Resonance between India and Japan in the early 20th century － A Study of Mori ŌGAI‘s ‘ The Tower of Silence’－
Get PDFapplication/pdfMori Ōgai published his short story ‘The Tower of Silence’ in Mita Bungaku in 1910. He wrote ‘The Tower of Silence’ (said to be an imaginary tower) to criticize the mass arrests in the ‘Crimes of High Treason Incident’ (Taigyaku Jiken) and a newspaper column titled ‘Dangerous Western Books’ published in the same year.
At the time, Ōgai was the Director of the Medical Bureau of Ministry of the Japanese Army. He would have hesitated to criticize the government due to his position as a key military official. But at the same time, he was pursuing vigorous creative activities as a Doctor of Literature and must have had pride in his position as a literary scholar.
The author, having lived in India for four years, can confirm that ‘Tower of Silence’ does exist in reality. This paper first introduces the existing ‘Tower of Silence’. Then it discusses how Ōgai came to know of its existence, thereby arguing that around 1900 India and Japan had not only economic but also cultural exchanges and ideological resonance
Basic research on falconry culture in Sanuki（Part 2）
Get PDFapplication/pdfThe falconry culture of Sanuki (including hunting culture as a prehistory) started from the hunting of boar and deer in primitive and ancient times and falconry flourished in medieval times, with the Kagawa, Kasai, Yasutomi, Akiyama, Tada, Hayuka, and other samurai clans becoming skilled in the art of falconry.In the early modern period, falconers were organized into vassal groups such as the Ikoma, Matsudaira, and Kyogoku clans, and were active until the Meiji Restoration. This paper provides an overview of falconry culture in Sanuki and the role played by the gift-giving and ritual activities for falcons and their prey in the formation of local community order and the establishment and maintenance of the ruling system， and also clarifies future issues
Development of teaching materials for “headgear”② － Animal headgear made from paper bags －
Get PDFapplication/pdfSince 2021, the author has taught a class called "Children and Creative Expression II" in the Department of Childcare. One of the class assignments involves students making "headgear". This assignment has been developed and refined in the classroom from 2021 until 2024. This paper is the second in the "headgear" assignment series for which teaching materials were developed. Based on the consideration of "Animal headgear made from cardboard" (submitted as a research note in the university’s Bulletin No. 82) published in 2021, this article reports on the results of the development of teaching materials, improving upon the materiars and methods from the 2022 assignment, i. e., animal headgear made from paper bags. This paper reflects on the process of developing teaching materials through repeated prototyping, reports on and considers the content and methods used in the class, and outlines future directions
Career Transition Teachers' Perplexion at Special Needs Schools for Intellectual Disabilities : From Analysis of Free Writing Texts about Ralated Laws and Support Systems for School-to-Work Transition.

A questionnaire was sent to a total of 1,072 transition teachers belong to 536 special needs school for intellectual disabilities, for collecting free writing texts about perplexion that transition teacher were feeling when they support school-to-work transition with students. These data were using qualitative analysis. As the result, free writing texts were categorized as follows;（1）collaboration with companies which employ persons with disabilities, （2）collaboration with transition services agencies,（3）using related laws and support systems for school-to-work transition, and（4）providing support for graduates to maintain independent living and stability of working as employee in community
