On some stable boundary closures of finite difference schemes for the transport equation
We explore in this article the possibilities and limitations of the so-called energy method for analyzing the stability of finite difference approximations to the transport equation with extrapolation numerical boundary conditions at the outflow boundary. We first show that for the most simple schemes, namely the explicit schemes with a three point stencil, the energy method can be applied for proving stability estimates when the scheme is implemented with either the first or second order extrapolation boundary condition. We then examine the case of five point stencils and give several examples of schemes and second order extrapolation numerical boundary conditions for which the energy method produces stability estimates. However, we also show that for the standard first or second order translatory extrapolation boundary conditions, the energy method cannot be applied for proving stability of the classical fourth order scheme originally proposed by Strang. This gives a clear limitation of the energy method with respect to the more general approach based on the normal mode decomposition

Improved Edaravone delivery to the brain and crossing the blood brain barrier: using quantum mechanics
Abstract The three neutral tautomers of Edaravone (Edv) have very similar properties suggesting that all three would have similar abilities to permeate the BBB. The Edv-enol tautomer is inherently less reactive than the Edv-keto and Edv-amine tautomers but these factors are offset at physiological pH levels in the body where the enol tautomer easily forms the anionic species which is more chemically reactive than the neutral tautomers. In has been shown that the tautomers of Edv can form inclusion complexes with the cucurbiturils CB[7] and CB[8]. The {Edv-keto@CB[7]} and {Edv-enol@CB[7]} complexes have similar stabilities, but the {Edv-amine@CB[7]} is significantly less stable than the {Edv-keto@CB[7]} and {Edv-enol@CB[7]} complexes. The {Edv-amine@CB[7]} complex forms a hydrogen bond between the Edv-amine N-H and a O=C of CB[7]. These results demonstrate that improved drug delivery of Edv therapy could be achieved by encapsulating Edv within CB[7] such that the Edv-enol form would be protected against the anionic forming side reaction at physiological pH levels in the body. The Edv-keto and Edv-enol tautomers have similar propensities to form inclusion CB[7] complexes in water. The Edv-amine tautomer forms a less stable CB[7] complex, and the formation of a H bond between the Edv-amine N-H and a O=C of CB[7] could be disrupted at slightly acidic pH by protonating the Edv-amine N-H moiety within the CB[7] cavity. This route offers a potential pathway into investigating the different therapeutic efficacy of the Edv-amine tautomer compared to that of the Edv-keto and Edv-enol forms. There is potential for altering the relative concentrations of the Edv tautomers in the inclusion complexes by using polar aprotic solvents to form the {Edv-keto@CB[7]} complex preferentially over the formation of the {Edv-enol@CB[7]} which is expected to be favoured in water. This selectivity is not available using micelles delivery systems which are water based systems. There is some literature evidence that supports the potential for {Edv@CB[7]
D 4.3 - Workflow for New Services
A fundamental basis of a successfully operating digital infrastructure such as DARIAH is formed by the services it provides to its users. In the particular case of the distributed setup DARIAH is using, the integration of new services requires support and guidelines that can be agreed to by all current and future service providers. Such generic guidelines can support individual research as well as new research projects just starting out, and – ideally – later enable the infrastructure to sustain their products.By the development of three demonstrators (i.e. prototypical services) within WP4 the partners deliver an implementation of the above-mentioned guidelines and principles. The demonstrators delivered within WP4 rely on a common topic: bibliographical metadata. The demonstrators show the usage of tools for bibliographical metadata in various stages of the research process, e.g. extraction of entities, the collection and sorting of citations, visualisation of selected aspects of the data. They have been developed with the involvement of the community, applying already existing experiences and resources, and finally are open to be re-used beyond the project

Deliverable D4.3 - Prototype Implementation of the Survey Toolset. ERSAT GGC. ERTMS on SATELLITE Galileo Game Changer
This document is the deliverable D4.3-Prototype Implementation of the Survey Toolset, which provides a high level description of the Toolset Prototype. This document is released in a pre-final version, where the toolset implementation has been done using demo data coming from RFI-ASTS private campaign in Italy. The dataset, related to the Pinerolo-Torino line, was used to test and debug the toolset, and the results provided in this document refer to that line and campaign. The Consortium thanks RFI, ASTS and TRI for the investment done to this aim and the availability of needed dataset in order to respect the scheduling of the project. The toolset will be definitively designed after the test campaigns on field, which will confirm the assumptions and in particular the decision logic approach. In fact, once the test campaigns foreseen in the ERSAT GGC will be performed - as planned in the WP4.3 task - the final implementation of the toolset prototype will be released based on those data. A conclusive issue of this deliverable will be then provided with the results of the test campaigns
Flipping Geometric Triangulations on Hyperbolic Surfaces
We consider geometric triangulations of surfaces, i.e., triangulations whose edges can be realized by disjoint locally geodesic segments. We prove that the flip graph of geometric triangulations with fixed vertices of a flat torus or a closed hyperbolic surface is connected. We give upper bounds on the number of edge flips that are necessary to transform any geometric triangulation on such a surface into a Delaunay triangulation
