    Get PDF
application/pdfThe relation of student ratings of teaching to student self-ratings of learning, examination scores, and overall class satisfactions are analyzed. One hundred and eight undergraduate students responded to the questionnaire. The main results were as follows : (1) Three factors were evaluated from the student ratings of teaching. There are "evaluation of class contests" , "evaluation of teacher's attitudes" , and "evaluation of class style" . (2) Three factors were evaluated from the student self-ratings. There are "active attitude in the class" , "active attitude out of the class", and "general attitude in the classroom" . (3) "Active attitude in the class" is positively correlated to the "evaluation of class contests" and "evaluation of teacher's attitudes" . (4) Students who rated teaching as high were more satisfied with the class than those who rated teaching as low. (5) Students who considered self-ratings as high were more satisfied with the class than those who considered themselves as low. Moreover, students who had a more active attitude in the class got higher examination scores than those who had a less active attitude. (6) The consideration placed on teacher's personality is not related to the examination scores, but positively correlated to student satisfaction with the class. These findings suggest that students who have an active attitude rate the class high, are satisfied with the class, and get high examination scores. Finally, teachers might have to think out some way to make students more active in the class

application/pdfThis research examines how local staffs positively work in not only overseas subsidiaries but also headquarters and third countries that vigorously pursue new localization. This paper is part 1 of 2 chapters. The problem that not advancing by Japanese overseas subsidiaries employing local staffs is pointed out in the first volume, and, next, an existing research is examined. Most of the past, existing researches considered localization from the aspect of an overseas subsidiary. This research tries to clarify localization at a new level, from headquarters. This research refers to International Human Resource Management (IHRM). IHRM means the practice of Human Resources Management by headquarters on a variety of international talents. These include : Host-country nationals (HCNs) , Parent-country nationals (PCNs) , and Third-country nationals (TCNs). This research tries to clarify the process and idea of new localization from Human Resource Management by headquarters. This research examines the use of not only overseas subsidiaries but also headquarters and third countries of local staffs to pursue new localization. This paper is part 2 of 2 chapters. The author has clarified the standpoint of this research of considering the new localization from Human Resource Management by headquarters by examining existing research in the first volume. In addition, the component of Human Resources Management by headquarters and the new localization was examined. Finally the relation between components of human resources management by headquarters and the new localization will be defined in the latter chapter. A theoretical model was established of Human Resource Management by headquarters, enhanced as they passed the stage as ethnocentric (or home-country oriented) to polycentric (or, host-country oriented) and geocentric (or world-oriented) by examining the EPG model of Perlmutter (1969) , and pursuing new localization. This case was substantiated by case studies of seven multinational companies
