South and South-West Asia Development Monitor No. 23
The Development Monitor is a bimonthly electronic newsletter, launched in early 2012 (issued on a monthly basis initially), which provides an overview of the work and activities undertaken by the ESCAP South and South-West Asia Office and conferences and knowledge products of relevance to the subregion. The newsletter also provides a compilation of news and articles on themes covered by the ESCAP SSWA work programme.
A High-level Seminar “Future of the World Economy and Globalization in the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis: Implications for Developing Economies”, organized by ESCAP-SSWA Office on 14 January brought together award-winning economists and development experts, including Nobel Laureate Prof. Joseph Stiglitz; former UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, Prof. Jose Antonio Ocampo; President of the Fung Global Institute Dr. Andrew Sheng; and Prof. Kevin Gallagher

The South and South-West Asia Office of ESCAP is leading the preparation of a flagship report of the United Nations Country Team in India focusing on the country’s progress on the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals, across different states and indicators, and ways to accelerate progress in areas where it is most lagging during the 2014-2015 period. Only two years remain before the 2015 deadline set by the international community to achieve the goals expires. The report is scheduled for release in late 201
Business incubators for sustainable development in the SPECA subregion : UNECE policy handbook
This Handbook aims to guide policymakers in the SPECA countries, step-by-step, through the process of setting up, running, and evaluating business incubators to support entrepreneurship and catalyse innovation-led growth. The Handbook is an important part of UNECE support to the SPECA countries to improve their innovation policies and achieve sustainable development in the framework of the United Nations Development Account project "Strengthening innovation policies for SPECA countries in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", carried out jointly with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)
