Analyzing managerial skills for employability in graduate students in economics, administration and accounting sciences
The study analyzes how graduate students in economics, administration and accounting perceive their managerial skills for employability, with the aim of determining its associated variables to improve the educational processes of future managerial leaders. It focuses on the importance of developing transferable skills that meet current and future job demands. To measure the perception of skills, a structured and duly validated questionnaire (Employability Skills 2000+) was used, answered by 225 graduate students in Economics, Administrative and Accounting Sciences in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The data obtained from the application were analyzed using the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) method with the FACTOR software. The CFA generated an adaptation of the original scale with 21 variables. The resulting scale determined three predominant factors: personal management skills, fundamental skills and teamwork skills, which presented good consistency and validity, allowing us to make conclusions regarding employability skills in the context studied. The findings show the existence of a correlation between fundamental skills and variables such as work experience, employment status and gender, as well as a high correlation between teamwork skills, work experience and employability conditions
Only half of the authors of overviews of exercise-related interventions use some strategy to manage overlapping primary studies—a metaresearch study
Objectives: The conduct of systematic reviews (SRs) and overviews share several similarities. However, because the unit of analysis for overviews is the SRs, there are some unique challenges. One of the most critical issues to manage when conducting an overview is the overlap of data across the primary studies included in the SRs. This metaresearch study aimed to describe the frequency of strategies to manage the overlap in overviews of exercise-related interventions.
Study Design and Setting: A systematic search in MEDLINE (Ovid), Embase (Ovid), Cochrane Library, Epistemonikos, and other sources was conducted from inception to June 2022. We included overviews of SRs that considered primary studies and evaluated the effectiveness of exercise-related interventions for any health condition. The overviews were screened by two authors independently, and the extraction was performed by one author and checked by a second. We found 353 overviews published between 2005 and 2022 that met the inclusion criteria.
Results: One hundred and sixty-four overviews (46%) used at least one strategy to visualize, quantify, or resolve overlap, with a matrix (32/164; 20%), absolute frequency (34/164; 21%), and authors’ algorithms (24/164; 15%) being the most used methods, respectively. From 2016 onwards, there has been a trend toward increasing the use of some strategies to manage overlap. Of the 108 overviews that used some strategy to resolve the overlap, ie, avoiding double or multiple counting of primary study data, 79 (73%) succeeded. In overviews where no strategies to manage overlap were reported (n 5 189/353; 54%), 16 overview authors (8%) recognized this as a study limitation.
Conclusion: Although there is a trend toward increasing its use, only half of the authors of the overviews of exercise-related interventions used a strategy to visualize, quantify, or resolve overlap in the primary studies’ data. In the future, authors should report such strategies to communicate more valid results
Potential toxic elements pollution status in zones of technogenic impact in central regions of Perú
Soil is a component of the environment. An environmental policy should identify the sources of trace metals in the soil and their effects on people and living beings. The concentrations of 29 surface soil samples (0–25 cm) were determined using the methods EPA 3050B. The data were analyzed using simple and robust statistical analysis that allowed for determining geochemical baseline values. Principal component and correlation analyses were performed, which, together with a spatial analysis, allowed us to distinguish between geogenic and anthropogenic sources. The degree of soil contamination was evaluated using different ecological indices, and the health risks to children and adults were calculated using formulas proposed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). The median concentrations of the analyzed elements correspond to Al 17,666 (mg/kg), As 8.7 (mg/kg), Ba 61.4 (mg/kg), Cd 0.17 (mg/kg), Cr 11.3 (mg/kg), Cu 20.5 (mg/kg), Fe 25,953 (mg/kg), Hg 0.06 (mg/kg), Mn 499 (mg/kg), Ni 20.8 (mg/kg), Pb 15.9 (mg/kg), and Zn 60.6 (mg/kg). In the principal component analysis, four factors were identified that explain 70.3% of the variability of the elements, which, together with the correlation analysis, suggest that the origin of the elements is mainly geogenic with some possible anthropic contributions. The elements analyzed in the soil with moderate contamination correspond to As, Cd, and Pb, in addition, As is the only element that indicated a value above the limit for carcinogenic risk in children. The estimated geochemical baseline values correspond to Al 34,734 (mg/kg), As 15.3 (mg/kg), Ba 113 (mg/kg), Cd 0.41 (mg/kg), Cr 33.8 (mg/kg), Cu 42.9 (mg/kg), Fe 46,181 (mg/kg), Hg 0.12 (mg/kg), Mn 1015 (mg/kg), Ni 42.2 (mg/kg), Pb 21.6 (mg/kg), and Zn 121 (mg/kg). 89.7% of the total samples are at a low level of contamination. The carcinogenic risk due to As in children represents 3.4% of the total samples, so it is considered insignificant
Collaborative work and co-teaching as 21st century skills for educating from an inclusive perspective in face-to-face and virtual contexts
Educational inclusion has been promoted in Chile through international agreements and laws. Collaborative Teaching Work (CTW) is fundamental for inclusion but has faced resistance and criticism from general education teachers. Chilean policies align with international treaties, but resistance persists due to a lack of understanding of inclusion as a complex social construct.
The objective of the study was to comprehend the processes of managing collaborative work and the role of technology in educational inclusion. An ethnographic method was employed, which included interviews and ethnographic observation. The participants included educational leaders, teachers, and students from educational institutions in the Biobío and Ñuble regions.
As a result, it is found that educational leaders tend to idealize collaboration and inclusion in their institutions, but often, this is not reflected in practice. Most teachers claim to possess technological skills, but their effective use of technology is limited. Students exhibit heterogeneity in their classroom behavior, and rigidity is observed in traditional classes. There is resistance to change, a lack of teacher training, and a significant gap between the representation of school administrators and the reality in the classroom, posing significant challenges to educational inclusion. Technology is considered an important tool, but some teachers are not familiar with its use

Comparison of the level of direct contact with the natural environment in Chilean university students according to the geographical area where they live
Introducción: el contacto con la naturaleza es fundamental para la salud física y mental de las personas, especialmente en estudiantes universitarios. Sin embargo, este vínculo se ha ido perdiendo en las últimas décadas debido al crecimiento de las ciudades. El objetivo de este estudio fue comparar el nivel de contacto directo con el medio natural en estudiantes universitarios chilenos según la zona geográfica donde habitan.
Métodos: se realizó una investigación cuantitativa con un diseño descriptivo analítico. Participaron 272 estudiantes de 6 universidades chilenas ubicadas en diferentes zonas geográficas (norte, centro y sur). Se aplicó la escala de contacto con la naturaleza de manera online. Se utilizó la prueba de Kruskal-Wallis para determinar diferencias significativas entre las distribuciones de respuesta según zona geográfica.
Resultados: los estudiantes de la zona central reportaron mayor contacto con la naturaleza en su vida cotidiana (45,40 % en niveles 4-5). En excursiones, los del sur lideraron (45,16 % en niveles 4-5). En actividad física, los del sur también presentaron los mayores porcentajes (58,06 % en niveles 4-5). Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre zonas en todas las dimensiones (p<0,05).
Conclusiones: en general, los estudiantes presentan un bajo contacto con entornos naturales, siendo los de la zona norte quienes reportan los niveles más bajos. Esto evidencia la necesidad de incluir más áreas verdes en las instituciones educativas, especialmente en el norte y grandes ciudades, para fomentar el vínculo con la naturaleza y sus beneficios en la salud y desarrollo de los estudiantes

Impact of Copper(II)-Imidazole complex modification on Polycrystalline TiO2: Insights into formation, characterization, and photocatalytic performance
Micrometer-sized polycrystalline anatase particles are widely used in materials and life sciences, serving as essential components in photocatalytic materials. The ability to tailor their composition, shape, morphology, and functionality holds significant importance. In this study, we identified and examined the non-destructive route of Copper(II) implantation at the surface of polycrystalline TiO2. The [Cu(en)(Im)2]2+ complex ion demonstrated a remarkable affinity to concentrate and bind with the semiconductor’s surface, such as anatase, forming a surface-bound adduct: ≡TiO2 + [Cu(en)(Im)2]2+ → ≡TiO2//[Cu(en)(Im)2]2+. The misalignment of Fermi levels in TiO2//[Cu(en)(Im)2]2+ triggered electron transfer, leading to the reduction of the metal center, releasing Copper(I) in the process. Although less efficient, the released Copper(I) encountered a highly favorable environment, resulting in the formation of the surface complex TiO2:CuIIsc. The implanted Cu(I) was converted back into Cu(II) due to re-oxidation by dissolved oxygen. The penetration of the metal ion into the surface level of the polycrystalline TiO2 lattice was influenced by surface residual forces, making surface grafting of the Cu(II) ion inevitable due to surface chemistry. FTIR, UV–vis, Raman, XRD, EPR, and surface morphological (SEM, EDAX, and HRTEM) analyses identified the typical surface grafting of the Cu(II) cluster complex on the anatase surface matrix. Moreover, the XRD results also showed the formation of an impure phase. The TiO2 polycrystalline materials, modified by the incorporation of copper complexes, demonstrated an enhanced visible-light photocatalytic capability in the degradation of Rhodamine B dye in aqueous solutions. This modification significantly improved the efficiency of the photocatalytic process, expanding the applicability of TiO2 to visible light wavelengths. These studies open up the possibility of using copper complexes grafted on metal oxide surfaces for visible-light active photocatalytic applications. Moreover, this investigation not only showcases the improved visible-light photocatalytic behavior of copper-modified TiO2 polycrystalline materials, but also underscores the broader implications of this improvement in the advancement of sustainable and efficient water treatment technologies
The impact of environmental, social and governance (ESG) score on dividend payment of large family firms: What is the role of financial constraints? International evidence
This article studies the relationship between environmental, social and governance (ESG) score and dividend payment for 274 large family firms in the period 2015–2021. This research has three contributions to the literature. First, to the best of our knowledge this is the first article to focus on large family firms considering their greater importance in stock ownership around the world. Second, this sample covers both developed and emerging nations. Third, our study not only establishes a connection between ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria and dividend payments but also considers how financial constraints moderate the relationship between ESG scores and dividend payments. The results indicate a positive influence of ESG scores on dividend payments. Furthermore, financial constraints of family firms are negatively related to dividend payments. Finally, the moderating effect of financial constraints on the relationship between dividend payment and ESG show that for high levels of financial constraints that dividends are less sensitive to ESG score. The opposite effect is reported when firms show low levels of financial constraints. Practically speaking, the study demonstrates the value of creating a dividend policy that is in line with the ESG score because they are complementary signals. Additionally, it is important to consider financial limitations when planning financial reserves in family firms. This is due to the diminished correlation between ESG score and dividend payments in the presence of financial constraints
