Artificial intelligence as a support tool for corpus query formulation
Die Bedeutung von Korpusarbeit und korpuslinguistischen Methoden nimmt in der linguistischen Forschung und im DaF-Unterricht stetig zu, da sie eine umfassende und systematische Analyse sprachlicher Phänomene ermöglichen. Häufig arbeiten Forscherinnen und Forscher dabei mit einer Vielzahl von Korpora, die unterschiedliche Datensätze und Strukturen aufweisen. Eine zentrale Herausforderung besteht in der Vielfalt der jeweils eingesetzten Abfragesysteme. Diese sind oft komplex und heterogen, sodass ein erheblicher Zeitaufwand erforderlich ist, um ihre Funktionsweise zu verstehen und sie effektiv zu nutzen. Die damit verbundene Vielfalt kann die Suche nach spezifischen sprachlichen Mustern oder Phänomenen sowohl für erfahrene Nutzerinnen und Nutzer als auch für Anfängerinnen und Anfänger erschweren und frustrierend machen, da umfangreiche Einarbeitungszeiten in die jeweiligen Abfragesprachen notwendig sind. Angesichts dieser Herausforderungen kann die Integration von KI als Werkzeug zur Formulierung von Suchanfragen in Korpora künftig eine entscheidende Rolle spielen.Vor diesem Hintergrund untersucht der vorliegende empirische Beitrag das Potenzial KI-gestützter Systeme zur Formulierung Suchanfragen in COSMAS II. Grundlage der Untersuchung bilden 50 typische korpuslinguistische Suchaufgaben unterschiedlicher Art, die von unerfahrenen Nutzerinnen und Nutzern ohne computerlinguistische Vorkenntnisse formuliert werden. Die KI-generierten Abfragen werden hinsichtlich ihrer formalen Korrektheit, Präzision und Funktionalität analysiert.Methodisch basiert die Studie auf einer qualitativen Auswertung der Abfrageergebnisse. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, unter welchen Bedingungen KI als unterstützendes Werkzeug bei der Korpusabfrage eingesetzt werden kann und wo ihre Grenzen liegen. Darüber hinaus wird diskutiert, welche Informationen der KI zur Verfügung stehen müssen, um korpuslinguistische Suchprozesse effektiv zu unterstützen.The importance of corpus work and corpus-linguistic methods is steadily increasing in linguistic research and in the field of German as a Foreign Language (GFL), as they enable a comprehensive and systematic analysis of linguistic phenomena. Researchers often work with a large number of corpora that differ in their datasets and structures. One challenge in this work, however, is the diversity of query systems used across individual corpora. These systems can be complex and heterogeneous, which often requires a considerable amount of time to understand their functionality and use them effectively. This diversity can make the search for specific linguistic patterns or phenomena difficult and frustrating for both experienced users and beginners, as a great deal of time must be spent familiarizing oneself with the particularities of individual query systems. In response to these challenges, the integration of AI as a tool for formulating search queries in corpora may play a decisive role in the future.In this context, the present empirical contribution examines the potential of AI-supported systems for formulating complex search queries in COSMAS II. The study draws on 50 typical corpus-linguistic search tasks of different types, formulated by inexperienced users without prior knowledge of computational linguistics. The AI-generated queries are analyzed with regard to their formal correctness, precision, and functionality.Methodologically, the study is based on a qualitative analysis of the query results. The results indicate the conditions under which AI can be used as a supportive tool in corpus querying and where its limitations lie. The contribution also discusses what information needs to be available to the AI in order to effectively support corpus-linguistic search processes
Does Fintech Usage Alter the Relationships Between Financial Literacy, Behaviour and Well-Being? Evidence from India
The emergence of fintech has rapidly transformed the way people manage their finances, yet its impact on personal financial outcomes remains relatively understudied. This study aims to examine how fintech usage (FTU) influences the relationship between financial literacy (FL) and financial well-being (FWB) through financial behaviour (FB) using a moderated mediation model. Using a proprietary dataset, the hypothesised relationships are analysed applying the PROCESS macro in IBM SPSS Statistics. The analysis reveals that FB is a partial mediator in the FL-FWB equation, while FTU negatively moderates the relationship between FL and FB. However, FTU does not significantly moderate the relationship between FL and FWB. The findings carry significant implications for policymakers and fintech service providers. Policymakers should strive to include a digital literacy component in financial education programs to better equip individuals to navigate today’s digitalised society, while fintech companies should focus on designing products that complement users’ FL and facilitate the adoption of financially healthy behaviours

In keeping with the scholarly traditions of Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty, the 19th “Prof. Vladas Gronskas International Scientific Conference” was held in November 2024. This international conference is an arena for cooperation and scholarly fellowship, with young researchers, bachelor, master, and doctoral students from Lithuania as well as Latvia, Turkey, Bulgaria, participating in the different conference sections.
The main goal of this scientific gathering has always been to contribute to a reliable, safe, effective, and sustainable economy and business development. Thus, the organizing committee strives to create a suitable platform for well‐grounded and open discussion where young researchers have the opportunity to present and share their insights.
Encouraging entrepreneurship is a crucial condition for economic growth, and this puts forward a new approach to business, creativity, value creation, and the implementation of innovations. It is precisely in this context that business and science should interact. To reinforce this relevant bond, the guest speakers of the plenary session were selected amongst scientists and experienced practitioners – Prof. Vlado Dimovski (Distinguished expert in management and organizational theory at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics, Slovenia), Stepas Telešius (Co-founder, shareholder and board member of ACME Grupė and Chairman of the Board of “Vesta Consulting”, a sustainable business consultancy, Lithuania), Edgaras Abromavičius (Head of esports and games of the Lithuanian Football Federation, working on projects together with UEFA, FIFA and other international organizations, Lithuania). This conference encourages internationalization and closer cooperation between science and business. Hopefully, there has been some useful takeaway for both academia and business conference participants: new insights and inspirations for further scientific research
The Influence of Digital Advertising on Financial Service Purchase Intentions: The Role of Consumer Emotions and Trust Theoretical Model
The influence of digital advertising on financial service purchase intentions, mediated by consumer emotions and trust, is crucial in today’s digital landscape. Intense online competition requires financial service providers to understand digital advertising, emotions and trust impact on consumer intentions. The purpose of this study is to introduce this conceptual model, illustrating how digital advertising, viewed through message and source characteristics, impacts purchase intentions via consumer emotions and trust. Drawing on the RAIA model, the study conceptualises the consumer intention journey in the digital space, acknowledging the evolving information adoption landscape. The model differentiates between fear and greed as instantaneous emotional responses to advertising, rather than inherent consumer traits. Furthermore, it distinguishes mistrust as a separate construct from low trust, highlighting its significant impact on purchase intentions. The findings offer practical implications for marketers, researchers, and financial institutions seeking to develop effective digital advertising strategies grounded in the RAIA framework
Neįprastas žymėtumas: tarpkalbinė stilistinio išryškinimo analizė Virginios Woolf apsakyme „Žymė ant sienos“ ir jo vertime į albanų kalbą
This paper investigates how foregrounding is realized in Virginia Woolf’s The Mark on the Wall and its Albanian version Njolla në Mur (translated by Elvana Zaimi). Adopting a comparative stylistic approach, the study examines deviations at the graphological/phonological, lexicogrammatical, and semantic levels, identifying how these stylistic effects are preserved, transformed, or neutralized in translation. Close reading, supported by selective corpus insights, reveals a clear hierarchy of translatability: graphological and phonological foregrounding is the most vulnerable to change, lexicogrammatical markedness is largely maintained, and semantic foregrounding, especially metaphors and figurative patterns, shows the highest degree of preservation. The findings reveal that Woolf’s modernist style is partially reshaped in Albanian, with the translator prioritizing semantic fidelity and syntactic rhythm over sound-based or punctuation-driven effects. By analyzing a less studied language pair, the study contributes to a broader understanding of how modernist stylistic innovation travels across linguistic and cultural contexts.Šiame straipsnyje nagrinėjama, kaip išryškinami žymėtieji teksto elementai (foregrounding) Virginios Woolf apsakymo „Žymė ant sienos“ (The Mark on the Wall) vertime į albanų kalbą Njolla në Mur (vertė Elvana Zaimi). Pasitelkiant lyginamąjį stilistinį požiūrį, tyrime analizuojami nukrypimai nuo normos grafologiniame ir fonologiniame, leksikogramatiniame ir semantiniame lygmenyse, siekiant nustatyti, kaip šie stilistiniai efektai vertime yra išlaikomi, transformuojami ar neutralizuojami. Atidusis skaitymas, papildytas pasirinktais tekstyno duomenimis, atskleidžia aiškią išverčiamumo hierarchiją: grafologinis ir fonologinis išryškinimas yra labiausiai paveikus pokyčiams, leksikogramatinis žymėtumas dažniausiai išlieka, o semantinis išryškinimas, ypač metaforos ir vaizdiniai raiškos modeliai, pasižymi didžiausiu išlaikymo laipsniu. Rezultatai rodo, kad Woolf modernistinis stilius albaniškame variante iš dalies persiformuoja, vertėjai pirmenybę teikiant semantiniam tikslumui ir sintaksiniam ritmui, o ne garsiniams ar skyrybos ženklų kuriamiems efektams. Autorei analizuojant mažiau tyrinėtą kalbų porą, šis tyrimas prisideda prie platesnio supratimo apie tai, kaip modernistinė stilistinė inovacija perteikiama skirtinguose kalbiniuose ir kultūriniuose kontekstuose
A novel fractional operator-based model for Parkinson’s disease: Analyzing abnormal beta-oscillation and the influence of synaptic parameters
With the aggravation of the global aging trend, Parkinson’s disease has become a hot spot of scientific research all over the world. Abnormal β-oscillation in the basal ganglia region is considered to be a major inducement of Parkinson’s disease. In this paper, a new and more complete Parkinson’s model based on fractional operators is proposed to study the oscillation behavior of the basal ganglia region. The correctness of this new fractional model is validated by the simulation of Nambu and Tachibana’s experiment [A. Nambu, Y. Tachibana, Mechanism of parkinsonian neuronal oscillations in the primate basal ganglia: some considerations based on our recent work, Front. Syst. Neurosci., 8:74, 2014]. Then we carry out the Hopf bifurcation analysis of the fractional model and derive the critical conditions for periodic oscillation. The influence of important parameters on the oscillation behavior of the system is analyzed by numerical simulations. It is found that proper control of synaptic transmission delay and synaptic connection strength can improve the abnormal β-oscillation behavior in the basal ganglia region effectively. In addition, the fractional Parkinson’s model in this paper provides more flexibility for model fitting and parameter estimation. The choice of the fractional order α plays a crucial role in the analysis of system oscillation
Prescribed-time practical scaled consensus of multiagent systems via time-based generator approach
In this paper, we consider the leaderless and leader-following practical scaled consensus problems of multiagent systems (MASs). To achieve leaderless practical scaled consensus, a distributed control protocol is introduced that incorporates with an innovative time-based generator (TBG). Under this protocol, all agents achieve practical scaled consensus within the prescribed-time frame while providing a precise estimation of the practical error. To fulfill practical requirements, we devise two leader-following scaled consensus protocols for both directed detail-balanced graphs and general directed networks. Furthermore, a comprehensive analysis for the convergence of MASs is given by employing the Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed theoretical results are verified
