farmers to keep a herd with 40 does on only 200 m² of pasture. It also does not require rotating rabbits on the pasture between batches of animals, wich increases the risk of parasitism. A smartphone application (GAELA) was recently developed to assist with daily management of rabbit farming, and to build a database of technical benchmarks to support the development of organic and pastured rabbit farming in France

AgwA: la impaciencia de la obra

Through both their practice and research projects, AgwA offers us a fascinating exploration of practice. Over the years, their work has increasingly shown traces of our most crucial contemporary questions. It has also borne witness to a desire to broaden the field of architecture, seeing it as a moment when all things come into contact. Today, AgwA is often engaged in partnerships with international offices, a development that marks the second shift of the Belgian architectural scene: policies to regulate architectural quality have been consolidated, competitions are on the increase, and teams are more and more interdisciplinary and international. BAST, architecten jan de vylder inge vinck, 6a, Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen, Caractère Spécial and Dogma are all in AgwA’s address book, and they have worked alongside them on increasingly important projects. Among these, as always, a set of some unrewarding and singular heritage buildings, projects that reflect the profound transformation of our relationship to heritage and the value of buildings. Other ventures have led them to a number of competitions in France, to memorial sites in El Salvador, and to China for an embassy. But at bottom AgwA remains strongly attached to Belgium. Keen on commissions and unable to say “thanks, but no thanks,” they are now engaged in a number of exciting projects. As eager as ever to build.

The artisanal technique of "barniz de Pasto" (Pasto varnish) in Colombia is an example of an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) that requires urgent safeguarding processes due to a number of factors, including weakened practices, disrupted transmission, and environmental deterioration. The term "Pasto varnish" refers to an ancient artistic tradition from southern Colombia, which was designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) by UNESCO in 2020. This technique entails the decoration of diverse surfaces, including metal and wood, through the application of a thin, malleable film of natural resin derived from the mopa-mopa shrub (Elaeagia pastoensis L.E. Mora), which exhibits the capacity to adhere to a range of surfaces. This article presents the results of the 3D virtualization process of 22 heritage pieces from this technique, which are exhibited on the Virtual Pasto Varnish (VPV) website. The construction of this website entailed the implementation of three domains of virtualization: (i) 3D Documentation, wherein data pertinent to the heritage were collated; (ii) 3D Representation, wherein 3D material corresponding to the heritage artifact was created; and (iii) 3D Dissemination, which facilitated the dissemination and conservation of the 3D data. The results of this project demonstrate that virtual heritage can serve as a collaborative instrument for the integration, safeguarding, and promotion of research on ICH through the data, paradata, and metadata obtained during the 3D virtualization process. This article puts forth the proposition that virtual heritage makes significant contributions to ICH, particularly in regard to the continual recreation of living heritage through self-recognition, the dynamic conservation of its artifacts, and the contextualized research of its data. It can be concluded that for ICH materialized in artifacts—such as the case of Pasto varnish—virtual heritage becomes an important preservation tool when tradition bearers can be actively engaged in the process of "reviving the aura" of the heritage data.

Ensuring cognitive accessibility in schools is a significant benefit for the entire educational community at large, and it is crucial for the educational inclusion of students with sensory impairments and executive function difficulties. Given its importance, this paper presents a training proposal that addresses cognitive accessibility with pre-service special education specialists through a service-learning experience. Specifically, 39 pre-service teachers assessed the cognitive accessibility in school environments. To accomplish this, the students reached out to early childhood and primary schools and conducted an evaluation of their cognitive accessibility, and then they designed a set of improvement proposals that were conveyed to schools. This study used an ad hoc questionnaire to collect student feedback on this training proposal, consisting of nine Likert-type items and two open-ended questions. The results suggest that participants positively evaluated the experience, reporting a significant increase in their knowledge of cognitive accessibility and a high level of motivation throughout the experience. Furthermore, from the students’ perspective, the schools benefited from the experience and actively collaborated with them. Participants also pointed out some challenges related to the service-learning methodology and cognitive accessibility itself.

    Get PDF
Grammar teaching is in need of more innovative approaches to increase students’ motivation when learning this skill, for example, through more informal genres. This study seeks to determine university students’ perceptions of memes (an informal genre) as a tool to consolidate grammar learning in the foreign language classroom. For a semester, 74 students from the Early Childhood and Primary Education degrees participated in a gamified experience in which memes were used as a complement to Just-in-Time Teaching (JiTT). Students chose (rounds 1 and 2) or created (round 3) memes related to the grammar topics previously dealt with in class following the JiTT approach. In each round, the teachers uploaded the memes onto an Instagram account, and asked participants to vote for the best one, being able to obtain short- and long-term prizes as a result. At the end of the experience, a questionnaire was distributed to learn about students’ perceptions of gamification and the use of memes as a tool to consolidate grammar knowledge. Results reveal that students valued the experience positively, considering it fun and motivating as well as a good complement to the JiTT approach.
