In the field of green human resource management (GHRM), green practices and employee environmental commitment (EEC), there is a need to investigate these dynamics in diverse organizational contexts, such as the hospitality industry. Within hospitality industry, employee behavior is a major factor in determining environmental commitment. This study investigates the connection between GHRM practices and pro-environmental behavior (task-related and proactive pro-EB) among hospitality employees, aiming to enhance their environmental dedication. To conduct this study, we reached out to the HR managers of four hotels in India and collected 281 filled responses through a convenience sampling technique. Drawing on empirical evidence from India, the study supports the abilities, motivation, and opportunities theory and the social exchange theory framework to understand the GHRM mechanism with employee pro-EB and environmental commitment within the hospitality industry. The developed hypotheses and conceptual model used the structural equation modeling technique to test this mechanism. The study findings demonstrated that GHRM promotes pro-EB among hospitality industry employees to improve environmental commitment. This study adopts a unique approach to GHRM by considering the influence of employees’ proactive and task-related pro-EB in enhancing their environmental commitment in the hospitality secto

Beyond the Chains of Technology: social justice and the psychology of revolutionary education

    No full text
The use of technology in the present modernity discourse is a new tool of expression for the marginalized. However, as technology has always been present in some of the other forms, its role in giving meaning to one’s existence is a matter of deeper contemplation. Technology is considered to provide marginalized societies with a powerful tool for emancipation through expressions and consciousness of one’s historically shaped identity. But how is it possible? Is it happening, or is an illusion under the garb of modernity? The paper tries to understand whether modern technology equalizes assertions of one’s social identity and how it may help in the representations of social change and developing a new psychology of revolutionary education

Drones As Weapons Of Warfare: how operation sindoor marks a critical turning point

    No full text
On June 1, 2025, Ukraine launched its most ambitious drone offensive against Russia, called Operation Spiderweb. This meticulously coordinated strike targeted multiple Russian airbases across vast distances, inflicting nearly $7 billion in damages and significantly degrading Russia’s long-range strike capability. The operation has established drone warfare as a defining feature of 21st-century conflict, with profound implications for international law and security strategy. Similarly, India’s Operation Sindoor in May 2025 marked a critical turning point in South Asia’s drone landscape. Launched in response to a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the operation aimed to dismantle cross-border terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Together, these operations raise an urgent question: how is drone warfare regulated under international law, and what should be India’s path forward in this increasingly contested aerial domain

Food and the Politics of Othering of Northeastern Experiences in Axone (2020)

    No full text
This chapter explores the intricate relationship between food, identity, and representation in contemporary Indian cinema, focusing on the film Axone directed by Nicholas Kharkongor. Set against the backdrop of New Delhi, the film highlights the challenges faced by North-Eastern communities in a city rife with discrimination and cultural misunderstandings. Through the lens of the preparation of akhuni, a traditional Naga dish, the narrative delves into themes of belonging, community, and the politics of food in a multicultural landscape. By juxtaposing the act of cooking with broader societal issues—such as racism, marginalisation, and the pressures of assimilation—the film serves as a critique of the hegemonic cultural norms that govern dietary practices and, by extension, identity. Drawing on theoretical frameworks of food nationalism and ethnonationalism, this chapter situates Axone within a larger discourse on cultural representation and the politics of food in India, revealing how culinary practices can both unite and divide communities. The chapter argues that while Axone attempts to foster empathy and understanding, it also exposes the complexities of systemic oppression that continue to affect marginalised groups in contemporary society. Ultimately, this analysis illuminates the vital role of food as a cultural marker and a site of resistance in the quest for identity and recognition

Inquilab at the edge of the city: encountering capital and citizenship in Seelampur

    No full text
This paper represents an advancement of literature on cities in the Global South by undertaking a case study of the locality of Seelampur in New Delhi, its historical context, and the geographic reconfigurations precipitated by the anti-CAA-NRC-NPR agitation. It attempts to build on the literature surrounding gender and production relations undergirding a city in the Global South, and focuses on the women of Seelampur for their defiance of the boundaries imposed by the logic of accumulation and the patriarchal purview of the state. Throughout their life, the women of Seelampur have precariously inhabited the margins of the city. Just as they are deemed encroachers in the city, they are also cast as encroachers upon citizenship. Seelampur has been subject to underdevelopment to serve the needs of capital through the exploitation of its Muslim population and the confinement of their labour. The locality of Seelampur is compelled to converse with the disciplining face of the state, while the residents are deprived of welfare entitlements owed to them. Seelampur as the site of protest constituted an instance of resistance to the continued privatisation of city space and represented a reclamation of the city-scape. The social production of space by the women protestors re-ordered the sense of time, place and gender within the locality—and hence reorganised priorities of the women towards kinship and family. The praxis of care feminised resistance and extended the socio-spatial boundaries such that the protest site became the home of homes. Challenging and subverting given notions of the public, Seelampur redefined Muslim women’s political participation and public identity

Exploring the impact of energy saving and emission reduction fiscal policy on renewable energy development: Evidence from China

    No full text
As global energy demand continues to rise and geopolitical uncertainties intensify, developing renewable energy has emerged as a crucial strategic approach to enhancing national and regional energy security. Adopting an energy saving and emission reduction fiscal policy is a vital strategy to accelerate green transformation and promote renewable energy utilization. However, empirical examination of the impact of this type of policy on renewable energy development is nonexistent. This study is the first to systematically investigate how this policy influences renewable energy development using a staggered difference-in-differences model. The results showed that the pilot demonstration cities had significant advantages in promoting renewable energy development. Simultaneously, this positive effect can be achieved by enhancing government environmental concern, accelerating industrial squeeze, and increasing renewable energy investment. Interestingly, fiscal pressure and pressure from China’s “dual carbon” strategy both limited and enhanced policy effectiveness, respectively. Additionally, the impact of the pilot policy varied significantly based on geographical location, city size, energy endowment, and capacity utilization. Moreover, the construction of demonstration cities yielded positive environmental dividends. This study offers a valuable reference for accelerating energy transition and achieving “dual carbon” goals
