No full textThis article presents the Wolphin joint R&D effort between French labs (LIP6, LIPN) and companies (Alter Way, Objectif Libre, Gandi) to tackle the management and scheduling optimization problems in an unknown context, yet critical due to their exponential usage, of containers based infrastructures. The project ran from Jan 2017 to Feb 2019. First, we analyze the differential factors from the legacy VM (Virtual Machine) virtualization and scheduling principles to their containers counterpart. Second, this article showcases research and industrial strategies to optimize resource management for elastic loads, with offline and online demands and model-based approaches. Last, we provide with insights through an Open Source prototype implementation and we synthesis the research papers we published during the project duration. Finally, the paper concludes with some perspectives for the future and discusses lessons learned from the joint effort. Overall, the paper is reporting the Wolphin experience and results, a project managed by industrialists. It serves as a crossroad between academic researchers and software professionals in cloud technologies

No full textUne recherche-action, financée par la Conseil Régional des Hauts de France et l'IFSTTAR, a été menée sur un territoire péri-urbain des Hauts de France. Elle a ouvert la voie vers de potentielles pistes de mobilités alternatives à la voiture individuelle co-construites avec les habitants. Ce projet a permis de vérifier que la participation habitante et l'échelle de proximité (commune) constituent un cadre pertinent pour faire progresser le projet d'une mobilité durable, via les changements de comportement. Il a également permis de mettre en évidence que le numérique, dans ce contexte périurbain particulier, n'est pas un facteur pertinent pour améliorer la connaissance de la mobilité et l'adaptation des solutions de mobilité aux besoins exprimés

Évolution d’une tribu berbère du Maroc central, les Aït Ouirra (Juillet 1950 – janvier 1951)
No full textEn 1951, quelques années avant l’indépendance du Maroc, le capitaine Jean Vaugien, officier des affaires indigènes, rédige un mémoire sur la tribu berbère dont il a la charge. Ce qui n’aurait pu être qu’un rapport administratif destiné à guider la politique coloniale française devient, grâce à la grande curiosité et la familiarité avec les tribus berbères de Jean Vaugien, un véritable travail d'ethnologue, d’historien et de géographe. C’est sur le terrain, en écoutant les anciens autour d’un plateau de thé, qu’il a recueilli les faits de guerre et les traditions des Aït Ouirra. En les observant dans leur milieu il a pu les comprendre et les voir évoluer. Sous l’influence de la colonisation française et du monde moderne les Aït Ouirra abandonnent leur vie de pasteur et guerrier semi-nomade, se sédentarisent, s’instruisent, s’arabisent, s’ouvrent au communisme, au nationalisme et à l’Islam. Un document précieux tant par ce qu’il nous apprend sur une tribu berbère au début du XXe siècle que parce qu’il nous apprend du regard et du travail de l’administration coloniale française
