Study of Needle Lift Behavior of Diesel Injector
application/pdfUsing an injector with a lift sensor, the needle valve openings during injection were measured. Injection with different maximum needle valve openings was achieved by varying the injection signal to injector. A laser 2-focus velocimeter (L2F) was used for measurements of velocity and size of droplets inside diesel sprays intermittently injected into the atmosphere by using 8-hole injector nozzle. The diameter of the nozzle orifice was 0.125mm. The rail pressure was set at 40 MPa. Measurement plane was located at 7 mm downstream from the nozzle exit. The spray image was taken by the high-speed camera, and the spray width was evaluated by using spray image. The spray width at low maximum needle valve opening was wider than those at high maximum needle valve opening. Droplet velocity is lower and droplet size is smaller at low than at high maximum needle valve opening. Radial distances of measurement position were nondimensionalized by maximum spray width. The effect of the maximum needle valve opening on droplet velocity and size were small at the spray periphery.論文(Atticle)departmental bulletin pape

Development of the Multicellular Spheroid Formation System for Regenerative Medicine
application/pdfIn the production of vascular and cardiac cell constructs, the use of the multicellular spheroids with mixture of fibroblasts and endothelial cells has been found to be effective. It is necessary to suppress variation factors that occur from human operation by using automation, improving data accuracy, and obtaining reproducible spheroids. Therefore, the aim of this study was to develop a multicellular spheroid formation system for the fabrication of cell structures for regenerative medicine. A report on the promotion video production contest between FIT and KMITL - The 1st Cross-Education Project 2020 -
applicationThe 2020 1st cross-education project, which was performed between Fukuoka Institute of technology (FIT) and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) Thailand, is reported in this paper. In this project, 10 FIT students and 34 KMITL students participated and created the promotion video for each other’s universities, where the promotional video was produced by a mixed team of Japanese and Thai. Development of High-Thermal-Conductivity Silicon Nitride using Rare-Earth Silicide as Oxygen Getter
application/pdfThe Silicon Nitride (Si₃N₄) has drawn much attention as electrical substate materials for power module. One of the factors that decrease the thermal conductivity of Si3N4 is phonon scattering caused by the lattice oxygen. Yttrium disilicide (YSi₂) is expected to act as an effective oxygen getter that would actively remove impurity oxygen contained in the raw materials and further added during processing. It was found that the addition of YSi₂ significantly inhibited the phase transformation and densification, which would suggest that YSi₂ effectively acted as an oxygen getter to decrease the SiO₂ content, and hence the amount of the liquid phase. Although the thermal conductivities of gas-pressure sintered Si₃N₄ were improved with increasing the amount of YSi₂, those of reaction-bonded Si₃N₄ were significantly deteriorated due to their much smaller grain size.論文(Atticle)departmental bulletin pape

Ultra-Realistic Japanese Traditional Craft System using Mixed Reality Technology
application/pdfIn this study, we implemented a ultra-realistic Japanese traditional craft system using mixed reality technology. By using this system, the user can place any traditional craft object on the MR space. When placing a traditional craft object in MR space, the user marks spherical pointers by using the HandRay function. This calculates the center coordinates, distance, and placement angle between the two markers. Furthermore, the traditional craft object is placed in the MR space by calculating the coordinates and distance from the floor to the upper part of the door frame.
