Get PDFapplication/pdfThe present study was designed to determine the relationship between student ratings of teaching, satisfaction with the class, and the examination scores. Ninety-three undergraduate students took part in a survey by completing a questionnaire. A 2 (examination scores : high, low) ×2 (announcement of the examination scores : before the announcement, after the announcement) factorial design was used. The student ratings of teaching and satisfaction with the class were dependent variables. The results are as follows : (1) Examination scores and their announcement to the students have little effect on the student ratings of teaching. Student who received poor scores on examination do not undererate the class. (2) Examination scores and their announcement to the students have an effect on satisfaction with the class. Student who received poor scores were dissatisfied with the class after they became aware of their scores
Dealing with Absenteeism in English classes at Takamatsu University
Get PDFapplication/pdfTakamatsu University is a 4 year institution in Japan that has been experiencing high levels of absenteeism in the English classes. In order to better assess the problem, this study focused on the following question: What motivates students to attend English classes at the university? A sample of 12 students out of the total population of 57 students enrolled in one instructor's English classes took part in the study by completing an anonymous questionnaire. Students were given a 24 hour period to think about and answer the research question and to give as much detail as possible. The results showed that nearly l00% of the students were motivated to attend classes if they could receive points toward their final grade for participation by attending, regardless of any other considerations that they may also have. It was noted that on top of offering points for attendance, instructors should make their policies of attendance clear and possibly do something to help students who have problems with attendance

Many upstream manufacturers are interested not in the system itself, but in the industry in which the assembly manufacturers, which own the MSS system, exist. They reply that they would like to succeed in supplying the car industry, particularly the top car manufacturer with their own products. For Facing the Dispute on Amendments to the Constitution of Japan

The Constitution, the fundamental statute of a society, should be subject to accommodation m response to the transition of the social circumstance; however, the reason for an amendment must be announced clearly and concretely to the people whenever an amendment proposition is given and by whomever, including political circles, one is presented. Upon the action of an amendment, being totally free from the vision of the nation in the past, it is highly desired to establish the system for the full realization of a vision ahead of 30 to 50 years from now of Japan as an ideal democratic nation contributing to international peace and cooperation
