Design and Experimental Analysis of a Novel Coreless Two-Phase Resonant Motor
This article proposes a novel coreless two-phase resonant motor (CTRM) with a high torque per unit volume density (77.6 N・m/m3) based on the properties of mag-netic resonance coupling. The motor comprises a two-phase orthogonal winding in both the stator and rotor arranged radi-ally on 3-D printed, nonmagnetic cores made from reinforced plastic fiber. In the proposed design, the conventional mag-netic circuit in electric motors is replaced with a resonant cir-cuit. To achieve this, resonant capacitors are connected across the separate two-phase windings to produce the required resonance behavior in the machine. Analytical mod-els of the machine’s key characteristics, including induc-tance, generated torque, and capacitance estimation are derived and verified with an equivalent simulation model through finite element methods. The objective is to efficiently integrate electric machine design concepts with inductive magnetic resonance coupling technology to enhance the out-put torque in an air-cored machine. Finally, a hardware proto-type is developed, and the effectiveness of the CTRM is validated through experimental measurements and analysis. To evaluate the significance and merits of the proposed motor, a case-control experiment without resonant capacitors is set up. The results demonstrate that the proposed CTRM achieves improved performance with larger air-gap compared to related air-cored resonant induction machines
A dynamic dietary-proportion model for polychlorinated biphenyl accumulation in juvenile bluefin tuna
The dietary habits of tuna in marine ecosystems are opportunistic, depend on prey availability, and change as tuna transition from larval to juvenile to adult. This behavior likely influences variations in toxic pollutant accumulation in their bodies. To develop a practical method for simulating pollutant concentrations and assessing marine environmental risk, this study created a theoretical model and numerical computation algorithm that accounts for the dynamic dietary proportions in tuna predation. The opportunistic and stochastic nature of predation was represented by a statistical distribution of body length ratios between prey and predator, using a Bayesian-inferred approach to stochastically determine prey species and incorporate daily dietary composition changes. This model was applied to simulate the accumulation of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) in juvenile bluefin tuna. Comparisons between calculated and measured PCB concentrations showed good agreement, validating the model. During the larval stage, zooplankton was the dominant prey. In the juvenile stage, its proportion decreased, while cephalopods and fish alternately increased. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating growth-dependent dietary shifts into bioaccumulation models

Quasiracemic Crystallization of Luminescent Chiral Molecules: Mechanochromic Luminescence and Sign Inversion of Circularly Polarized Luminescence
The arrangement of molecules plays a crucial role in governing the luminescent properties of organic crystals. While quasiracemic crystallization, based on the co-crystallization of two structurally similar but nonidentical enantiomeric molecules, offers a promising strategy for organizing distinct species within a single crystal, its potential for tuning luminescent behavior remains largely unexplored. Herein, we have prepared quasiracemic crystals from a pair of enantiomeric binaphthyl derivatives functionalized with either ethynylnaphthalene or ethynylbenzothiadiazole groups. The molecular arrangement of the quasiracemic crystal is analogous to that of the racemic ethynylnaphthalene derivative, whereas the quasiracemic crystals exhibit mechanochromic luminescence (MCL) behavior similar to that of the racemic ethynylbenzothiadiazole derivative. Notably, the quasiracemic crystals exhibit circularly polarized luminescence (CPL), and the CPL sign is inverted relative to that of the enantiopure crystal of the ethynylbenzothiadiazole derivative. These results highlight quasiracemic crystallization as a new strategy for modulating MCL and CPL properties
