The Non-European Nature of the Bulgarian Socio-Economic Model

    No full text
The article looks at the contemporary socio-economic model in Bulgaria arguing that it does not correspond to the broad European tradition of being sensitive to the presence of significant social imbalances in the society. The author insists that this is one of the primary factors for the controversial economic outcomes and the existence of deepening social problems in the country. The argumentation goes through evaluation of the formation process of the new socio-economic model in Bulgaria after 1989 and the assessment of the economic and social outcomes for the period until 2022. On this basis it is concluded that maintaining the current policy in the medium-term will inevitably undermine not only the economic prospects, but also the quality and stability of Bulgarian democracy

    No full text
Violence has accompanied human development from ancient times to the present days. It is pervasive and multifaceted. As a social phenomenon, it has been the subject of diverse studies aimed at explaining its essence. It is most often seen as the result of an individual’s aggressive behavior directed at another individual. Violence has different forms of manifestation – from different types of mental harassment to physical abuse, which can turn into a crime. Depending on the specific relationships that develop between people, violence most often occurs in the family environment, in the school and in the work environment

Symbolism in solo songs of Albanian Composers written in the second half of the twentieth century. My thesis presents a research on symbolism in the solo songs by Albanian composers written in the second half of the 20th century. The main aim of this research is to break down symbolism and some other aesthetic elements into solo songs form of the Albanian musical artistic community that was living and creating at a time of doubts and censorship, the era of totalitarian monist undemocratic communist ideology. Symbolism as a spirit in Albanian music art has been little elaborated, but there are no publications or books that elaborate on symbolism in musical art in general, especiall y research onsolo songs. This thesis requires sensitivity of approach, knowing the reason for the emergence of symbolism in the works of these composers. The symbolism in Albanian literature and professional music in the second half of the 20th century reflected the spirit of the Albanian artist. This is the main reason why I decided to do a study in this field. Another reason for my determination on this topic is my professional-concert journey which is concentrated on the solo songs of the Albanian composers. From the research in this area, we can conclude that symbolism in Albanian professional music of the second half of the 20th century has bold harmonic hues, similar to developed European and world countries, but has its characteristic or distinctive qualities. Another characteristic that makes the difference in the creativity of this period of Albanian music is the embodiment of the literary style of symbolism

    Get PDF
The Kresna Gorge attracts significant scientific ornithological interest as it is situated along one of the primary bird migration routes – Via Aristotelis. In 2010, a process of reintroducing the Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus) began in the area, which can now be deemed a success. However, there are still various anthropogenic factors that have a negative impact on the population’s resilience. The purpose of this study is to investigate the potential for developing ornithological tourism contributing to the protection of the local population of Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus)

A semiotic analysis of representations of maids in Greek movies of the 1950s and 60s

    Get PDF
A  variety  of  semiotic  codes,  for  example,  proxemics,  kinesics,  dress  code, verbal code, usually construct specific representations in audiovisual culture. This paper explores the semiotic systems in synergy which seem to lead to consolidation of the social representations of maids in pop culture texts, such as Greek movies in the 1950s and 60s (the old Greek cinema era). The research questions explore the social representations which have been constructed and the ways in which the verbal and non-verbal signs of the maids can lead to the consolidation of their social image or even to a myth construction based on specific ideological perspectives. So, how do maids act  in  Greek  movies  in  the  1950s  and  60s?  What  does  their  performance  signify? A semiotic analysis will  examine all these questions through semiotic codes in those multimodal texts (Greek movies), selected from the field of the historically Greek pop culture texts. These verbal and non-ver-bal codes work coherently to translate the depiction of Greek society and culture and to convey connotative meanings
