Knowledge, Perception and Attitude of Married Men towards Radio Health Messages on Family Planning
Radio has played a significant role in the spread of health information and continues to do so. Examples of the many campaigns that have benefited from radio include those against HIV and AIDS, immunisation campaigns, oral rehydration therapy, the fight against malaria, the Kick Polio Out campaign, the Wash Your Hand campaign during the August 2014 Ebola outbreak, the Family Planning Adoption Campaign as well as the campaign against the recent Covid-19 Pandemic. Hence, this study aims at finding out the knowledge, perception and attitude of married male employees in South-West, Nigeria, about family planning based on their exposure to Radio Health Messages on family planning. With three objectives and three research hypotheses, this study was anchored on Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). This study employed the cross-sectional survey research design with questionnaire as the instrument of data collection. Using Multi-stage sampling technique and Cochran formula of sample size calculation, six hundred and thirty-four (634) respondents were selected as the sample size across nine local government areas chosen in the south-western part of Nigeria. Findings shows that married men's perceptions and knowledge of family planning were significantly influenced by Family Planning Radio Health Messages, but not their attitudes towards the practice. Also, it was revealed that respondents were aware of family planning and its purposes, as well as some of the methods and how to apply them but they disagreed that family planning (FP) is beneficial for women who are still having children and that FP radio health messages are frequently directed towards men. As recommendation, Family Planning Radio Health Messages focus more on teaching the target audience on the various family planning methods available and ensure that Family Planning Radio Health Messages take a very descriptive approach, painting a mental picture and semblance of reality for simple understanding due to the visual disadvantage of radio. Also, Family Planning Radio Health Messages should be refocused to target men not just women alone since men have the headship position to make some decisions in many families in the south-western part of Nigeria.

A Critique of Females’ Representation in Àyìnlá Ọmọwúrà’s Songs
Our societies comprise of both male and female with individual playing their expected roles towards the successful growth of the society. Also, in our society, little respect or recognition is given to women based on the culture of the land. Some artists are also conversant in presenting the female as a second fiddle in the society. Therefore, it is on this note that this paper seeks to focus on the critique of females’ representation in Àyìnlá Ọmọwúrà’s song. The research methods involved appropriate and objective analysis of Àyìnlá Ọmọwúrà selected songs from the feminist perspective or point of few. This will assist to determine the effect of the selected songs on the females’ and its implication. At the end, this paper clearly shows and establish the fact that artist sincerely play on the intelligent of the females not minding whose ox is gored. Only the females are point or focus of attack in his song and failed to address the lapses of men who are the real causes of most of female’s accusation.

The Effects of Nigeria's Counter-Insurgency Strategy against Boko Haram on Human Security
For the past twenty years, the Nigerian state has been plagued by a variety of security issues and tensions, including civil unrest, ethno-religious violence and disturbances, youth restlessness, secession threats, militancy, terrorism, and insurgency, among others. Leading to counterinsurgency measures by the Nigerian state. The human security of the impacted communities in the northeast, however, has suffered as a result. It is on this note, therefore, that the study examined Nigeria’s counterinsurgency strategy against Boko Haram on human security. The study adopted the qualitative research method in gathering data. The paper argues that although Nigeria's counter-insurgency tactics against Boko Haram are effective from the start, they do not crush and eradicate the movement; rather, they encourage a resurgence of the movement with increasingly complex waves of armed violence against the government and its security forces, as well as egregious violations of human rights and implications for the safety of the civilian population. The study concludes that a long-term solution to these security issues is unlikely as long as these counter-insurgency tactics are the sole means of combating the Boko Haram insurgency. The paper suggests that the government should create policies and strategies to lessen and eliminate social problems by limiting the activities of Boko Haram members in the northeast, through border control.

Editorial
This issue of NIU Journal of Humanities touches on Development Administration as well as Language and Literary Studies.
The first part of the Journal focuses on Development Administration. Using Nigeria's Counter-Insurgency Strategy against Boko Haram as a case study, one of the papers in this section empirically argues that although Nigeria's counter-insurgency tactics against Boko Haram are effective from the start, they do not crush and eradicate the movement; rather, they encourage a resurgence of the movement with increasingly complex waves of armed violence against the government and its security forces, as well as egregious violations of human rights and implications for the safety of the civilian population. It is revealed that a long-term solution to these security issues is unlikely as long as these counter-insurgency tactics are the sole means of combating the Boko Haram insurgency. It is, therefore, recommended that the government should create policies and strategies to lessen and eliminate social problems by limiting the activities of Boko Haram members in the northeast, through border control.
One of the papers, in the second section on Language and Literary Studies, investigates the outcome of the migrants’ dream whether in the diaspora or their return to their home country. The result is failure of the migrants’ dream. The themes of loss of job, depression, divorce, dropout and death become the outcome of the dream of social or economic upliftment by the migrant. The techniques of flashback, contrast and symbolism enable the migrant storytellers to achieve a realistic point of view. It also discovered in this paper that the major reason for the failure of the migrants’ dream is the process of acculturation and hybridity - the unsuccessful merger of the migrants’ home culture and that of the diaspora. The paper concludes that the migrant literature is a realistic portrayal of the “Japa” syndrome. The outcome of the syndrome is always negative in the novel.

Beyond Juvenile Mental Narrative: Social Justice and Redemptive Vision in Wole Soyinka’s Autobiography, Ake: The Years of Childhood
In Nigerian literary expressions, including fictionalized and auto/biographical narratives, there is a strong moralizing or didactic undertone which attests to the mores and values that define the African cultural space. As a writer-activist, Wole Soyinka’s literary productions have often foregrounded his quest for social justice in his immediate and larger community. This revolutionary commitment permeates his writings, including autobiographies. This article examines Soyinka’s quest for justice and social reclamation in his childhood memoir, Ake: The Years of Childhood. The text is purposively selected and subjected to the tools of qualitative literary analysis, relying on the tenets of Postcolonial theory. The researchers argue that Soyinka’s socialist consciousness and commitments manifest through the young Wole in Ake, thereby exhibiting the mental qualities of an adult.
