Fabrication of high thermal conductivity Cu/diamond composites at ambient temperature and pressure
High thermal conductivity Cu/diamond composites were produced at ambient temperature and pressure using an electrodeposition technique, employing various diamond particle sizes in the range of 10 to 230 mu m. The microstructures of the resulting composites were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and their thermal conductivities were assessed using a Xenon flash instrument. The theoretical thermal conductivities of these materials were calculated based on the Hasselman-Johnson equation and compared with the experimentally determined values. The Cu/diamond composites produced in this work were found to exhibit compact textures without any gaps between the Cu matrix and the diamond particles, and the experimental thermal conductivities were in good agreement with the theoretical values. The specimen containing 61 vol.% of 230 mu m diameter diamond particles had the highest conductivity of 662 W K-1 m(-1), which is 1.6 times that of pure Cu (ca. 400 W K-1 m(-1)). Nursing Homeにおける誤薬の内容とその要因
本研究は介護老人保健施設における誤薬の内容とその要因を予測し、誤薬対策を検討するための一助とするために、Nursing homeで実施された、誤薬の内容やその要因に関する文献をレビューし、その類似性や共通性を明らかにした。検索データベースは「PubMed」、「CINAHL」を使用した。検索キーワードは「Medication error」、「Nursing home」、「Care home」、「cause」であった。レビュー対象文献は9文献であった。結果、Nursing homeの誤薬の内容には「無投薬」、「与薬時間間違い」、「投与量間違い」、「投与方法間違い」、「患者間違い」の共通性があった。Nursing homeの誤薬の要因には「作業中断」、「コミュニケーション」不足などが類似していた。介護老人保健施設でも同様の要因から、誤薬が発生していると考えられる。レビューで明らかになった誤薬の内容とその要因を念頭に、利用者の安全を確保するため、介護老人保健施設での誤薬について調査分析し、誤薬予防策を講じる必要がある。departmental bulletin pape
Leidenfrost mixer
Mixing is essential for various microfluidic applications. In this study, we propose a mixer using Leidenfrost phenomena. That is, by using a pair of ratchets (whose directions are opposite each other), we showed that the Leidenfrost mixer can rotate a water droplet with the angular velocity of similar to 30 rad s(-1) and can mix the pearl pigment (whose diffusion coefficient is zero) rapidly. 誘起電荷界面動電現象による多面粒子の自己組織化の解析
Dynamic self-organization of particles due to hydro-dynamic interactions is important because it may provide new functional materials. Here, by the multi-physics calculation method based on the boundary element method combined with the thin-double-layer approximation, we numerically demonstrate that a dispersed system of six-face conductive particles having three non-active surfaces shows the dynamic self-crystallization due to hydrodynamic interactions through induced-charge electro-kinetic phenomena, whereas a dispersed system of Janus particles having a half-spherical non-active surface does not show the crystallization phenomenon. Alkyl-glycerophosphate-mediated C-C motif chemokine 2 secretion induces oxidative stress via increased PPAR gamma activation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells
We previously showed that an alkyl-ether analog of lysophosphatidic acid, AGP (alkyl-glycerophosphate), accumulates in human atherosclerotic plaques and is a potent agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR gamma). On the other hand, cyclic phosphatidic acid (cPA), similar in structure to AGP, can negatively regulate PPAR gamma. However, in this study, cPA had no effect on the expression and secretion of C-C motif chemokine 2 (CCL-2), a chemokine that is also linked to inflammatory responses and atherosclerosis. We showed that AGP enhances CCL-2 mRNA expression and secretion in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, oxidative stress plays a major role in the pathology of cardiovascular diseases; we showed that AGP triggers ROS generation and lipid peroxidation and that ROS and 8-isoprostane generation can be suppressed by a PPAR gamma antagonist. These results suggest that an imbalance of the PPAR gamma agonist-antagonist equilibrium is involved in changes in cellular functions, including ROS generation and lipid peroxidation.ArticleBIOMEDICINE & PHARMACOTHERAPY. 106:686-691 (2018)journal articl
