    Get PDF
Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the validity of the HandyGym portable flywheel device with an integrated rotary encoder in measuring force and power during iso-inertial exercises compared to a traditional reference system. Methods: In total, 10 trained volunteers (3 women, 7 men; age 25.2 ± 3.8 years) performed half-squats with five different load configurations using the HandyGym device. Concurrent measurements were obtained from HandyGym’s rotary encoder and a criterion system (MuscleLab 6000 strain gauge and linear encoder). Five load configurations were tested, with 15 repetitions recorded per condition. The validity of the HandyGym measurements was assessed through mean bias, typical error of estimation (TEE), and Pearson correlation coefficients, with Bland–Altman plots used to analyze the agreement between the two systems. Erythrocyte phospholipid fatty acid profile in high-level endurance runners

    Get PDF
Fatty acids (FAs) are the major structural component of erythrocyte membranes. Diet and physical exercise directly influence their incorporation and function. Endurance runners engage in high volumes of weekly aerobic training, alternating between low-intensity and high-intensity sessions. The aim of the study was to assess and compare the erythrocyte FA profile in a group of high-level male endurance runners (EG) with a control group of non-athlete subjects (CG). This observational study was conducted on 85 subjects, 63 high-level male endurance runners (23 ± 3 years; height: 1.76 ± 0.05) and 22 subjects who did not engage in regular physical exercise (21 ± 0.5 years; height: 1.68 ± 0.39). Runners had at least five years of training experience, and all of them were participants in national and international tournaments. [...]info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The aim of this study was to investigate the reliability and validity of an affordable wireless force sensor in measuring mean and peak forces during resistance training.A Suiff Pro wireless force sensor (Suiff, Spain) and a MuscleLab force platform (Ergotest, Norway) were used concurrently to assess tensile load and the ground reaction force resulting from an upright row exercise. Thirteen participants (28.2 ± 5.7 years, 76.2 ± 9.6 kg, 178.2 ± 9.2 cm) performed the exercise under three velocity conditions and isometrically. Each condition involved three sets of exercise. Mean (Fmean) and peak (Fpeak) force values from both sensors were collected and compared.Suiff Pro exhibited excellent reliability for Fmean and Fpeak (ICCs = 0.99). Effects of mechanical vibration during an incremental slide board skating test on physiological and movement variability parameters

    Get PDF
The physiological, kinematic, and performance benefits of slide board (SB) training are well established. However, there is limited research investigating the potential effects offered by combining SB training with whole-body vibration (WBV). This study aimed to evaluate the impact of WBV on movement variability (MV) and physiological parameters during an incremental SB skating test. Ten elite ice hockey players (20.4 ± 2.07 years; 1.79 ± 0.05 m; 75.97 ± 5.44 kg; 23.64 ± 1.64 body mass index) participated in this study. An incremental test was conducted on the SB under two conditions, randomized in order: WBV (30 Hz) and non-WBV (0 Hz). The incremental test rhythms were established at 30, 35, 40, and 45 Hz. A new flexometric method to evaluate range of movement: a validity and reliability study

    Get PDF
Hip range of movement (ROM) impairments could affect individuals’ quality of life. The aim of this study is to describe a new flexometric method (FM) as a means to estimate hip ROM and to determine its concurrent validity and inter-rater and intra-rater reliability. Hip ROM was measured by performing the straight leg raise test (SLR) and hip abduction test (HA). The WIMU system is the gold standard. ROM was calculated in degrees using a trigonometric function based on values derived from measurements with a flexometer. The SLR and the HA showed high concurrent validity and good inter- and intra-rater reliability with an interclass correlation coefficient value that was at all times > 0.9. Market orientation, integrated marketing communications, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) performance: a comparison between developed and developing economies

    Get PDF
Drawing on dynamic capabilities theory, the study aims to contribute to the existing literature by investigating the mediating role of integrated marketing communication (IMC) in the relationship between market orientation (MO) and customer-related and market performance. Specifically, it focuses on understanding how IMC operates as a strategic tool for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the international environment. The research uses data from 422 SMEs and large firms in both developed and developing economies. Hypothesis testing was conducted using structural equation modelling (SEM). The results show that IMC, as a dynamic capability, enhances the positive impact of MO on customer-related and market performance in both developed and developing economies. The firm's size moderates this mediation effect; however, the moderation varies depending on the economy type. [...]info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
