Get PDFapplication/pdf論文(Article)In this case, SEI CREST Co., Ltd suffered enormous damages by a representative director’s repeated breaches of the duty of care. The company bankrupted and claimed outside auditor. The legal bases of claims are breaches of recommendation obligations (to recommend to construct internal control systems and to dismiss the CEO). The Osaka High Court applied the contract for limitation of liability and partly admitted the responsibility of the auditor (Article 423 and 427 Companies Act). However, this study opposes the decision. According to the research, the obligations are imposed by contracts, however, contents of obligations are too vague to be forced.departmental bulletin pape
Difficulties in Translating Natsume Soseki’s Kokoro into English : A Look at the Translation by Meredith McKinney
Get PDFapplication/pdf論文(Article)Three English translations of Natsume Soseki’s Kokoro,written in 1914,have been published:the first by Ineko Sato in 1941,a second by Edwin McClellan in 1957,and the most recent by Meredith McKinney in 2010. This paper looks at McKinney’s translation and discusses how sentences that contain cultural background unique to Japan are treated in translation. Different communication styles resulting from differences in the cultural background between the Japanese and English languages are apparent in a variety of situations, but this paper focuses specifically on passages where a nuance in the Japanese original is translated into English in a entirely different form, and explores the background of these cases.departmental bulletin pape
Development of a Career Self-Assessment Scale for Elderly Retired
Get PDFapplication/pdf論文(Article)To secure the labor force in Japan, participation of elderly persons in the labor market is important. However, there are few career self-assessment scales for elderly retired persons. The purpose of this study was to develop a self-assessment scale for elderly retired persons to measure the following: ⑴ value for the future role in life, ⑵ perception of basic job ability, and ⑶ requirements of the next job. Self-report data were collected from 160 elderly retired persons. Factor analysis indicated that “value for the future role in life” consisted of 4 factors, “perception of basic job ability” consisted of 4 factors, and “requirements of the next job” consisted of 3 factors. Finally, correlations between the 11 factors were examined. Based on these results, it is suggested that three subscales be used to assess work values among elderly retired persons.departmental bulletin pape
Evaluation of Biochemical Oxygen Demand for Wastewater Based on
Get PDFapplication/pdf論文(Article)A mediated biochemical oxygen demand (BOD)sensor system of flow injection mode was constructed by employing carrier solution containing potassium hexacyanoferrate (III) as a redox mediator. An electrochemical flow cell of three electrodes configuration was developed, in which a gelatin layer containing wastewater-assimilating microbes was deposited on the working electrode. The output current was confirmed to yield a peak with a sample injection, and to result from reoxidation of reduced mediator at the electrode. By employing the peak area as the sensor response,the initial assimilation rate was estimated from the dependence of sensor response on the flow rate of carrier solution. It was demonstrated that reasonable BOD could be obtained for the distillate of a Japanese liquor shochu used as a high BOD wastewater sample.departmental bulletin pape
