    Вукови погледи на творбу придева

    No full text

    No full text

New tendencies in the Turkish language

Following the establishment of the Republic of Turkey on the 29th of October 1923, Mustapha Kemal Ataturk began the implementation of fundamental reforms for the creation of a new identity for the Turkish nation. One of the most important reforms was the adoption of Latin script in place of Arabic, as well as the cleansing of the Turkish language of Arabic and Persian linguistic influence and borrowed words. It is from then onwards that the Turkish language began to change continually and was modelled under the control of the Turkish Linguistic Society in whose undertakings numerous linguists, writers and cultural workers took part. Many books were published: grammar books that established norms for the Turkish language, single-language dictionaries, dictionaries of neologism to replace archaic and Ottoman words, dual-language dictionaries, orthographic rule books, professional and scientific journals, as well as organizing many Turkish Language congresses in which all aspects and issues related to language usage were discussed and studied. Since it is a known fact that languages are constantly undergoing transformation in space and time, all these changes, especially during the last twenty years, had been under the watchful eyes of numerous linguists who were responsible for scrutinizing all relevant aspects of the language on the grammatical, lexical and socio-cultural levels. However, many of these changes had not been promptly and adequately processed in the relevant Turkish language grammar books, a fact that today poses a special problem for persons studying the Turkish language. Thus, in this paper we have focused our attention solely on atypical usage of the language on grammatical and lexical levels, without carrying out any deeper analysis of those instances because such an undertaking would require of us to enter the domain of linguistic field-work research. Within the spoken and written Turkish language certain grammatical and lexical forms have been shortened for reasons of economy in expression. Also, present is a degree of language degeneration, a spoiling and tainting of the language that is occurring due to the strong influence of social networks and text-messaging apps for which it is not important to be grammatically correct or free from any orthographic and writing mistakes, rather the aim is that they be as short as possible, so that they could be typed out rapidly and dispatched even quicker. Considering that the movement for linguistic purism was of prime importance for the cleansing of the language of loanwords, a paradoxical situation has been appearing in recent years where there is an unstoppable influx of Anglo-Saxon words, as well as the return in usage of long-discarded and forgotten archaic words within the standard language. The agglutinative structure of the Turkish language is especially susceptible to the derivation of new hybrid-words in the sociolects that often represent a mixture of the Turkish and English languages, which for the younger generations is much more acceptable than the slightly forced and politicized usage of archaic words that have been replaced by Turkish language equivalents quite some time ago

Poučavanje vokabulara učenika u prvom razredu osnovne škole: eksperimentalni pristup

    No full text
Vocabulary teaching includes enriching vocabulary, learning and using words, and has a great influence on language development. The aim of this paper is the review of the designed experimental programme for vocabulary teaching, which influences the enrichment of pupils' vocabulary. The experimental programme was designed according to the types of lexical exercises, and it is applied in native language teaching. The sample of the experiment of parallel groups included pupils in the first grade of primary school (N = 110). The experimental programme for vocabulary teaching was realized within three months with three or four lexical exercises a week. After the completion of the programme, there was a test, which had the purpose of diagnosing the difference between the pupils in the experimental and control group. The results showed a statistically significant difference between the control and experimental group in the following vocabulary items: adjective, noun, verb, synonyms, antonyms, diminutives, and composing words out of the given letters. There were no differences between groups in composing words out of the given word. This research shows that the preparation of a detailed programme for vocabulary teaching influences the enrichment of pupils' vocabulary in the first grade of primary school.

(Non)substituent conjunctions "i" and "a" in a coordinate copulative clause

    No full text
The paper analyzes the possibility of the copulative conjunction I and primarily adversative conjunction A being substituent in a coordinate copulative clause. It has been demonstrated that "substituence" is only possible in two structural and semantic types of copulative sentences: a) copulative sentences with semantic concretizers of temporal and spatial meaning, and b) copulative sentences with a relative coordinate clause introduced by the conjunction i to and/or a to. In the first type of the coordinate copulative sentence conjunctions I and A are interchangeable only in those cases when they are followed by a semantic concretizer of a certain subtype copulative in meaning, especially a concretizer carrying the meaning of successiveness in the sense of posteriority, simultaneousness, and spatiality, while the examples of concretizers with the meaning of manner and successiveness in the sense of interiority are almost occasional. Next to the conjunction I concretizers have the expletive status, whereas next to the conjunction A they have the mandatory status. Omission of mandatory determiners brings about structural and/or semantic consequences, since the sentence becomes either grammatically unauthenticated, or its meaning is changed. In the second type, i.e. in copulative sentences with a relative coordinate clause introduced by the conjunction i to and/or a to, "conjunctional" clusters i to and a to are substituent only when i/a to-relative coordinate clause refers to the content of the entire previous clause, and when these clusters are replaceable by a relative pronoun & sect;to (e.g.: Posvadao je narod, i/a to/ sto nije dobro). When a coordinate relative clause refers only to the substantive antecedent from the structure in a previous clause (and not to its content as a whole) and semantically concretizes this antecedent, it is possible to use a to-relative copulative coordinate clause (e.g.: Mi imamo isti cilj, a to je da zavrsimo fakultet). When a coordinate relative clause has a restrictive function next to the substantive antecendent from a previous clause, it is then introduced by the conjunction i to (e.g.: Volim da gledam crtane filmove, i to one koje sam gledao u detinjstvu = Volim da gledam one crtane filmove koje sam gledao u detinjstvu)

Jovan Deretic reader of Dositej Obradovic: from marxism to structuralism. A historian of literature in serbia (1960-1970)

    No full text
This work traces the intellectual journey of Jovan Deretic, a great historian of Serbian literature, in communist Serbia. The analysis is based on his various readings of the work of Dositej Obradovic. It begins with the importance of Obradovic for Serbian culture during the Enlightenment. It then shows that Deretic's early analyses of his work are mainly rooted in dialectical materialism. In a second stage, Deretic turns to neopositivist structuralism to offer more immanent approach to Obradovic's work It ultimately leads to an awareness of the contradictions and limitations of immanent analysis as well as of the ideological interpretation of a work

    О стилским вредностима одсуства интерпункције

    No full text

Grammatical gender and linguistic loaning: feminine gender assignment in Italian anglicisms

    No full text
The paper deals with the problem of gender assignment of loan words from predominantly isolating languages (such as English) in languages with (partly) flexible morphology (such as Italian). The English as a donor language does not have grammatical gender, whereas in recipient language (Italian) it is obligatory. How to assign the gender to English loans in Italian if the loan word does not indicate a living being scilicet does not have the natural gender? The aim of this paper is to determine the rules for assigning feminine gender to English nouns in Italian because the nouns become feminine only on the basis of the rule (otherwise, in cases where no rule can be used, the noun would be, by default, of the masculine gender). The research is conducted on word corpus consisting of examples taken from Italian dictionaries and newspapers as well as from Google
