Fostering Sustainability through Gender Equality: Perspectives of Lecturers and Students in Vietnamese Higher Education
Globally, higher education institutions face challenges in ensuring gender equality, particularly in creating inclusive teaching environments and equitable policies. Vietnam, with its rapidly evolving education system, also encounters issues in achieving gender equality, raising questions about the perspectives of key stakeholders on this important issue. This study investigates the views of students and lecturers on gender equality in Vietnamese higher education, focusing on teaching practices, institutional policies, and personal experiences. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through a structured survey, and analyses were conducted using Percentage and Frequency, Mean Item Score (MIS), Standard Deviation (SD), and the Mann-Whitney U test. The results reveal that most respondents agreed that Vietnamese universities promote gender equality, although notable differences were observed based on respondent categories, gender, and age groups. Students highlighted inclusivity in teaching practices, while lecturers emphasized institutional measures. Female respondents perceived stronger efforts in equality promotion compared to males, particularly in academic opportunities. Respondents over 20 years of age expressed higher awareness and appreciation of gender equality initiatives than their younger counterparts. This study emphasizes the need to bridge gaps in perceptions by enhancing teaching practices, fostering awareness campaigns, and implementing robust policies to promote inclusivity. These findings are significant for policymakers, educators, and administrators seeking to strengthen gender equality initiatives in Vietnam’s higher education sector, contributing to global efforts toward inclusive and sustainable education systems

Exploring the Underlying Barriers for the Successful Transition for Women from Higher Education to Employment in Egypt: A Focus Group Study
Education is the foundation of culture and the engine of economies; it is an essential part of life. However, it remains inaccessible or unavailable in some parts of developing nations. Moreover, such barriers for girls and women can extend beyond education and into the workplace, and this is a bone of contention based on erroneous beliefs and other factors. Barriers for girls’ and women’s education are debatable in the literature; however, there is a sparsity of literature that focuses on the bridge to the workplace. Therefore, through a focus group study, this study explores the barriers that prohibit the transition for women from higher education to employment in Egypt. Based on qualitative data from focus group participants, the barriers to girls’ and women’s education are related to cultural, economic, family, and structural–educational barriers. In addition, stereotypical thinking and discrimination are factors hindering girls and women from ‘decent’ employment in Egypt. Based on this study’s results, some practical recommendations were elicited, which centre around awareness enhancement, formulation of laws and policies, and development of employability skills and entrepreneurship skills. The managerial and societal implications of this study are illustrated. It is anticipated that the results of this study will serve to create an inherent need to undertake a larger survey to investigate the barriers from a wider number of respondents
Fuzzy Synthetic Evaluation of the Barriers and Sustainable Pathways for Women During the Transition from Higher Education to Empowerment in Pakistan
This study explores the barriers that impede women’s transition from higher education to empowerment in Pakistan. It uses Fuzzy Synthetic Evaluation (FSE). By integrating qualitative and quantitative data, this research identifies six primary barriers: sociocultural values, family-related issues, freedom and mobility, violence and harassment, economic factors, and gendered norms. Data were collected through a survey of 500 women across various regions of Pakistan, with a valid response rate of 79.8% (N = 399), providing a comprehensive analysis of the most significant obstacles to women’s empowerment. The findings reveal the intricate and pervasive nature of these challenges, with sociocultural values, family-related issues, and restrictions on freedom and mobility emerging as the most critical. These traditional norms and patriarchal structures (index 3.942) significantly hinder women’s educational and professional progress. Family-related issues (index 3.840) and restrictions on freedom and mobility (index 3.820) also play a substantial role. Violence and harassment (index 3.705) further deter women from pursuing their goals, while economic factors (index 3.695) and gendered norms (index 3.631) contribute to the persistent gender disparities. This study concludes with a call to action, emphasising the urgent need to address these barriers. To boost women’s empowerment and advance gender equality in Pakistan, comprehensive solutions comprising targeted interventions, societal change, and policy reforms are required. By prioritising these challenges, stakeholders can develop practical solutions. This research provides invaluable insights for policymakers, educators, and advocates, urging them to work towards creating an inclusive and equitable environment for women’s advancement
Barriers to Offsite Construction Adoption in Jordan: An Exploratory Factor Analysis
This research investigated the barriers to Offsite Construction (OSC) adoption in Jordan. Four hypothesised groups, with their associated items, were used to develop a questionnaire survey to gather data. Twenty-three survey items were finalised through an extensive literature review and a pilot study. The questionnaire was used to collect data from 208 construction professionals in Jordan. An exploratory factor analysis revealed that the OSC adoption is affected by three groups of barriers: economic, social, and environmental. The analysis assists in developing evaluation frameworks for continuous and process improvements. Understanding the barriers to OSC adoption is essential so that decision-makers and practitioners can effectively plan and implement effective strategies and development plans, thriving the adoption of OSC in Jordan
Deploying the Hybrid Project Management Methodology Framework in Major Transportation Projects in the United Kingdom
This paper introduces a proposed Hybrid Project Management Methodology Framework, tailored for Project
Managers engaged in overseeing large-scale road transport projects in the United Kingdom. Through a mixed-method approach comprising of a comprehensive literature review, a structured quantitative questionnaire
administered to industry professionals, and a case study examining the application of Lean and Agile methodologies
in a complex megaproject, this study identifies the prevailing project management methodologies in use within the UK Mega Transport Projects (MTP) domain. The surveyed professionals, primarily experienced project managers
in construction, provided insights into the challenges encountered in MTP, helping to rank the most common
methodologies and best practices. The findings underscore the prominence of hybrid methodologies, particularly
Lean and Agile, in MTP delivery, alongside the importance of adopting additional methodologies tailored to project
characteristics. Moreover, successful project outcomes hinge not only on methodology selection but also on the
application of industry best practices, including collaborative partnerships, key performance indicators (KPIs), and others. This research contributes a focused examination of the impact of project management methodologies and best practices on MTP in the UK, offering insights into addressing associated challenges
Examining the Drivers to Support Improved Construction and Demolition Waste Management for a Circular Economy: A Comprehensive Review Using a Systematic Approach
With the rapid pace of global urbanisation, construction demolition waste (CDW) constitutes roughly 36% of the total solid waste deposited in landfill sites worldwide, thereby posing a
significant challenge to the sustainability of the construction industry. To address this issue, circular
economy strategies are proposed as a solution. This paper systematically analyses 55 research articles
published in leading peer-reviewed English-language scholarly journals over the past decade. It
aims to identify and categorise drivers for enhanced CDW management by synthesising findings
from previous research to support the principles of a circular economy. Utilising a PESTLE model
for classification and analysis provides valuable insights into disparities and distinctions among
categories, regions, and countries. The resulting analysis yields valuable insights into enablers and
trends, with the aim of making a substantial contribution to mitigating the impact of construction
activities and thus fostering the establishment of an efficient circular economy within the sector
