Engendering the Formula: Engendering a Notion in the Early Kristeva

The present text is focused on the genealogy of one of Julia Kristeva's early notions - the notion of formula that appeared first in Semeiotiké (1969). The origin of the notion can be traced back to an earlier linguistic theory - that of Sebastian Shaumyan and Polina Soboleva. Kristeva integrated some of Shaumyan-Soboleva's central notions in her essay "L'Engendrement de la formule." She used, the notion of formula, in the first place, but also two other concepts that formed the basis for the functioning of the formula, the concepts of phenotypical and genotypical language that also appear in her later work. The present text claims that Kristeva didn't simply adopt these notions but presented several very important critical remarks. She re-modelled them, endowing them with a new meaning. Thus, we explore the terminological consequences of the transformations introduced by Kristeva, namely replacing language in the phrase phenotypical and genotypical language with the new concept of text and, hence, giving rise to the new terminological couple, phenotext and genotext

Intertextual References from Michelangelo Buonarroti’s The Creation of Adam and Walt Disney/Pixar’s Computer-Animated Film Luca

This essay discusses the intertextual references in the artwork The Creation of Adam and in scenes from the animated film Luca. The scene depicting the “touch of the finger-tips” (Walter Pater) between God and man will be discussed in connection with various scenes from the film. The intertextual references will be analyzed with semiotic tools, redefined through their intertextual interaction, and given a new meaning arising from their new environment

The mythical and technomagic aquatic metaphors of digital aesthetics as a semiotic empowerment of the female, oneiric, and translucent imaginary in the techno-art

This essay aims to reflect critically on how the technomagic concept, elucidated by the French philosopher Michel Maffesoli, proposes itself as a new way of understanding the contemporary aesthetics of the digital based on the immersive visual effects of liquid, dreamlike, and ethereal poetic sounds and visualities present in several examples of artistic contemporary productions. This philosophical and aesthetic perspective, brought about by technomagic evocates liquid and aquatic metaphors of digital artistic creations, as well as a way of understanding social human relationships in the digital sphere in an optimistic context of re-enchantment for human existence. For him, it was a process of feminization of the world, evocating mythical metaphors of cultural imaginaries and symbolics. Methodologically, this work intends to contemplate cultural semiotics as an enlightening approach by understanding digital culture as technological mediation for analyzing digital language which reflects the paths of technomagic in the expressions of technological art characteristics of digital media

Alterity in Autobiography: Charles Lamb's "The Essays of Elia"

    No full text
This article scrutinizes the unorthodox turn in Charles Lamb’s autobiographical writing through the figure of Elia with its potential to test the limits of alterity and one’s representation of oneself while challenging at the same time the immunity of self as the origin of knowledge and truth. In so doing, this study also maintains that Elia as the autonomous entity calls into question the authority of the writer as well as any claim on teleology and coherence in the act of writing one’s own life specifically. To this end, explication of some of the key passages in the essays is informed by Jacques Derrida’s theoretical stance towards autobiography in his seminal work The Ear of the Other. In this vein, the article suggests that Elia’s individuality and self-consciousness in the essays manifest in unorthodox ways the simultaneous interpretative potential of the figure as the reader of Lamb’s life in making

    Deterministic networks using segment routing

The aim of the work is to analyze the new direction in telecommunications - creation of deterministic networks using segment routing technology within IPv6. The results obtained cover the consideration of network functions in a deterministic IP network (DIP), its architecture and principle of operation. The various aspects of segment routing (SR) technology are given, as well as the many use cases, incl. traffic engineering, network failure recovery, stateless chaining of services, introduction of 5G network "slices", cross-domain switching to connect users to applications on servers in multiple data centers, segment routing in SD-WAN. The main technologies of a DIP network are considered: traffic flow shaping (smoothing), input scheduling, time slot scheduling. The contributions relate to analysis and conclusions on the applicability, scope and development of DIP networks using segment routing technology within IPv6

Research of the implementation of modern wireless broadband electronic communication services

The article aims to analyze various aspects of the implementation of modern wireless broadband electronic communication services, focusing on spectrum management, regulatory framework and technological innovations. The processes of licensing and allocation of radio frequency spectrum are studied as important factors for the successful provision of broadband services. The main contribution of the article is to clarify the role of public-private partnerships in the development of these services and to propose strategies for improving the infrastructure and organizational part of the implementation. The article also examines the integration of new technologies such as 5G and IoT, which offer new opportunities for the development and expansion of wireless networks. An analysis is made of operational management and the factors that determine the effectiveness of the implementation. The results of the study offer useful recommendations for improving the processes related to the implementation of modern wireless broadband services and emphasize the importance of innovation and strategic planning to achieve long-term results

Examining Lecturers’ Insights: Resolving Challenges and Implementing Strategies for Improving Academic Writing Proficiency Among Kosovo Students

This study examines the perspectives of 40 lecturers from public and private universities in Kosovo on the challenges students face in developing academic writing skills and strategies for improvement. Using a structured questionnaire, lecturers identify common obstacles: insufficient foundational skills, lack of critical thinking, issues with clarity and cohesion, difficulties balancing personal ideas with sources, problems adhering to standards, and grammar and vocabulary misuse. The research highlights effective strategies to address these issues, including peer review, individualized feedback, writing workshops, critical thinking development, a supportive classroom environment, clear objectives for assignments, regular writing tasks, and offering choice in topic selection. The findings emphasize the need for comprehensive institutional support and active student engagement to enhance writing proficiency. The study offers practical recommendations to improve writing instruction, contributing to higher education quality in Kosovo
