    Analysis of Safety and Cybersecurity Management Systems Interaction in Decision-Making Including Correlation for Automated Driving Systems

    Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Cybersecurity Management Systems (CSMS) need to be investigated in a systematic manner to support the development and advances for Automated Driving Systems (ADS). Self-driving vehicles are accompanied by new and unknown risks which must be considered and managed by means of new and/or adapted management processes to ensure safe ADS that include functional safety and cybersecurity. Functional safety risks can influence cybersecurity and vice-versa. This leads to the statement that interactions between two management systems need to be implemented in organizations. In order to make this interaction process understandable and structured, this paper is identifying the relevant management factors for interaction of SMS and CSMS and analyzes their degree of influence. The main contributions of this paper are, (i) identification of the correlation between management factor interactions bases on the previously performed survey paper and additionally (ii) indication of cluster and pattern of management factors to support the organizational implementation and understanding of the interaction

    Learning Environment Interoperability in Software Engineering Education

    This paper explores the significance of interoperability advancements in learning management systems (LMS) and the demand for customizable, flexible learning environments. We present a system that integrates learning resources from an LMS into a highly customizable frontend, including the embedded TaskAssessment, a programming task evaluating software. By incorporating standards such as Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) and Experience API (xAPI), seamless interoperability across various systems is ensured. The goal is to contribute to the advancement of personalized learning experiences by learning element recommendation, automatic assessment and targeted feedback, while improving system interoperability

    Evaluation of Steering Feel with Different Feedback Actuators in Driving Simulators

    Driving simulators can help to understand the driving performance of virtual vehicle prototypes, especially to evaluate with human inputs if they are feasible and are meeting the expectations of the development team. The representation of steering feel is one of the essential characteristics to deliver a realistic driving experience besides other feedback channels like visual, audible or vestibular, which are equally important to be represented in a driving simulator environment. The representation of steering feel, more specifically torque/force feedback is typically achieved through a Model-in-the-Loop or a Software-in-the-Loop setup with the help of an e-motor drive unit. For this approach it is necessary to simulate the whole chain of components up to the driver’s hand, e.g. the tire-road interaction, the suspension and the steering system including the mechanical and electrical components. A different approach is implementing the steering system hardware and ECU in the loop with a rack force actuator on the steering rack and a bus simulation. Both approaches are analyzed in terms of steering feel on driving simulators. The benefits of the presented Hardware-in-the-Loop implementation for closed-loop assessment on a dynamic driving simulator are presented. Subjective evaluation results from an expert study are discussed

    Transition into distance education: A scoping review protocol

    The number of students choosing to complete their studies online rather than in-person is on the rise. The transition to university is crucial for subsequent success, regardless of whether the learning is done face-to-face or remotely. If students can effectively handle the critical requirements associated with the transition to distance learning, their likelihood of success increases. However, thus far, little information is available on this topic. To gather existing sources, we will conduct a scoping review according to the guidelines of the research organization JBI. The review aims to systematically record, evaluate, and subsequently present the existing body of literature regarding the subject "transition into distance education". By answering the research question, "What is known about transition into distance education in higher education?" we hope to shed light on individual experiences, challenges, adaptation strategies, life situations, etc. of distance learners in a higher education context. The review will identify and categorize relevant concepts and terminologies in the research field, as well as outline the content-related boundaries. The findings derived from the scoping review will provide conceptual clarification, summarize the given theoretical and empirical knowledge in the field and offer practical implications for designing the initial phase in distance education. This article presents the a-priori study protocol that provides a detailed outline of the planned methodology for conducting the Scoping Review

    Partizipation hat eine große gesellschaftliche Bedeutung, um soziale, politische oder wirtschaftliche Ungleichheit zu verringern. Der Einbezug von Nutzer*innen in die Entwicklung digitaler Technologien nimmt auch im Kontext von Gesundheit einen zunehmend höheren Stellenwert ein. Partizipative Technikentwicklung ist ein diverses Feld mit vielfältigen Methoden und heterogenen Zielgruppen. Neben dem unterschiedlichen Verständnis von „Partizipation“ besteht Unsicherheit, wie der Ansatz der partizipativen Technikentwicklung in Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekten konkret umgesetzt werden kann. Das Buch fokussiert die partizipative Technikentwicklung mit Bezug zum Sozial- und Gesundheitswesen. Es adressiert Forscher*innen, Entwickler*innen und Studierende aus verschiedenen Disziplinen und Anwendungsfeldern wie u.a. die Gesundheitswissenschaften, Medizin, Pflege- und Therapieberufe. Die Autor*innen nehmen sowohl eine theoretische als auch eine anwendungsbezogene Perspektive auf das Thema ein: Ihre Beiträge orientieren sich an zentralen Prinzipien und Wirkweisen in Verbindung mit partizipativer Technikentwicklung.     Arbeit: projektbasiert, selbstorganisiert, wertgeschätzt?

    Projektarbeit ist – zumindest theoretisch – mit einem erhöhten Maß an Selbstorganisation verbunden und bietet die Möglichkeit (stärker) wertgeschätzter Arbeit. Dieser These gehen wir anhand einer quantitativen Befragung von über 1000 Beschäftigten aus dem Engineering in neun deutschen Maschinenbauunternehmen auf den Grund. Eine multivariate Regressionsanalyse zeigt, dass erhöhte Selbstorganisation auf Teamebene zu mehr wahrgenommener Wertschätzung bei den Beschäftigten führt. Dabei ist zwischen ‚gelebter‘ und lediglich ‚vordergründiger‘ Selbstorganisation zu unterscheiden; nur die gelebte beinhaltet tatsächliche Verfügungsgewalt der Projektteams über Ressourcen und Aufgaben. Gelebte Selbstorganisation hat einen stärkeren positiven Effekt auf die wahrgenommene Wertschätzung als vordergründige Selbstorganisation. Neben der Selbstorganisation haben auch die Dauer der Betriebszugehörigkeit, das Qualifikationsniveau sowie das Geschlecht der Beschäftigten einen signifikanten Einfluss auf die wahrgenommene Wertschätzung. Grundsätzlich lässt sich feststellen, dass sich die von uns untersuchten Betriebe der teambasierten Selbstorganisation nur zögerlich nähern und sogenannte Selbstorganisation stark fremdorganisiert ausgestaltet ist

    Unsupervised Segmentation of CNC Milling Sensor Data into Comparable Cutting Conditions

    This study aims to identify subsegments of identical cutting conditions in milling manufacturing processes using unsupervised clustering methods. Such a segmentation has a wide range of potential applications, from data compression and data obfuscation to domain specific process optimization tasks like tool wear detection or energy consumption forecasting. While prior research focuses on supervised approaches, in which the program code that instructs the milling machine is enriched by a human expert with special commands that mark the beginning and ending of segments of interest, our focus lies on unsupervised techniques, eliminating the need for such labeling efforts. Our method relies on a time-discretized simulation of the milling process. The main assumption of our method is that the so-called removed volume, i.e. the volume that is removed by the milling tool between two successive time steps, gives valuable and sufficient insight into the cutting condition. We demonstrate that, by analyzing characteristic properties of the removed volume geometries, comparable cutting conditions can be identified, which can be used e.g. to segment collected sensor data into homogeneous pieces. The results showcase the effectiveness of unsupervised methods in the analysis of manufacturing processes

    Screen Printing Catalyst Inks With Enhanced Process Stability for PEM Fuel Cell Production

    Current state-of-the-art coating techniques for PEM fuel cell electrode manufacturing such as slot-die coating use closed ink reservoirs, allowing low boiling point solvents as the dispersion matrix for solid components of the catalyst ink. Applying such low boiling point inks to printing methods that expose catalyst inks to air, like flatbed screen printing, results in an instable and nonscalable production process due to the successive evaporation of these solvents. Within this study, a total of 12 different solvents are examined for process stability and electrochemical performance when applied with flatbed screen printing. Ink characteristics, such as contact angle, rheology, and sedimentation experiments, are quantified to reveal the most suitable set of solvents, enabling the use of open-reservoir printing methods like flatbed screen printing. Additionally, electrochemical in situ characterization of catalyst-coated membranes showed that 1,2-propanediol and 1-heptanol are solvents that combine process stability with high fuel cell performance

    Nachbarschaftshilfen werden in der häuslichen pflegerischen Versorgung älterer Menschen eine zunehmende Bedeutung zugesprochen. Insbesondere im Rahmen der Angebote zur Unterstützung im Alltag lässt sich eine wachsende Relevanz dieser Hilfen erkennen. Zu diesen Angeboten gehören z. B. Betreuungsleistungen oder Einkaufs- und Haushaltshilfen. Vermittler von Nachbarschaftshilfen setzen inzwischen auch auf digitale Vermittlungsplattformen, um Freiwillige an Pflegehaushalte mit Unterstützungsbedarf zu vermitteln. Bisher gab es kaum Erkenntnisse darüber, in welcher Form und in welchen unterschiedlichen Dimensionen im Zuge der Nutzung einer Vermittlungsplattform Vorteile entstehen können. In der qualitativen Interviewstudie „Nutzen von Vermittlungsplattformen für informell Helfende in der häuslichen Pflege“ (NuVe) wurden deshalb Anbieter mit und ohne Vermittlungsplattform sowie deren hilfesuchenden Klienten und freiwillig Helfenden befragt
