    Information Exchange and Human Capital Development

    This study focuses on the relationship between information exchange and human capital development in Bauchi Furniture Company in Bauchi State. In this study, a cross-section analysis method was used to generate the data. The target group for the survey is all employees of the Bauchi Furniture Company in Bauchi State, totaling 285 (285). The table of Krejcie and Morgan (1970) was used to collect sample sizes and establish the minimum sample size returned for a given population. For our population, the table established the sample size as 169 (169). Finally, after data cleansing, only data from 148 respondents were used for data analysis. The sampling method used in this study is a simple random sampling technique focused on owners and operators. Pearson descriptive statistics correlations were used for data analysis and hypothesis testing. Experimental results confirm that there is a positive and significant correlation between human capital management and the innovation power of the company for the Bauchi Furniture Company in Bauchi State. This study concluded that aspects of information sharing (knowledge acquisition, knowledge distribution and interpretation, and organizational memory) have positive and significant relationships with human capital development. The research suggests that information sharing factors (connectivity and readiness) should be considered in an organization's innovation plan. Overall, the results of the research will help scholars and practitioners in the field of strategy and innovation to develop academically sound technologies, identify the scope of innovation for firms, and apply resources to human capital can be used

    Search Marketing (SM): A Qualitative Appraisal of Its Effectiveness as a Digital Marketing and Advertising Tool

    This qualitative work was undertaken to establish the effectiveness of Search Marketing (SM) as a digital marketing and advertising tool. The study established the fact that virtually all information about goods and services are now sought from the internet using search engines like Google. For this reason, search marketing which involves carrying out marketing and advertising activities using the internet should be an integral part of all- size businesses’ efforts at meaningfully engaging with and sharing meanings with their target audiences as the internet never sleeps and coupled with the fact that mobile gadgets like phones and tablets can now be used to access the internet while on the go. The study also established the fact that search marketing tools include Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Though an advertiser may choose to use any of the tools to attain her SM goals and objectives, it is the recommendation of the study that for the best results at awareness creation, positive behavioral change and sustenance, an advertiser should combine the two tools- ways of effectively doing so are contained in the study

    IMPACT OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT ON EMPLOYEES’ PERFORMANCE IN ACCESS BANK PLC NIGERIA, ZAMFARA STATE

    This study exams impact between training and development and employees’ job performance in Access Zamfara state. The statistical population for this study was drawn from Access Bank PLC and it was limited to a selected sample size of 100 respondents from the four branches namely: two in Gusau, and one each in Kaura Namoda, and Talata Mafara within Zamfara State. The convenience sampling method was used in selecting participants for the study. This method was found appropriate because it gives the researcher the opportunity to use his discretion or judgement in selecting the participants of the study largely because of the insecurity in some locations of the state. The five-point Likert Scale questionnaire instrument was used for data collection. The data for the study were collected by the researcher himself with the help of some of the employees of the bank who are also students or formal students of NOUN. The sets of the questionnaire were then distributed to the employees in the four branches of Access bank in Zamfara State covered in study. The sets of the questionnaire received were tabulated and presented using tables and frequencies and the three stated hypotheses were tested using the spear rank correlation analysis. The findings of the study show that on the job training, off the line training and development impacted significantly on employees’ performance. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher concludes that training and development improve employees’ performance in Access bank. Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, the researcher recommends that appropriate training and development activities should be designed by management to fit the need of the staff receiving the training and that this be ongoing

    IMPACT OF TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON THE PERFORMANCE OF INSURANCE COMPANIES IN NIGERIA

    Total quality management (TQM) has been widely considered as the strategic, tactical and operational tool in the quality management research field. It is one of the most applied and well accepted approaches for business excellence besides, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), Six Sigma, Just-in-Time (JIT) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) approaches. There is a great enthusiasm among manufacturing and service industries in adopting and implementing this strategy in order to maintain their sustainable competitive advantage. The study aimed to investigate and critically analyze the impact of total quality management on insurance firms’ performance in Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive research survey that focuses on strategies of TQM and emerging issues that bugged its implementation in the Nigerian insurance market. The population of the study is the 58 insurance firms contained in the register of corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and listed with National insurance commission as at December 2021. The study designed a structured 5-point likert-scale questionnaires for the managers since it was a firm level measurement. In the end 47 of instruments were successfully were filled and returned. Regression analysis was used in estimating the research model at 0.05 significance level. The result of the study indicated that Total quality management does not have a significant impact on insurance firms’ performance. In today’s fast-paced competitive environment, firms need to be increasingly innovative to establish a certain level of performance based upon novel technologies. The adoption of theoretical TQM would help insurance firms’ managers, brokers and practitioners in better understanding its practices while focusing on implementing TQM in their companies for enduring firm performance

    DETERMINANTS OF DIVIDEND PAYOUT RATIO: EVIDENCE FROM LISTED INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY FIRMS IN NIGERIA

    The general objective of the study is to examine the determinants of dividend payout ratio of listed information and communications technology companies in Nigeria for a period of eight years from 2012-2020. The study adopted ex post facto research design and collected data from secondary source. The population of the study is twelve (12) listed Information and Communications Technology Companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and purposive sampling technique was adopted and six (6) companies whose data were available and complete for the years under review were selected. Stata 13 version was used as a tool for data analysis. Liquidity with current ratio and quick ratio as proxies, profitability with return on assets as proxy, were used as independent variables while dividend payout ratio was the dependent variable. Result revealed that current ratio, quick ratio and return on assets have significant effect on dividend payout ratio. It is concluded that whenever the companies manage their current ratios or current assets as well as return on assets efficiently, they will be able to pay their dividends without a hitch It is recommended that the information and communication technology industry works diligently on the level of their profitability to attract more investors into the industry

    EFFECT OF CORRUPTION ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF LOKOJA, KOGI STATE, NIGERIA FROM 2015 - 2021

    This study was carried out to assess the effect of corruption on the socio-economic development of Lokoja, Kogi state. Three research questions were formulated to guide the study. A survey method was adopted for the study, and 399 sample respondents were selected and administered a questionnaire to obtain primary data. The data was analyzed using frequency and percentage. The results obtained showed that, to a very high extent, corruption is the bane of infrastructural decay in Lokoja, Kogi state. Based on the findings, it was recommended that to tame the surge of corruption in Lokoja, Kogi State, and the general population should be re-orientated to a better value system. This is because Lokoja, Kogi state has for long been living on the survival of the fittest and the grab-whatever-comes-your-way mentality

    The Effect of Financial Leverage on the Performance of Selected Listed Firms in Nigeria

    The main objective of the study is to examine the nature of relationship between financial leverage and financial performance of selected listed consumer-goods firms in Nigeria. Degree of financial leverage is explained by overall profitability, return on equity and return on assets of consumer-goods firms in Nigeria. The research design used for this study is the experimental research design. The study is focused on the listed companies in the Nigeria Stock Exchange within the period 2010 to 2020. The study adopted descriptive statistics and inferential statistics of techniques of data analysis. The study found that any increase in the leverage of a firm in its debt capital mix, the return on asset of the firm is negatively impacted. It was concluded that debt to finance of the selected firms yielded a positive impact on the return on assets for the firms, where as significant negative impact of a higher debt to equity mix on the returns on equity of the firms. It was recommended that External funding may raise cash-flows for the firms, but it increases the financial risks of the firms and its shareholders and may result in the dilution of ownership control of the shareholders, as well as lower returns to equity holders

    INFLUENCE OF SCHOOL LOCATION, TYPE AND INSTRUCTIONAL FACILITIES ON STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN COMMERCE: A STUDY OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ZARIA, KADUNA STATE

    This study aimed at determining the influence of school location, type and instructional facilities on student’s academic performance in commerce in secondary schools in Zaria educational zone, in Kaduna State. A correlational design was adopted for the study, the population of the study was 10,000 S.S.S. three (3) students and 100 commerce teachers were 2,750 students and 49 teachers which were randomly sampled from 19 senior secondary schools in Zaria educational zone, in Kaduna state. Structured questionnaire, school check list and students’ academic performance proforma were used as the instruments for data collection. The hypotheses were analysed using linear regression. It was found among others that school location does not significantly influence students’ academic performance in commerce in Zaria educational zone, Kaduna state. It was recommended among others that the state ministry of education and in collaboration with the stakeholders should ensure that the instructional materials/facilities are adequately provided

    TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION: PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES PERSPECTIVE

    In modern-day, total quality management practices and customer satisfaction are of major concern especially in the service industry. Sequel analyzing associated problems and challenges, the experts holds the view that the customer is dissatisfied with the organization and the business institution base on the ineffectiveness of total quality management practices. Notwithstanding, this journal presents, investigates, and identifies the associated problems and challenges of total quality management practices on the satisfaction of customer. Also, core dimensions of total quality management practices tailored with relevant literature influencing customer satisfaction were discussed. However, there are some contradictions between the two components from previous association. Moreover, there is evidence that the dimensional factors of total quality management may possibly be factors in increasing satisfaction of customer regardless of the conceptual review. Therefore, building on existing knowledge of total quality management practices, policymakers could formulate policies to guide satisfied customers. The study therefore suggests that empirical research should be carried out based on the presented factors. Furthermore, the implications in the study are discussed

    Enhancing Employee Satisfaction and Performance of Private Health Sector in Ado Ekiti, Nigeria

    Employee satisfaction is crucial to organization success and performance. Employees are responsible and are highly engaged in their organizations to produce high levels of customer care, retention, productivity and generate higher profits. The improvement of employee performance and satisfaction in a few chosen private health sectors in Ado Ekiti, Nigeria, was examined in this study using both primary and secondary data. The findings show that employee satisfaction has a substantial impact on the health sector's performance in terms of job security for participants with financial benefits, rewards, and promotions playing crucial roles in employee satisfaction, retention, and attraction. In general, the results demonstrate productive satisfying employees with good working environment and reputation
